When you see a brother rollin', just throw up the Peace Sign/DUB or blip the High Beams if you don't have that split second.I always make an effort to recognize :dsm: Family ;) :rocks: :thumb: :D
Does anyone have the resources to find out how RARE Turbo DSMs are?
I have always been curious of the Production Numbers. All Years....All DSM (Mitsu, Eagle, Plymouth)....by the Year please, if possible. Not interested in the Non-Turbo's, only the Turbo Cars.FYI: Did you know......the...
NGK-R BR7ES- up to 25 psi on 90 octane pump gas 8,000 miles and still kicking :thumb:http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e237/kpgsx/DSC04471.jpg
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e237/kpgsx/DSC04468.jpgBeen thinking of trying the BR8ES's but didn't know if they would be too cold...
From reading your post....If your boost is steadily held at 17 psi...how is your vacuum? Do you hold 11-20 in. hg of steady (meaning the needle is smooth and steady) vacuum at idle?Is your base timing set properly? 5 deg. BTDC at 750 idle, and all that?Have you run any good High...
Why? Any timing numbers out of boost are irrelevant to peak performance. Do you go WOT below 4000 rpm?Timing should dip back to 10-13 degrees intially as boost "hits" and steadily climb to Timing Peak (16-21 degrees) without hiccup/retard throughout the Boost/RPM band.If you want to...
From everything I have read what you said is true. You want a nice starting point with no retard throughout the pull, only further advancement. The rate of Timing Advancement is knock/detonation dependant...if the knock sensor detects ANY it holds or pulls timing.1G's have a pretty...
Hey Nice car!!Anyways, I would say your GSX' value is about $6500, +/- $1500 since I cannot actually see it or hear it run.Put a clutch in it, wash it up real nice and run around for a few days with a for sale sign visible...you could probably get $7000 if you worked it right...:thumb...
stock Cast Iron Flywheel (if still useable) and ACT 2600 is perfect for 80% of us...:rolleyes:I highly recommend the 2600 over the 2100 because I have owned both with lots of street/track miles on both, the 2600 will hold all of a B16g when its all dialed in and making good power....a 2600...
Hey, which head/intake configuration is your 6 bolt swap? I know a 1G head will require much stretching of the 2G wiring harness.Check your coil plug connector.
Check the Crank Angle Sensor connector.Best of luck.
it requires that you register with their site to Agree with You.99.9% of us are real lazy on the keyboard.I would like to see a whole segment on Past history, Current and Future Turbo Tech, design, manufacturing, balancing, and really just something that was more indepth than a few few...
Once you decide to move above "direct bolt on" turbo's such as T25/FPbig28/MHI16g or whatever....you should really just go ahead and go external WG....with turbo's ranging from 50trims to PTE's SCM-6176, boost control will be a big issue when you try to tune.
l3ang-It is important to note, you have a 2G FWD specific transmission. There are no JDM 2G FWD transmissions.Just get a Complete 4g63T 6 bolt AWD transmission combo JDM engine and you'll have enough stuff to perform a proper 6 bolt swap AND you can sell the JDM transmission to a needy...
Haven't we all:cry: , New DSMers come about every day!Its nearly impossible to do a In Car BSE.To complete the BSE you need to block off the front oil galley holes that feed the bearings, and believe me, it is one heck of a PITA with the engine in the car. You cannot get the oil pump...
increasing the size of my radiator inlet helped my airflow problems quite a bit and it still looks acceptable to me. I removed my A/C condensor with the FMIC install, so our setups differ slightly (I only use the main fan also), but I can now make back to back 1st-
4th gear pulls and I would...
Agreed.^I cannot assess much just by Text. Post up some pictures of all the damaged components.I have seen many failures....and root cause of failures is usually a very wide scope of errors in assembly.Scuffing of cylinder walls can also happen if the piston/wall clearance is too...
as long as you used the Modified 2G mount (which I see in your pics :D ) and the 1g/6bolt tensioner arm you should be good to go...:rolleyes:I cannot recall if that assembly had any play in it...:toobad:What kind of oil does a real mechanic like yourself use in your DSM? (Oil has been...
AL-hey man, I have been here for a minute(DSMtuners) so I feel obligated to speak as well.
