Well, I finally got the time to put an EVO ECU into my car. It works great! There are a couple of things, like the RPM gauge dropping when pushing on the gas pedal, and the factory boost gauge not working, but those are minor. Overall I am very happy with the way the car runs. Now I need to do a...
I started to put my EVO ECU in today. I have the extension harness to make it easier (or so I thought). I swapped pins 8 & 22, according to the extension harness numbering, but noticed the pins aren't located in the same place as the pinout on the first page. I think I need to ignore the harness...
I'm pretty sure the engine ECU does not control the ACD. I believe the ACD has its own computer. Any EVO 8 ECU should be fine. I don't know about the 9, though, since it has MIVEC.
Here is another thread to help give guys an idea of hwo to tune using ECUflash. I know this is for an EVO 9, but the basics are the same. How To Tune an Evo - evolutionm.net
GSXDNA,If you're still having troubles with your O2 sensor, you could try turning it off by using one of the following codes:56D0 -No rear O2 no Immobilizer
5650-no rear O2, No immobilizer, No knock
5658-no rear O2, No knock sensor
56D8-no rear O2
5698, no front or rear 02
5690, no...
ECUflash can control a meth injection setup,as EVO guys have already been doing this. One additional thing it does, which I really like, is valet mode. You can set it to only go up to a preset rpm, so valet guys can't bang on the car when you have it parked.
Well I spent $110 for an EVO ECU, $100 for a harness extension (Mach V), and $90 for a tactrix cable, for a grand total of $300. I'd say that's a pretty good deal for a standalone tuning option.
Sam,Thanks for trying this for us. I, like many others, would like to know which pins were swapped to make it function. I already have an EVO VIII ECU and extension harness, so I just need to know which pins to swap. Also, where did you get the EDM ROM from? I definitely think this will be a...
I agree with you guys. I wanted to do this as an ecomical alternative to DSMlink. SO being able to do it myself for ~$200 is great if it works. If I need to change a few sensors, I'm ok with that, as long as I don't start getting up to $500 total. Having said that, I still think ECUflash will be...
It's just a patch harness I bought from Mach V (ECU Patch Harness). I bought it so I don't have to mess with the factory wiring, I can make the changes outside the car, plug it in and go.
If you get this to work, please let us know. I know I said a while back I was going to do this, but just haven't gotten around to it. From what I can tell, all you need to do is switch pins 8 & 22 and it should work. Is that what you came up with?
You're exactly right. I don't think I would put in a smaller than stock injector scale. I know with the EVOs, the car seemed to run better with a smaller scale vs. injector size. With a larger injetor (>800cc), it seemed it was a little trickier to get the tune just right, but not too much harder.
Here is a link for injector scaling. Take a look at post 6 for an estimate on what # to use for an injector.Injector scaling and latecy for different injectors. - evolutionm.net
I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but wanted to ask anyway. Will an aftermarket GST exhaust (2G) fit on a GSX (2G)? There's one local pretty cheap and the guy selling it said it would fit, but I didn't think it would (eclipse catback exhaust system). Thanks in advance.
You can use me as a guinea pig if you'd like. I have a little experience with ECUflash from my EVOs. As a matter of fact, I was going to install an EVO ECU, but just haven't had the time. I would much rather go this route. I already have a tactrix cable and the software. I've even downloaded my...
Mine is doing basically the same thing. The cel comes on while cruising on the interstate at aroudn 70mph, but not qhile driving around town. I'm going to swap in a coil pack to see if that fixes it.
I'm having basically the same problem with my car. It started right after I had a new clutch and flywheel installed. It's more prevelant at higher speeds (>40 mph) and between 2-3k rpms. It only occurs when I let off the gas with it still in gear.
Well, I just put in a Spec Stage 4+ clutch kit. Its rated to hold 500 ft/lbs of torque, so that's right what you need. The clutch kit cost me $445 shipped. It feels almost like stock and is a really good daily driver. I've had the ACT 2600 before, and imho, the Spec clutch is much better.
I recently put in a new clutch & lightened flywheel. You will definitely be able to notice a difference, but I still shift and cruise at the same rpms.
I've never heard of a zoom clutch either. I would go for a Spec clutch. I've had an ACT and prefer the Spec. It feels much more stock-like than an ACT, imho.
I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but thought I'd ask anyway. The reason I wanted to know is I can get a good deal on a set of EVO 8 HKS cams. I don't think they will, since the engines are 180 degrees out, but thought I'd ask.
I just put in a Spec stage 4+ clutch and it is very near stock feel. It's rated to hold 500 ft lbs of torque. I've had the ACT 2600 in my old EVO and it was not close to stock. The stage 4+ has an unsprung hub, which is what Spec recommended to me for AWD. I would highly recommend it, even over...
Well, I was able to download my ROM last night using the new 1.38 version of ecuflash. If someone knows how to read it, I can e-mail it to them. I couldn't change the parameters, so I don't know if the write capability is there yet.
