Your BOV isn't even opening at all from the sound of it. Have you checked your vacuum line? If you tee'd it off with another line, I suggest giving the BOV it's own dedicated vac line. Either that or your spring is way too stiff in your modified BOV.
So after much searching and frustration and a headache. The turbo timer is installed. Since the information seems to be out there but is completely scattered and unorganized, I thought I'd put up a how-to. Thanks to my bro who's an electrical tech/engr.-----How to Install an Apexi Turbo...
Are you talking about the 95 ECU problem where they die out?Check your ECU for codes. If you wanna do it without a scanner do the key dance and your CEL should blink a code(s).
ok... So are you asking why some 420A guys don't flip the compressor side pointing down? I have mine pointed down and I don't have a spacer. If I had a spacer I'd have to remove my radiator fans, which I obviously want to keep. You can point it either up or down, but down is makes it a lot...
IMPO, I hated the sound of my car when it was NA with a resonator in place of my cat. Sounded super ricey so I stuck my cat back on and it sounded a lot deeper and better.
Have you listened to if your ASD is clicking when you turn your key to on? If not it's gone. But since you're getting a pretty low reading, something's gotta be wired wrong, or frayed possibly. Trace your wires from the coil. You only have 3 wires: ground, signal, and power. Ground (black and...
There are plenty of headers out there for the 420A motor.2.5" should be good for the 420A application, also is good for a turbo set-up (although 3" is better). There is a power-gain but it won't be that much noticeable at all, honestly.I agree. I threw a resonator in the placement of...
Don't know if you've fixed your problem, but definitely check your timing and re-check it again. Even a tooth off it'll cause bad things in the long run. So you said that your exhaust cam is 180* off? Did that fix the problem? I had the same problem where not only was my exhaust cam 180* off...
Ook, thanks for the info, guys. I have a screamin' Demon coil as well and just need the connector for it since my connection is a round pin and not a flat pin. Just tryin' to figure out why she isn't starting is all. I'm just gonna re-check over EVERYTHING again :|
Ok, so after i re-built my bottom-end of my engine after turbo I had used the MSD coil pack with my stock ignition wires. I asked a friend in town if anything catastrophic would happen. Well I decided to just throw it all together and yea she started for a while, then she went dead on me. My...
its nice at an angle because it has a slightly less bend rather than systems that bend for the muffler to stick out straight back. the slightly less bent, for lack of better wording, compared to the one that bends all the way is supposed to create better flow. if it is even noticeable. has...
Haven't had a lot of time to work on her. But today I think I'll have some time. Gettin' layered up for the cold then seein' what I can do today. I'll edit this poast later and give an update on the status.Update:
So my bro and I did tests and its gettin signal fine to the coil connector...
Haha, this is my problem too! But mine was after I built the bottom-end, and my car just seems to hate me :cry:Definitely check fuel, spark, and compression like everybody has said already. And don't forget to check your timing. And re-check your timing. And re-check it again :thumb: by the...
Ok, thanks, Ryan, for the info. I am sure it's on the same cylinder. I checked it like 10 times or more to make sure my mind wasn't playing tricks on me. Hard to find time to work on her with finals running a muck in my life right now. Thanks, Boosted, for another scenario it could be, but...
Thanks, TOONAH, for all the help. If I had a timing light or osclliscope handy I would hook it right up and check everything right off for the spark in #1 as it reaches TDC, but I don't.I'm gonna check my timing again and see if it jumped any teeth. Doing this again to make sure it's right...
Yea the wire harness is caught on something; I need to find where the bind is and bring it around so nothing gets fried. Not to worry now since I'm still trying to get my car to just start. I have a thread all about it :pThe wire nuts by the ECU are the SAFC wires I don't need to use.
Ok so... I removed my VC and was checking my cams. They're lined up and whatnot with the factory marks on them facing each other (3 o'clock intake and 9 o'clock exhaust). When I rotate the engine, the intake valve opens as expected, BUT the exhaust valve opens right after the intake valve...
Yea I've checked both relays. The one on the left is the ASD, correct? And the one on the right is the fuel pump relay? Both are working fine they clicked when I tested them. SOOO I'm hoping it is a from heat/corrosion. It would make my life easier!!! 'Cause right now I'm :barf:Well that is...
ok say that after i do the test for the click, and if it does click, what would the problem be then? dead ECU? leaking capacitors in the ECU? there isnt an inline fuse to the coil is there? just wondering
so problem was a blown ASD relay. i wasnt gettin anything when i tested it. thats what sends the signal to the coil pack correct? since i wasnt gettin spark. i hope this is the problem! thanks man!
hoe-kay... So where would my relay be for the coil pack? Or in other words, the ignition relay, correct? I still have yet to test continuity since I need to find a helper still. I'm really hoping my ECU is ok. Are '96's ECU's pretty good? I know the '95's had some issues with theirs dying...