These cars were engineered to EXACT tolerances, and if one of those tolerances is outside of "servicable spec" it usually boils down to part failure or mechanic install failure.4G63/4 oil pans do...
keep up the great work!It brings back old memories to see another person going through the same thing with such meticulous practices and documentation...:thumb:You'll be so happy very soon!
From my milder approach I have seen good results on 20 psi and 25 psi with a 50/50 cut of 91/c16 116 octane....:thumb:No dyno session or completely flawless shift 1/4's.....but I will note publicly that my car is not "fine tuned" (no SAFC, or logging stuff...purely a burned chip) by any...
^ Whatever, .....we all know the risk associated with "non track" related exaggerated driving., and I don't need anyone nagging me, I am a "big (165lbs) boy".I have you all beat so far...and do not mean to sound like I am bragging....I do not condone in town stupid antics...
Was the Cylinder head rebuilt to OEM Brand New Spec?If not, I second valve stem seals. :rocks:I know it sucks to blow smoke and look foolish, but if its not Mosquito Fogging you might just drive it till you can pull the head and freshen it up proper.
97-99 GSX rims are my overall fav.Followed closely by my Eagle Alloy 193 17x7's :thumb: I felt like $180.00 for the set was a fair asking price :rocks:
I work for Cummins. We have a WHOLE SHELF of nothing but Water Cooled Holset HX40's....No lie :sneaky:There are so many variations of the HX40 its not even funny. Here is photographic proof....each of these Green Engines has a Watercooled HX40 on it:They are 8.3L I6's.That...
Have you checked all Wire Connectors under the hood?An unplugged MAS will give symtoms like you are describing. Also, if you have upgraded Open Element Air Filter you should check the Honeycomb Screen(s) in the MAS itself.I diagnosed a problem much like you are talking about (not a...
My Evo III 16g did not blow oil by the exhaust seal under boost and I have BSE'd 6 bolt.On the other hand, my Precision 6152e did not like the abnormally high oil pressure....so I just installed a .8mm brass restrictor and it works great....no problems whatsoever.:thumb:
I disagree with the FPBig28 being the 11 second "reliable" turbo selection.Has another car besides Lauren's 99 GSX ever run an 11.9x with the FPbig28 no nitrous?A 50 trim variant would be my recommendation based on myself wanting comparable performance as 95TSIAWD.I got a 56 trim and...
I never truely realized how crappy pump was till I ran some 100% VP 116 through the tank.I know you said you tried 100 octane, but try some VP 116...it is awesome
That rust looks extensive....I would be hesitant about THAT particular chassis.I can understand your point about restoration though...when all thats left are Die Hard DSMers out there in the world, there will not be enough DSM's to go around....and much like Mopars, the immaculate ones will...
A nice 18-24" pry bar slipped inbetween the transfer case and transmission usually does the trick for me.I have had to use a 40 oz rubber dead blow with a 18" pry bar before though. You'll get it...:thumb:
What is the clutch like before failure? Do you get ANY miles out of a disc?Instant snappage?Something is definetly wrong here.I got over 10,000 miles/100+ launches out of my 16G, 650, Act 2100.How is engagement? Just off the floor, have to pump it up, 3" off the floor.Be a...
The green Holset is a HT4C. It has 90mm inducer on the compressor!!!The 20g looking one is a destroyed FPbig28.Now, All those turbos are either installed, sold, or junk.Because Sean,....Their cool like that....that and I like to collect odd stuff.
looks like a T3 flanged RS49.48 hotside means it will come up on boost real quick and be choked up top.....OR perfect for a 1.6 Vtec.63 is the norm for 2.0L
so anyways, my setup is STILL working great..EWG's off the 02 sensor hoousing work great..Ebay WG's and professionally fabbed custom o2 sensor housings rock. This guy has a jig for OEM fitment...hit him up
www.hesspower.com
just get a used bolt on AGP RS60 and call it a day.Otherwise this Precision 6152e I have been running just keeps getting better IMHO.
330-340 pump gas whp capable all day.Lag? Whats that? 4500 till 20 psi is nuthing when you have rode in a 50trim + AWD with 116 octane.just .02 though
I love ebay. Even though I bought what was described to be a ACT 2600 pressure plate, showed up and was infact a ACT 2100 Pressure Plate, I feel its a great place to find good deals.I am a DIYer from way back, I started by building a Dodge 318 on the tailgate of a Chevy S10 that ran 10,000...
