Thanks for the info Dert. I do believe I'm going to replace my fuel injectors next. I got to do some research to see what type I need, but first going to replace the stock fuel pressure regulator with the Weapon R one I purchased. The car is running alot better now tho. Even my lifter knock is...

    No boost under load

Okay I did my leak down test and to no resolve. I didn't hear or feel any boost leaks. The good news is I boosted 11lbs after putting my old road tune on. It seems to boost really slow tho and late it starts about 3300rpm and peaks at 11PSI at 6100rpm. My idle has improved but seems to stutter a...

    No boost under load

I have a 1995 Eagle talon TSI and it will not boost over 2 psi. I just had to change my headgasket and pretty much redid the whole top end of the car with OEM new parts. I did the 100,000 mile stuff since i had the head off. I did notice when I manually hit the throttle from the cable control...

maybe I will stop bythe first half of the day. Have college to go to in the evening. Yeah pretty sure its the waste-gate but could be wrong. When I manually hit the throttle cable I don't see the waste-gate actuator arm move at all. I figure I just need to take the C clamp off and open and close...

White Smoke / Car Is Smoking White [Merged 7-9]

Sounds like you have some serious problems under the hood. As was stated already I would change the PCV out if you haven't already done so becuase it's the cheapest solution. Check all your oil connections going to the turbo and seal on your Valve cover because these gaskets if not seated...

    Anyone know who makes this?

If your going just for the cosmetic look of the RRE cover. Should get yourself a Coil-on-plug setup and have looks and Functionabilty. Plus it eliminates your stock coil pack. Really does make your engine look better and makes your car run better. I dropped 200 RPM on idle after installing the...

Car Overheated / Overheating / Overheats [MERGED]

Is there any smoke coming out of the Exhaust? If so what color? I would start with your thermostat for sure since it's inexpensive and common. Check all your hoses that are connected to the cooling system. Ensure your radiator cap is sealing properly and also your cap just above your thermostat...

The "Let's fix my car" Thread

Do you have any Catalytic Convertor's on your car? When I still had the stock stock exhaust on and not a Turboback. My car would do this becuase i had a bad Catalytic Covertor and O2 sensor. Also might be time for new fuel injector's or fuel filter. Also couldn't hurt to upgrade your spark plug...

    tsi burning

Could be because maybe your Headgasket is cracked. Check to see if you have the proper torque on the head. Might have a bad hose somewhere on the Cooling system. Check your all your radiator hoses and ensure thier not leaking, loose, or kinked. Could be your radiator could has a blockage or...

    my new engine bay!

You did a real nice job for sure. I believe you will have to move the AFPR also. Always fill the wholes and paint over if they bother you that bad:)Dang! My paint cost $50 dollars a can. Bluestream Metallic Tri-coat isn't a cheap color. I guess that's why I paid $9,000 for the Chevrolet...

+1Yeah, 2 inches is quite abit and wish I didn't go so low with my Talon I hit almost every Little hole of slight rise of pavement with my front bumper. Here's a couple recommendations for shocks. I personnally have the Koni adjustable and Have owned the KYB gas shocks and they both...

Completely STUMPED !!!! weird problems !!

+1Check your Idle control Sensor. It's located just underneath your throttle body and see if it has alot of build up on it. Also ensure that the electrical connector is seated properly. Have you checked to see if the wastegate Actuator arm is loose or needs tightened. Would lead to slow...

    Finally a DSMer :D

Welcome, Seems like you found yourself a good project car. I have a 2009 WRX as my DD driver but still Love my DSM more. I would do a boost leak check on it for starters if it's mechanically sound and running well. Look around the valve cover and head for oil leaks or tubes that may have started...

Need advice on ebay external wastegate o2 housing

I'm always suspicious of ebay parts due to the random sellers. I believe you get what you pay for and if it's on your car you definitely want to get a quality product. In theory it would work though if you didn't have the money for better. Maybe the one from Punishment Racing because it seems to...

    Buying 91 TSi AWD

Definitely sounds like a good deal to me since it stored and the parts were never put on and you can do the proper maintenance to get the car right where you want it. Good find I believe and hopefully it turns out to be a reliable fast car for you. I'm looking for a 1G Eagle talon AWD Automatic...

