    1991 fwd nt tcu

ok i need the input of a wiseman i replaced the capacitor with a 272-1072 from radio shack but instead of pulses all i get is constant voltage at the test port but the mpi prong about it gives me pulses so im curious as to what the next step i can do is or if this is a sign that i need another tcu
  2. brassc2007

    1991 fwd nt tcu

ok well the tcu does not give me constant short pulses or a code so this one is fried since its constant voltage and makes me not want to buy any more iteams off of dsmtuners as i obviously got scunked so anyone have any leads on a tcu
  3. brassc2007

    1991 fwd nt tcu

sorry for so many questions but since there is no visible leakage could i assume that the tcu is working properly and the problem lies elsewhere with the trans system

    1991 fwd nt tcu

wouldnt a piezo buzzer work the same as a test light, just sound instead of light flashes?
  5. brassc2007

    1991 fwd nt tcu

id pull the codes but i dont have a volt or ohms meter is there anyway to bypass the tcu without a standalone trans controller? If the tcu is still the culprit i dont want want to waste money on another faulty tcuSo would i replace the 47uf cap with just another 47uf cap from radioshack?
  6. brassc2007

    1991 fwd nt tcu

ok well i replaced the tcu with know good one and double checked the caps before i put it in and they looked great replaced the trans with a good one and it is still stuck in limp mode i tried searching again but what can all cause the trans to go into limp mode

Misfire, heat related? Help... its getting worse!

just curious but do you have a stock cat if it is plugged it while cause the vehicle to spit and sputter when cold and worse warm but u can feather it u can test by taking out an o2 sensor and see if the vehicle still has the same issues taking the 02 out allows for exhaust that is backed up to...

retest the coil its actually 2 coils molded together if its running on 1 and 4 and not 2 and 3 i would swap out the coil and try it just cause its ohming right doesnt mean its not faulty just like a sensor it reads and acts differently warm and cold

something i totally spaced off and now cant figure out

would it make a difference that im using the jeep iac instead of the 420a iac and swapping the jeep head onto it. All vacuum lines are brand new silicone. Just out of curiousity what is the best way to compensate for the amount of air funning in to the car without getting mega squirt or a...

something i totally spaced off and now cant figure out

alright here goes.... I went ahead and pulled my motor out due to a dui and bad syncros. I rebuilt it with factory style internals, ported and polished the head and intake manifold, knife edged the injector humps, and put the jeep 4.0 throttle body mod on. I also deleted the emissions. I...

Will a 1g swap fit in my nt 2g?

the 420a can make that goal of 400 horse you can pick up eagle rods and je pistons for about 700 as for the cams they can take a lil time to find but they do have them out there but just to broaden your mind have you thought about mating a srt4 block to our 420a head i believe the parts for the...

Will a 1g swap fit in my nt 2g?

yes you could swap the 4g in place of the 420a it all depends on how much you want that 4g in there and how much you love your car. Everyone on here is going to tell you that it is not worth it but thats not up to them if it is worth it or not is up to you. If you have a donor then you will...

    evo crank in 2g

there should not be any balance issues if it is a drop in crank you can have it checked out at your local machine shop and make sure it is in balance and then weigh each piston with the rod on it and make sure they all way the same and if not take a little off the cap on the rod so they weigh...
  24. brassc2007

    evo crank in 2g

why not just take your stock crank and knife edge it polish or turn the journals and then balance and blue print your internals, A crank is a crank unless it is a lightweight crank that was made for a high rev fast turning motor

    Brake light And Battery light

yes a bad connection to your battery will cause this i would take your connections of pour a little coke on them and clean them off and tighten them back up
  26. brassc2007

    Overheating

at any reputable shop it should only take a day to do it, i would recommend getting it to a shop and have them do a test to see if there are any exhaust fumes in your coolant system, the 420a is notorious for bad head gaskets,

Is my fuel pump suppose to get power with key in the "on" position?

why not just run a jumper wire from your battery to your pump with a inline fuse in it just as a test line or when someone is cranking the car over check to see if you even have power at the pump with a test light
  28. brassc2007

    Squeeling noise

the pump is getting bad since you ran it low on fluid i am assuming that you burned the bearings up in it cause of the heat attribution to running the ps pump low
  29. brassc2007

Is my fuel pump suppose to get power with key in the "on" position?

i have a 97 talon as soon as i turn the key to the on position the pump begins to prime, it is only on the 1g's that dont prime until your turn the motor over

  31. brassc2007

    Squeeling noise

make sure that you have not overtightened or undertightend the belt i believe your wanna be able to push the belt about a half inch to 3/4 of an inch when tightened they have a special tool for it but i have never bothered to buy it i overtightened my ps belt on my 420a and it make it squel

replaced harmonic dampner, now car wont start.

can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key to the run position you might need to have someone stand back by the gas filler with the cap off to hear it but you wanna make sure you can hear a wining sound to see if your pump is working, You could also get a hold of a noid light and...

  36. brassc2007

replaced harmonic dampner, now car wont start.

do you have spark? If you do not have spark then i would almost bet that its your crank position sensor its located down behind the crank pulley i would check that too.
  37. brassc2007

replaced harmonic dampner, now car wont start.

well idk what kind of car we are talking about here but if it is a 2g 7bolt doesn't the crankshaft position sensor mount behind the harmonic balancer therefore if it got hit by the balancer isnt it possible that, that is the only problem cause that sensor sends a signal to the ecu controlling...

    Low compression wet and dry

im not sure what psi you would set it at but im gonna guess not a full blast, a full blast im sure just like on my v8 in my truck would be enough pressure to push the piston down. Im going to say somewhere between 60 and 100 psi. From what i have read anything over 100 will push the piston...

    Too much fuel?

have you check fpr, or any of the sensors on the throttle body. If you pull the vacuum line of the end of the fpr when the car is warmed up and running you can tell if your fpr (fuel pressure regulator) is good or bad if it has gas coming out of it, it is bad, if not then it is good.

    manifold red when normal driving

what size injectors, are you tuning with anything, and is your a/f guage wide or short band
  50. brassc2007

    Low compression wet and dry

You could perform a leak down test to see where the compression is going that would give you a better idea but i would say if it is running now id just keep driving it the only thing that would worry me is the 60/75psi cylinder otherwise they are roughly close together
