I have mine completely removed and haven't had any problems. I removed it when I installed my front mount intercooler. Another option is to install an aftermarket power steering cooler...

Base fuel pressure for a 2g is 43.5 psi with vacuum disconnected from fuel pressure regulator. This has been asked a few times, don't forget to use the search tool.

With this setup and a good tune you should be pushing around 300 hp to the wheels. You'll also need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to keep the wally 255 in check. 660cc injectors will be fine but what are your goals for the car? I can't really taste the difference to be honest. I just use whichever is available and not flat. Main ingredient is the jack lol! It always goes down smooth.

Glad to see you got this resolved. I had trouble using that style of logger cable as well. I ended up getting a logger cable off of ebay which just plugs right into the OBD1 port. Never had any issues after that. It's $30 but it's plug and play. If you search around, you may be able to find one...

There are some useful intercooler removal/install writeups in the tech forums for a 1g. Nek is correct that installing a intercooler is pretty self explanatory no matter what piping configuration you choose. Hope this helps...