Ok so I got a zero reading for ground. For signal and power I get zero too... That doesn't sound right does it. One should be 12v right? When I turn the key to the on position? So that means I'm losing power somewhere, correct? I hate electrical stuff, man :toobad: That's Why I stick with the...
Sorry guys I havnt been on in a few days. Thanksgiving and was with family. Anyways! Onto the subject...Got rid of code 11. Wire broke loose and had to re-solder it. Now problem is no spark. Now from what I think; tried to fire her up and definitely sounded like shw wanted to start, but...
yes the GST exhaust does fit the RS and GS model eclipse that have the 420A motor :)but the GSX exhaust will not fit a 420A system because it has to be routed under the rear differential if i have my facts straight.and taylor, good to hear another 420A joining the boosted club :thumb:
I got an engine code 11. Looked it up and it could be no signal from the CAS to the PCM. Timing belt jumped 1 tooth or more. Or it has intermittent loss of signal from the CAS or CPS to the PCM.I've got brand new NGK plugs and a brand new coil. I understand that if the CAS or CPS isn't...
Well I know that there are a lot of brands out there that use the N1 name tag, but are not official Apex'i N1's. I presume Tsudo is one that takes the N1 exhaust design and brand their name on it. Corrext me if I am wrong guys. That's just my .02.By the way.. since yous gots a 3 incher; are...
Sorry to resurect this thread, guys, :beatentodeath: but, my car still won't start!! I've redone the timing countless times. Replaced the CAS and the CPS sensors. Re-checked compression, spark, and fuel over and over again. And all the engine does is... TURN!! :( Nothing more.Could my...
2GNT.com - GSGoinFast_Turbosystemcheck that out. Budget boost if you wanna do it yourself. And if you have the tools to do it too. Cheaper than the HRC kit!!! I went the piece my own turbo kit myself route. Definitely cheaper and worth it after all the hours and days and months and years of...
Like said before... that's a no no :nono:And the GST exhaust is proven to be good too.OR... instead of a 3" go 2.5". There is a thread or something that's all about exhaust flow and performance. You would want to get rid of backpressure but a 3" will not help you at all. Think of a...
Yea, I thought the same thing when I took a look at it.I have a Garret t3/t4 but it's not a S16g... .50 A/R wait... I think it's a .48 A/R, lol. But it gets to full spool to around what you said, turbogs. Mine is about 3300-4000 rpm. I also have the Star log manifold, which is supposedly...
Good article; I remember reading that when I was prepping for turbo conversion. Good find. :dsm:By the way, a bit off topic here I apologize, but, 420aNEWB, what was your turbo route/plan? Just wondering :o) Good to hear another 420A joining the boosted 420A club :rocks:
well the thing is flipboi is i dont have my stock fpr anymore and hoping itll run with 2 rising rate regulators... itll run but i dont know how it will.. i feel like im gonna mess something up
yea i know theyre black as all heck. i bought new plugs and going to see whatll happen today. man wiah i hadnt thrown away my stock fpr. i really messed things up for myself.and yes i have my stock injectors back in.
Well since you're still N/A, it'll be kinda loud. That's ok. I have an Apex'i N1 Exhaust too. Sounds awesome :thumb: Sounds good with a turbo too! Mmm Mmm good! :rocks:
I second 96TurboGS. It won't kill anything :thumb:And the turbo mani? I myself have a star manifold and a Garret T3/T4, but I don't have the same turbo you're plannin' on getting. HRC is a good place to look for that kind of stuff. OR you can just piece a turbo kit up yourself. But make sure...
I somehow flooded my cylinders with fuel... So I'm leaving it to dry up overnight.. I tried to start her today and she didn't spark, and when I turned the key to off I heard a BIG POP!! coming out my exhaust (backfire is what I presume). Went under the car and all I smelled in the exhaust was...
Ok so I installed the new CAS and it still won't start. I was 110% certain that my timing is right on. I had to get a special connector for the new CAS; you think I soldered the wires in wrong? I figured the dar wires would go together and the two solid colored wires would go together and the...