    Tackling the head gasket

I see your running a good amount of boost. I would recommend a OEM MLS Head Gasket. Make sure to label aeverything and take your time also. Questions about gushing coolant

Your pictures arent loading for some reason or might have some helpful information. Aftermarket Valve Cover?

I have never heard or seen any aftermarket Valve covers. I have seen some pretty well fabricated ones tho. Like thermal coating and painted with added inlets. Buying first DSM

Yeah, I would keep looking for a bit since this has quite a few problems that could prove to be a sign of things to come in the future. If it's venting to atmosphere should have it tuned to account for this. I think I might myself go back to a recirculating setup. There's a 1G in the DSM...

    Is a 4G63A the same as a 4G63T without a turbo?

Yeah a front mount intercooler would be a good idea for a Evo III 16G. Remember the bigger the intercooler the more time it take to fill with air so boost response might slow down a bit. It also matters what supporting mods you are going to implement with the 16G. Hopefully you read the tech...

    92 tsi problems

Yeah your Dsm will give you some problems if you haven't spent the time to do proper maintenance. Sounds like your ISC is done, but I also would check and see if your timing marks are lined up. Uh oh - Is my motor toast? :(

Could be a few different issues. Are you seeing any smoke or overheating during or after your drive? A few more details would be helpful. A stock ricered out gs for a turbo'd gst

If you love your car that much and have that much attachment. I'm not sure the extra speed you will gain from the GST or GSX will stop the pain. The 4G63 SWAP ON THE 2.4L would be the best path if your truely stuck on your car. Nothing like a Quick AWD. I haven't missed my GS since I got my TSI...

    Good or Bad Idea?

The pictures from craiglist aren't very detailed and very low quality. Looks like he installed a new Valve cover on the car. The CAS shouldn't be to hard to do with a hayne's manual or maybe check Vfaq.com. I would definitely low ball him with the $1500 price tag for this car since it doesn't...

How much did you pay for your DSM?

I paid 10, 000 for my 1995 Eagle Talon TSI with 90,000 miles on it,back in 2007. Had a few mod's done to it, but since I was new to DSM's and hadn't done my research alot of supporting mod's had been cheaply applied or weren't on the car. I been learning with a quickness proper maintenance will...

    FWD vs. AWD

Looks like your from Michigan, so AWD would be nice to have even though FWD is descent in the snow. I came from Washington State and had no troubles in the snow at all with winter tires of coarse. I would wait for the AWD but if you need a car now and the GST had been properly maintained and...

    New GS-T. first mods?

If your looking for a loud blowout valve the HKS Super Sequential is intense and will definitely let everyone know car is boosting, LOL. I have one one my Talon and it's almost to loud at times. I also had one on my 3000GT TT and it was just to loud, so had to switch to the Greddy which was...

New head gasket question snapped head bolt

I would throw a stock MLS on there would be alot better for the new owner. The Felpro would work tho. The Arps are a better choice. I'm going to try and reuse mine when I pull my head. :thumb:

I have a few questions about my car.(Pics)

I was thinking that was a Ebay setup you had on your intake. It looks like a custom job on the exhaust. The only thing that kept me from saying Billy Boat was the fact it looked like there was a resonator on it. Looks like it has good welds tho. Black smoke could just mean it's running rich...

How Mush boost can i run

+2 I agree, 14 or 15 PSI is the most I'd run with your set up to keep your car a reliable Daily Driver. Definitely do a Boost Leak check before you bump it up tho to ensure your not leaking and pushing your turbo to much. :hellyeah:

i am stumpped on am over heating issue please help

Cometic aren't known to be the most reliable headgaskets. A OEM MLS would have been better, or the HKS MLS. If any of the symptoms listed in the above stated replies, or from the blown headgasket tech article I linked then probably the headgasket is the culprit. I'm thinking your having loss in...

Yeah, Sulpher smell normally is becuase your car is running in a rich condition. What type of fuel you running in it? Might try to lower the octane, or use a different oil. When you change your oil check if it's a milky color and check your coolant to make sure your mot losing any out the...
