Found the leak today! My upper radiator hose was pulling loose from the radiator when I was accelerating. I got lucky and found coolant on my o2 pigtail when I was leaving work. The coolant happened to be falling perfectly off of the hose so that it didn't land anywhere on my car and didn't...
Hey guys, I recently started having this problem. I can't find a leak anywhere and theirs no milkshake I can see. I am pulling the plugs tonight to check for coolant as well. I always keep my reservoir full and check it about once a week. It will go from full, and stay that way for a few...
I use a huge box for my 15, i use straps anchored to the strut towers to keep it from moving. The setup I am currently building is much more stable. Pull that cheap cardboard flooring out of the trunk, cut a piece of mdf a little bit smaller than that then build your box into it. It really...
If you can't find where the leak is, it could be the water pump. Check all the obvious things first, as the water pump is a pain in the butt to get to and replace. You could add some highlighter fluid and check the car with a black light to find the leak if you are having a hard time.
Ok, Ill get some pics in a day or so. For whats modded I'll have to guess on some of it, the kid who traded cars with him had just gotten it himself and had no idea what was goin on.
The list of modifications is in the link at the top in my first post. The main problem we have right now is that it chugs extremely bad while idleing. We can smell fuel when the cars idleing as well.lTonight I'm going over their to figure out what the banjo fitting went to and replace a...
Yah i can get one posted tomorrow, its probably a 2.5 foot long hose, ends in a circular piece of metal with the center cut out and an opening for the hose. I've never seen anything like it before.Ok, he got pics to me today, this is the mysterious piece we can't figure out.
Hey guys, my buddy just picked up a turbo 420a in Saginaw and it is giving him a few problems already. The parts list for whats on it should be in this link (eclipse gsT(built)trade?). i personally doubt some of the parts, but until I can verify them I assume this list is correct.Anyhow...
I used some random tiny speakers i had laying around, a little bit to small to fit in the plastic cradle correctly, i used some cardboard and zipties to make it work until i could get some nice speakers. If your in a pinch that is what i recommend. For easily connecting speakers i just...
Make sure to check your grounds on your cd-players first guys, its the problem almost all the time. Make sure its getting a good clean connection. Make sure you have no random sources of interference as well, a good example that was said is the power wire to an amp.
Don't use the bubble to aim on the headlight, thats for halogens. Find level ground and face your car towards a wall then aim it correctly. Its also not a matter of it being illegal to aim them right, its a matter of blinding other drivers and possibly causing accidents.
I would get a retro too, but if you can't afford it right now just make sure you re aim your headlights.I put a 55 watt kit with 12ks in my DSM when i first got my HIDs and aimed them a bit farther down and have not had a single problem. My buddy on the other hand left his aimed where they...
I have a thread that show my custom box running two tens and a fifteen, its a lot of fun work to make but once we got it ported right it sounds killer. Also mixing sub sizes is fine if you set it up right, i sealed my 15 and ported my 10s and it sounds perfect. Just a bit of tuning to get it...
Ok fellas, Ive been busy on getting the exact sound I want out of my 10s, and it has turned out phenomenally. I closed up the top ports, and relocated the ports to the bottom of the box facing the rear of the car. Now instead of having 1 3inch port I have 2 1.5 inch ports on each box. I also...
To get your gain right on your amp, you can do some easy math to get it set perfectly. Also using a bigger amp with the gain turned down is going to give cleaner sound.Get the RMS wattage you want the amp to put out, say you want 50. Then you get the ohmage its going to run at, so well go...
Their shouldn't be any cancellation between the 15 and 10 right now, as the 15 is unhooked, I just need to tighten the airspace down to the correct size. I'm almost 100% sure i have almost double the needed airspace for the ported box.
I did it the way I did because if I port both the 15 will drown out the 10s, this way I still get the responsiveness I want for metal from the 10s and the lows for hip hop from the 15.
Ok, so tonight im tightening up the airspace for the two 10s, I'm curious if you guys think i should modify my ports to face towards the back of the car to get them to punch more. Sound quality wise it is great right now, but its really quiet to the point where some songs it just sounds like i...
Ok just re-did all the ports, sounds a million times better, probably helped to use longer ports. Now I just am waiting for a new 15 and amp then I will be either carpeting the whole box or fiber-glassing the whole trunk as I had to remove one of the trim pieces for it to fit snugly. We also...
