I have done a lot of searches for boost spike in the forums. I have found plenty of information but I just wanted to clarify a few things:1) a typical stock t25 will normally begin experiencing boost spike when the car is modded through pressure fluxuations (exaust, icps, MBC)2) small...
agreed, just commenting that the price is probably pretty close comparatively and its just worth it to spring for the NGKs (and get them in the color you want :thumb:)
This is definitely the most accurate way to install a boost gauge. Also, the easiest way to get through your firewall is probably using the steering wheel boot (behind your break peddal). Also - if you have a dimmer the wires should usually set up as:red - live, 12v
black - ground
orange -...
evolutionm.net is a great call, my friends with evo's have staked their cars lives on the stuff said there. we're humble DSM owners... we'll talk about :talon::laser::dsm: all day but we can't give u everything about evo's.(get the reg. evo 9 btw, MR isnt worth it)GOOD LUCK! :thumb:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/problem-diagnosis/2707-program-remote-control-visor-homelink-home-link.htmlthat should help. if it doesnt just search the forums again :thumb:
if they arent actually on the mirror but on the visor they have to be the garage openers. you can program them to open your own garageaw crap got there first.
if you aren't experiencing misfires i think your plugs are fine. i think you NEED to do a boost leak test before you can decide anything. white smoke could mean awful things for your turbo but if you can check the shaft play i would do that as well.1) boost leak test
report back :thumb:
there are a few places that sell a full kit but typically u'd buy the afpr separately (aftermarket fuel pressure regulator)EDIT: also for the boost controller you could just go with a NXS motorsports one (find them on ebay, say u have a dsm and its $15 shipped)
By far the best thing you can do at this point. How crappy is that 4g63 anyway? if you got it for 700 i assume it would take some work but it sounds like you are getting a good deal for the swap... maybe ull get a good deal for fixing the 4g63? What you are doing makes very little sense (sorry...
what exactly is your idle problem? do you have / know the engine codes if you have a check light? (if you suspect a problem with your plug wires they might be arc'd)
nut should be loosened, then tighten the belt and test, then tighten the nut back up. similar to above but you can also use a piece of wood or equivalent to push the alternator into possition. my problem was the alternator being too close to the center of the engine bay, so it sweaked and always...
agreed, this is a good general rule. however, the new belt will slightly loosen over time. make sure you don't have any dimming of your lights at idle and if you start hearing a squealing noise at idle you know the belt is loose again. you dont want it too tight though, no sense in cracking a...
similar to what i did, you do have tons of options when it comes to this part of your modification, the cheapest stainless steel option is always a great one, you just might not get the sound you're looking for, mine sounds great though (its basically a full turboback custom but it was done by a...
i have a greddy full auto turbo timer if you want, but you basically dont need one at this point and if you get a bov you should really have hard ic pipes. otherwise u wouldnt necessarily need one, you could just replace your stock one. (id highly suggest hard pipes!! you'll notice a slight...
i agree that out of the two you should choose the apexi over the megan.. buschur is sounds sweet but my vote overall would be the apexi. good luck :thumb:
I've had consistant problems with the same thing, now that it's fixed id rather not have a logger in the car all the time haha but thanks for all the imput, ill ###### end up with the afpr upgrade.
Saw a thread from 2004 about tapping for a fuel pressure gauge by drilling a hole in the fuel rail.. is there a better way to do this by any chance?i need to tap a sender NPT 1/8"thanks in advance guys
Yeah came back once but everythings kosher now :thumb:I'm having other problems tho. bout to post a thread. and yeah that wing is ###in flyyyyy, haha i want it off asap. the front lip is off now and it looks so much better. i cant believe i was able to save the car from the ricer population...
the previous owner of my car added these hot blue stripes.. damn it, they look sweet but it was only a 10 hp gain, he got ripped off :toobad:dont worry tho! my prosport stickers will add 10 more hp no problem :thumb:
idle should be 750ish.check your coil pack, ignition wires, plugs... that's the most common set that would give u problems... so wait your rpms bounce in what way?
pretty sure this has just as high a melting point and it's made of thicker material. I'm actually more comfortable with the braded hose i posted:thumb: but to each his own
just looked at my first post and realized I originally was going to get the clear tube and ended up with a black braided one b/c it looked more stock :ohdamn: anyway, it's still a braided tube and you could use a clear one all the same. pic will be up tomorrow.
I'll get those pics up asap. I'm at school currently, travelling tomorrow to ny, then going home monday. They'll be up monday night, gaurenteed. Sorry about not being able to do it faster, in exam mode haha:barf:
Home Depot has tons of options, I used a braided clear tube that had an insanely high melting point. It was just a straight tubing so i heated up some water in the mirowave, soaked the piping (which is hard when at room temp and maliable at just below 110F) and just bent it and clipped it on, it...
+1
I tried to make a switch to PulStar plugs and it did NOTHING but screw me over. Might as well just stick to what DSMers know and love in terms of brands, typically ppl have already figured out what's best.Anyway, do you have a logger / is the engine check light up (not that it would...
yeah wanted to start writing a term paper last night at 9, went on here, after a while looked at the clock and it was midnight, then called the gf and came back on and then it was 3.. there goes my paper thanks dsmtuners.com! :D
I think I'll be able to go to this.. I'll be in school so ill see if i can make the trip down first.. its a 6hr trip so idk  this sounds pretty sick, ive never been
just because the bov isn't recirc'd wouldn't mean it's going to smoke the way he's describing. +1 on the blown turbo. especially if u pushed it and it held tight on 12 psi.. idk yeah agreed on the boost leak but that wouldn't explain smoke either. boost leak test first, then tell us where you're at
its rich, not heavy rich. wires brand new, just put in new NGK plugs, tried again, same problem.i still feel like im boost spiking, is there any way to check this besides getting the gauge? im probably better off just getting the gauge anyway though. :ohdamn: i think im just gonna spring for...
hey guys. so my car has been the equivallent of misfiring WOT in 4th and 5th gears. This happens when i am cruising and flogg 4th or 5th AND it happens if I'm pulling onto a highway ramp in 2nd gear and run it thru the gears (2, 3, 4...) and as soon as i hit the 5k-ish mark it might start...
+1 mbcs are actually considered more accurate, as they can't fluctuate due to an electronic malfunction. the mbc you have is dandy. good luck with the build :dsm:for decent prices you can try maperformance.com or look for a namebrand on ebay. i like prosport but most ppl go greddy (high-end)...
400 miles, 1 stop, done it 3 times so far, doing another next saturdayI go to school in maine, and from nj its about 6 or 7 hours (depending on the stop)
you can look at my mods (minimal) just dont boost a lot and u'll be fine :thumb:
