I hate to bring up an old thread here. I made 198 WHP at 7.5 PSI on my stock SOHC 4g64 with a small 16g. Being that i have a distributor system and CANT control timing with my water/meth and all that snazzy shit, im VERY limited to power output. Im about to transition to coils from distributor...
Lol i have this same feeling with my neighbors. When i first bought my house this guy would constantly wake up at 5am to warm up his harley by revving it, come home at 2 am revving the shit out of it. I never said a single thing. One day, i got sick of it and ordered a 5 inch straight pipe...
I plan to ditch mine too. We have financial problems and others. Weve veen together for 6 years. Last year i borrowed money from the people i work for to buy a house, which is in my name. She has promised and promised to make more money but nothing has changed other than the fact that she...
I quit smoking december 29 2011. I smoked for 12 years and i quit cold turkey. The first 9 months are the hardest but its not bad. Once you realize how great life is and how bad people stink thats true motivation. Not to mention i was smoking $230 a month! With that said, i gained 20 lbs...
Looks like you used a grinding stone? It looks pitted looking like a grinding stone would do to aluminum. I would run a sanding drum thru there and leave the sanding drum finish. However, im not a professional so please dont get offended.
This is the start of my 2g head. Here is some port work that i did on my galant head. Before i did the port work and did the 60 mm throttle body on it i ran a 12.62 in the 1/8 mile (car was N/A then). After this port work i ran a 10.34 I have no records nor any need to prove this. However...
Ive been running my ebay O2 housing like that for 3 years with not a single issue at all. Port it out and call it a day. If you do use that one make sure you use those thick gaskets for the o2 to turbo. The mating surface isnt 100% flat (atlesat on mine) so i had to use the thick gasket instead...
Both times that i got pulled by a charger cop, was at night and i thought they wanted to race me.. LOL.. Needless to say i dont drop gears before i do full inspection. Damn this story just made me fall out of my chair
I own a 96 dodge ram cummins with the hx35. The hx35 is a good turbo. At wot and 30-35lbs it moves my 6200lb truck from 0-60 in under 7 seconds and thats a pretty much stock truck.. And i still use it to tow 9-10k lbs. Im a believer in holset turbos. Not to mention my truck has 230k miles...
I always tell mine she is getting a pair of slippers and a dildo.. If she dont like the slippers she can go f#@k herself! Lmao! Jk mine is getting a 9mm this year. I used to buy her parts for her 2g gsx but ahe decided to sell it to me so that wouldnt be fair lol
If it was me i wouldnt use it BUT if i HAD do here is what i would do.. Drill a hole at the end of the crack that way it stops it from spreading farther out. Grind a groove along the crack on both sides then weld it. That should surely work.
The sweet spot for mpg is to keep it at 2k rpm. Above that and you lose mpg. My truck has absolutely no problem doing over 70. However, my truck is 2wd and not 4wd. Idk what mpg on a 4wd is
Mine is an automatic. Ive had to rebuild the trans but its got the goodies to handle 800wtq which ill never see that. Ive done all the "free mods" and thats as far as ill go with mine.because its a work truck.
I own a 96 dodge ram 2500 with the cummins 12 valve turbo diesel. They can be had for around 8k or cheaper. The 12v cummins is known for its reliability and they are super easy to work on and even easier to make alot of power. I tow a 9k lb boat sometimes and it tows with no problem. Around the...
Just to let you know. That is usually a sign that your harmonic balancer is on its way out. Trust me, i learned the hard way twice. Check that and if the rubber doesnt look good then replace it. Parks auto parts (around here thats what its called) sells them new for 65 bucks.
If the engine is at TDC and you try to rotate the exhaust cam by itself it will hit the piston, thats why you cant get it to turn. Turn the crankshaft 180 deg either way and try to turn that exhaust cam. See how that goes for ya. If not, you have another issue.
I run meth and i get a good bit of use out of one gallon. My car doesnt get driven much, but i would say that one gallon will easily last me 3 fill ups. I run the smallest nozzle on very low boost though.
