Wow that’s crazy! I was just talking to a co-worker about how much I miss my car and now I see this! Unfortunately I went through a divorce in 2015 and was basically forced to sell it :(. Well I’m glad to see it’s still on the road! I spent several years on that build. That car was being parted...
Heres my experience. In 1997 my best friend got a beautiful 90 GST for his 16th birthday. This was the first DSM I ever drove and I fell in love with it instantly. A few years later the timing belt broke and bent valves. Car sat for about 6 months and his parents made him call the local junk...
I unchecked those boxes and for the most part my car has been idling better. I still have random episodes where it will start idling very low and the car dies out. This seems to happen the most on cold start when it first goes into closed loop and when the car is fully warmed up. I'll start...
I'm also using avid racing (street) motor mounts and I really like them. Motor and trans are very tight! The only downside for me was having to buy longer bolts for driver side mount and the transmission mount seems too thick since it doesn't leave many threads for the nuts. Mine are a few years...
Just checked and according to my research I have the MAP assigned correctly. Sorry I didn't specify earlier that the bundle came with the mitsu-style sensor.Any other suggestions?
Really? I thought for sure i followed the instructions correctly but I'll check it out. I used the Mitsubishi style omni 4 bar map that replaced the stock mdp sensor. Thanks for the response
Thanks calan. That's a great guide, however I'm pretty sure that's not my problem. As I stated earlier, my idle was fine prior to SD install and I highly doubt one my ISC coils decided to go bad instantly. I also did another boost leak test and found no leaks. It's weird because sometimes it...
When I was still on the stock MAF my car idled pretty good. I switched to speed density and now my idle is all messed up. Most of the time I have to keep giving it gas or it will die. Also I can't seem to get SDairflowPerRev .25 and my combinedFT is off. I add deadtime and it doesn't seem to do...
Update: Mysticj is a really nice guy and he came to my house last Sunday. We tried to test the AWD version on my car but the mounts didn't line up. From a visual standpoint, it definitely looks like these will stiffen up the rear chassis so I look forward to trying it again once he modifies...
Since you bought a Mitsu-Style MAP sensor then you don't use that 3-pin GM connector. I ordered the same cable a couple of months ago and was confused as well. You use the factory harness for the MDP sensor which is where the new Mitsu-Style sensor would be placed anyway. Then in ECMLINK you...
Haha "graham cracker", not sure I've heard that reference towards black n tan interior before... Or maybe u meant u saw a piece of cracker on one of the mats? Yeah I know black shows everything but this car isn't my daily driver so they shouldn't get too dirty. The fitment and quality is good.
For you 2G guys with tan interior check this out. I just got the black set from http://www.brazilshopping.com/store/floormats.html. $85 shipped and it took 22 days to arrive.
Sorry u caught that nasty bug. what are u doing with the breather port on the left side of the valve cover? Are u running 2 lines to the catch can and 1 to turbo inlet?
He's using a method described by Calan and doesn't need a check valve. I guess it wouldn't hurt to have one but it's not required. His catch can setup will be pulling vacuum and won't be seeing boost from the intake manifold.
Since your low on cash, heres an idea. If the PCV valve will still thread in several turns then I would wrap it with thread seal tape (teflon tape) and thread it back in tight. Then later on just buy another valve cover.
A thread chaser might be able to repair the existing threads but I'm not sure what the thread size/pitch is. Typically if you tap a hole it's going to end up being slightly bigger. You might be able to find a heli-coil that will fit the PCV valve threads. I use a thin layer of RTV ultra grey on...
Yeah I wish you were close by because I would definitely be using your services! btw the custom catch can you fabricated for me is working great :thumb:
And yes the pull-a-part in Charlotte always has 420a cars. In the past 6 years I've been going there I've only seen 5 turbo DSMs but 100s of non-turbos.
Glad u got it out. I know this axel tip is hindsight but I always pull the ebrake, remove the wheel center cap and brake the axel nut loose while the car is still on the ground. It's much easier this way. Same goes with tightening. Get it all snug and put the car back on the ground. Center cap...
Great job and $700 was a steal for sure! Did you check the timing belt? If you're not sure when timing belt or the tensioner was replaced then you should definitely put that next on the to-do list. I recommend using OEM belt & tensioner. Be sure to replace the balance shaft belt as well. Yeah I...
I agree with these guys. Pull both together and it will be easier in the long run. IMO the main downside to pulling the trans is dealing with the axels. I've had both good and bad experiences. A couple things to note is sometimes the passenger side can be a huge pain to pop out and you should...