I like having bass that punches you in the back of the head when it hits, I'm a huge metal fan so volume and double bass make me a happy man.I don't have the space to use the boxes it recommends, plus because of the weird dimensions i have a square port would be hard as hell to get cut and...
Yah we walled each sub into its own chamber, wanted to keep them at the ideal space for each sub, the amp is a pioneer 1000 watt mono block putting out 400rms at 4oh, and 600 at ohm. We wanted the 15 sealed so the ports go to each individual 10.
Yah, that's why I am figuring ill pick up a new amp when i replace my 15, that way the 10s are on a separate amp. When I put the JL in one coil was already blown, I just threw it in so that i didn't have a big empty hole until i get a new sub.
I came to terms with my 420a not being fast quite a while ago, so now I'm just making a fun car to commute in, I decided I wanted to do a nice setup for my system so I can blast my music and what not. This is what me and my friend came up with so far, though I am ordering a new 15 because the...
I just picked up my new system, I got a JL 15w3 D4 in a bandpass box, its the entire hatch of the car, but it is disgustingly loud.Bryce Yax's Photos | Facebook
I like the relocation mods better where you place the beef of the headunit somewhere else and put the faceplate wired to it in the headliner. Looks so much nicer and makes sense. Plus i like having a cupholder.
I like this setup, i want to do something similar for my 2 12's. How does it sound though? I would rather have a loud ugly setup than a quiet crappy pretty setup.
It wasn't really the chrome finish that was ugly, it was that half the headlight is square. It looked really bad on my 2gb, and i can't see black making it much better.
If you have the time, I would take out the interior panels and look for aftermarket stuff. It only takes a half hour to completely gut the cars from the driver seat back. Then id have a friend come over, and just sit back their when you start it to find the sound. I don't think itd be a...
I have a pair of those sitting in my shed with the chrome finish. Mounted them for all of 5 minutes then decided that they are by far the ugliest headlights I have ever seen. I can get a pic of them mounted on my car in a day or two, if it gets nice out.
Saginaw, seems like i have the only clean black eclipse around here. All i ever see is base 420a's with no mods at all except for the altezza tails. I saw a GS-t once in bay city, and instantly was sad because i beat him with my non turbo 420a.
It should sound fine, i would skip the dynamat myself, unless you get a bomb deal on it. My lazy door speaker set up sounds great and i pound the hell out of my system.
I have a similar problem, but once i drive the car and get it warmed up the windows work fine and its just the pass side. I figure its from the winter. Otherwise i would lubricate everything and if that doesn't fix it get new motors. They shouldn't be hard to replace.
Ok just checked all the wiring and its all good, the only thing i can think of is that i need a new gasket at for the downpipe, but thats after the O2 so idk whats up.Found out the problem, on the flex pipe i used, the pipe tie did not crimp the pipe all the way to the downpipe, once i fixed...
When i swapped my door speakers out i just pulled the plastic pieces out of the door and jiffy rigged the new speakers in between the door and the plastic rain cover. Its worked out so far, but should be able to easily modify the plastic piece too if you have the free time. I would recommend...
Yah it completely broke off Wednesday so i welded it yesterday, only problem I have now is that I used a universal Bosch O2 Sensor that had me splice wires and the car is still dropping the CEL. I haven't been able to check it yet but i figured that its probably still the O2 being the problem.
Mine did that right before my axle died. If you pull into a driveway slowly but still accelerating then its probably the axel. The other symptom i had was the steering would jerk once in a great while. If it does get it fixed immediately, it sucks to have to flat bed your car home after a shop...
So my header is a 4-1 and at some point in the winter it got a smallish crack where the pipes converge into 1. It wasn't to big of an issue at the time, sometimes I would get a CEL for the O2 not getting a good signal, but it ran fine other than the lowered gas mileage.Well today I was...
To get to the head unit is really easy, just pull the center console, which is like 6 screws, then pull the piece of trim that goes over the CD player and hvac. After that there should be 4 screws holding the stock head unit in.I never had the in car system with the amp on the floor, but if...
Wire it without the switch real fast, it should come on then. Then just take the ground and cut it in half where you want to put the switch and wire that into the switch. I did this with my power inverter that i hard wired in under the driver seat and it works perfectly.