I run a cut crank in my 4g64 and have been for the past 3 years and one year of that ive been turbo'd. I beat the snot out of the engine and its still going strong.
Didnt both of us have this conversation when i wanted to buy your setup? Ive been on the galant forum for over 6 years and ive NEVER heard of a single galant crank walking and most of these guys run original engines with over 150k on them. Im not saying its IMPOSSIBLE but its just very very very...
Ive personally taken apart 3 7 bolt engines. One which was a 5 speed awd and none of them had excessive crank play and they were all over 140k with no rebuild. I guess there is a certain percentage that fail. On the other hand, the 7 bolt 4g64 dont have the crank walk issue and it is essentially...
Shine a light in all the ports to see if you see any light around the valves on the bottom of the cylinder head. If you dont see light then you should be good to go
That is absolutely not true what so ever. The 1g rod will NOT fit onto a 2g crank. Trust me, I learned the hard way. Wound up spending as much to machine the rods to fit a 2g crank as i would have for a set of eagles. Its a good bit thicker on the big end AND the bearings are not the same width...
All the dsms here are parked in yards or.on jackstands. Rofl. Im from johns island in charlesron sc. I dont own a dsm but i own a custom turbo built 97 galant. My gf owns a 96 gsx thats either parked in her yard or in my garage on jackatandsSent from my Droid using Tapatalk
DO NOT put that on your car... I learned the hard way that those wastegates are WAYYYY out of adjustment. I threw a rod in the gf's car from the wastegate being set wrong. If its adjustable then adjust it or you WILL be sorry.
GSX is a slug off of the line for just normal driving. Some of you may disagree but stock for stock GSX doesnt get up and going like a GST.. Ive driven both.....
That looks exactly like a bad valve stem seal to me. My gf's 2g had ALL 16 of them lift up on hers after the rebuild and all ports looked like that. I ASSUME they were all the wrong size because its not possible. LOL Anyways does that sound sound like its coming from the timing belt area? My...
IDK where to start or how to do this. I just need values from you guys as a base starting point. Ive never tuned before so i just need some help if you guys dont mind. The galant is very similar to the 2g Spyder except for we have distributor and they have coil packs. So that means i cant...
Honestly i only use gray RTV for my build these days. I used to use red and black but they all leaked within months. Gray and im running oil leak free 3 years. I went to autozone and got the tube u can get for a caulking gun for like 18 bucks which is 5x the amount that u get in a little tube...
is the mount bad? I had this issue with my galant (same mounting points as a 2g) and i shifted the motor mount too far when i installed it and it was rubbing where it mounted on the chassis. It was very strange but that 1/8'' made a HUGE difference.
LOL. Your car doesnt have a MAP sensor. It has a MAS or MAF sensor. Whichever floats your boat. And the fact that your first post has the words "check engine light is on" OFFICIALLY makes you a DSM owner. I dont own one personally. Ive built my gf's gst and gsx. After dealing with them and how...
My gf's old talon would feel like it was hitting a brick wall at around 4k rpm. It didnt backfire or anything of that nature but it did turn out there was a HUGE boost leak around the POS stock plastic piping where it met the BOV. IDK how it happened but there was a 1'' hole. Check your tune...
Here is my thought. If its not an all ball out drag car dont worry about it. If it makes you slow then do some upgrades. Dont let the speed or acceleration factor hinder your want or desire to put a stereo system in your car. There are larger turbos on the market you know. LOL
My rule of thumb is to not cheap out on brakes and suspension because at the end of the day you HAVE to be able to stop and steer to be safe ;-). K-sports shouldnt cost 2000 bucks.. I got some for my galant (which is the exact same for a 2g) for 700 shipped to my door brand new. Save up and get...
Ive never heard of anyone using copper spray for anything other than head gaskets and exhaust stuff. I personally would not trust it. Gray RTV is the best stuff to use IMO.
