Ok, update time...I can get the car into 3rd one of two ways:1. shift it on the transmission using the gear selector when the car is off, start the car and engage the clutch - it starts to bog, so it's in gear2. Shift from 2nd to 4th, then i can shift into 3rd. It will not shift into...
1. The linkage is of the type where there is an adjustment sleeve on the side-to-side cable, and none on the back-and-forth cable, which indicates a 91+ factory replacement.2. When I removed the cables from the trans, I left the bracket intact, so there's really no way it could have gone on...
Skateboard bearings already installed, along with a new mitsu set of shift cables. I have also removed all rubber bushings from the entire shift linkage system, so there is no slop at all.Everything was working fine before the clutch fork snapped (with the exception of occasional hard...
Ok, so just got done replacing a broken clutch fork, with new one, new pivot ball, throwout bearing, etc. Got everything put back together, and the clutch bled and took it for a test drive only to find out that 3rd gear is missing.Could this be a cable adjustment issue? (or an incorrectly...
Well I think at this point I'll have to pull the whole trans to make sure the throwout bearing is still intact, and nothing else broke in there. Will probably shim the input shaft too, as the 2600 was grabbing really low at max adjustment. And Gus, you're probably right - I'm using the 2600...
Well, removed the slave cylinder. No damage to the bore so i'll probably rebuild it. Bad news is that the clutch fork snapped right in two. Has anyone ever seen this happen before? Is the cause just fatigue? It doesn't appear that the pressure plate, clutch of flywheel was damaged, so that's...
Yeah, I noticed the fork position too, and thought the worst. But the fact that the slave rod actually bent says to me that something in there made it bind. The more I think about, the more expensive this is getting...Actually, last weekend I adjusted the master cylinder rod to get the clutch...
Well here's a pic of my destroyed slave cylinder and bent slave rod.The pedal went to the floor when this happened, wouldn't go back in gear etc. Had to put it in gear and bump start to limp home...Obviously the slave cylinder self-destructing was the cause of that, but what caused the...
As a follow up to this post, after months of agony, the culprit here turned out to be the throttle cable being too tight. It was so tight that I had to modify the adjustment bracket by lengthening the holes to allow for even more slack. The fact that I had to do this may point to more problems...
Thanks for posting this. I heard of the rumored 3c905b cards on the dsm ecu yahoo group, but could never dig up any actual information (through google or otherwise).
You know mine is non-functional too, but everything is still hooked up. I just figured it was something the previous owner did...From other threads I've read here it's a real headache to fix. So now the question is, which one of us is going to install the 1g NA throttle cable? ;)
I have this issue too. I've been conveniently ignoring it because the weather has been cool. the longer I drive the car, the worse it gets. I can usually get it to reduce the idle speed about 800 rpms from wherever it is by blipping the throttle.I have a new TPS, a used (but working) ISC...
Has anyone ever tried installing a complete set of 2g manual seat belts as an alternative to the stock strangulator automatic belts?Canadian belts are always an option, but I'm not interested in paying dealer prices and/or spending a ton of time scouring canadian dsm classifieds...Dan
So far so good. Just be sure to check your transmission bellhousing too, as it likely cracked from all the torque going through those two top bolts. The mount fix is holding fine - i just need to get my trans bellhousing welded now... ;)
Apparently the turbo timer I have will not work when the temperature of the car is too high (a safety feature I guess). The fan not working was the combination of a bad thermo sensor in the radiator and a bad connection.
On my drive to work the other day, I noticed the temperature starting to climb, and pulled over to check it out. I noticed the radiator fan was not on, so there's the overheating problem... Anyway, after replacing the fan and the temperature switch (in the bottom of the radiator) and checking...
Here's the post with the original idea:http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/road-course-autocross/258925-broken-engine-ear-blues.htmlHe's auto-crossing that thing, so you may want to PM him and see how it's holding up!
The previous owner did the engine swap himself, I guess that was one of his custom mods... ;)I honestly didn't even notice, but thanks for the catch. Looks like I'll be making another trip to Lowes for some grade 8's..Dan
Well I recently purchased my '91 GSX with the only "known" problem being a leaking front axle shaft seal. While taking care of that I notice that the rear lower engine/trans bolt is missing, so of course I immediately check the front mount, and it is of course, sheared clean off. Dammit.Step...
