Does anyone have experience with the SOHC 4g63? I recently bought a Mighty Max and it has developed a severe leak in the front main seal area.I am having trouble taking the tensioner off of the timing belt. I took the adjustment bolt out of the bottom and the only other thing I can see...
Alright, so I haven't seen one of these threads in years. Time to see how everyone compares with their PS skills from back in the days.Rules of the game:1) You may only make 1 (one, uno, ichi) change to the vehicle. This means you can drop it but not change the wheels.2) The next...
three years later and this thread is still going?Three years later and still no more DSM. Sold my grand prix for a Tundra. Working at Red Lobster as a cook and looking to get into management soon. You better believe I'll be looking to get back in the DSM world when money starts flowing...
my auto shop teacher said that he had a 650cc motorcycle engine from a bike he had but wrecked. he said the motor and tranny was still good. my question is.... is it going to be very fast or will it be real sluggish. i have no clue about motorcylce engine. He said that he would look at the...
well then what about aftermarket guides? Do they exist? For the limited vac, you would just need a vacuum canister like some of the wilder v8s use when they have radical cams.
but even if a valve is no longer a restriction, wouldnt you still gain some hp because of the increased air flow of the lift? more air in means more fuel which means more HP. Maybe there is just something im not getting here.
Ive tried searching, but to no avail.Ive been out of the DSM loop for a while, but recently have come back. I was looking at the available cams, and was wondering why all the lifts were so low? The highest ive seen has been around .400. Reading Polk's 1g head flow write up it seems like...
if you have the hook up, then go for it. The age of the exhaust does not matter as long as it doenst have any rust or holes (which could be repaired regardless, but it wouldnt want to go through that hassle). I would go ahead and get that ehaust then.
I would honestly get a custom bent one from a local exhaust shop. Most likely wont be mandrel bends, but with the money you save from the exhaust, you can buy something else.
for the exhaust, you do not have to swap out the exhaust manifold. Get a turbo back exhaust (or at least a catback) and the turbo should bolt right up no matter if its a 14b or b16g. Your stock manifold should be fine for what you want to do, but if you want to get a little more out of it, you...
get a full exhuast, then injectors, fuel pump, and dsmlink. An exhaust will help a LOT and then the fuel system to support higher boost. Like what was stated above, the stock side mount will suffice for now with the 14b, but it would be a nice thing to have if you happen to find one cheap.
who has that vid of the fully built 1g burning to the ground on its first launch. Launched, stuttered and went up in flames. Driver walked away holding his head. That thing was soooo sexy :(
thanks luda for letting this open back up. Im willing to be cool about the hangout if it becomes more relaxed. Dont worry, I wont just troll in here. Im looking at getting another DSM and helping out one of my friends who just bought a 91 tsi AWD. So much has changed parts wise in this...
but, the hangout is dead. You need to have some sort of entertainment. sure, there were some trolls, but a lot of those trolls kept this place fun. So... are NWS threads allowed?
i recognize all those names. It sucks that life got messed up like that. It was supposed to be where anything could go. I joined there and it was pretty fun. Not very technical based, but it was a good place to read a few flames.
because the hang out wasnt moderated like a prison and people actually had a good time here. It seems like the hangout is really really boring lately. No drama, no NWS thread, no random posts. Thats what made the good ol days good.
whatever happened to....Cucumber: I remember him having the baddest vert id ever seen. I still remember his sig, 300hp girl's carTheHyena: I remember he got banned and went of to life. Was he ever let back in?Thong Fridays (or was it Thursday?)Eclipse4x4: He was car of the month...
i remember drooling over your car back in the day. And it still makes me drool. Werent you the one that won that audio contest for best setup, but it was still all in boxes, or was that someone else?
Well, one of my friends is buying a 91 tsi awd 5-speed, and he was asking me about them since I used to own a 96 GST AT. My parents bought it for me on December 4th, 2002. I loved that car. It was a POS and i pretty much put all my money into it, but i loved that thing. I called it The Black...
while we COULD have done that, we only had some premade bends from Jegs to work with and that piping route just wasn't possible. We didn't have any way to get it to an exhaust shop for the bends and they would have all been crush bent anyways.
The piping was the hardest part of this build. I was either blowing holes in it trying to weld the pipes together, or we didnt have the right size couplers, or pipes were hitting misc parts. Major pain. But im happy that its done and the owner likes the end result.edit: Pete, quite trying to...
I'm helping black4banger work on his carThe return line is a little kinked. Would that be enough to hold back the oil from draining and cause oil to seep into the turbo seals? Just a wild guess.
The kit is not SS Autochromes, but another. I asked on here a while back about it and heard nothing but good things about it. The kit im installing for a friend is in the process of coming together and we just had a major setback. The turbo doesnt fit under the hood. We tried to rotate it, but...
Im helping put together black4banger's turbo kit. There is someone selling a FMU but cant remember what ratio it is. They only make 10:1 and 12:1 right? will a 10:1 work on a 95 ok? or do you need a 12:1? Is there a way to check what ratio is by looking at it or destinct markings? its a vortech...
it sounds pretty windy and the sky didnt look clear, so im guessing that they were forced to land and they had a gust of wind come when they were about to land hence the sudden side swerve
where is that old picture of the ugly hick guy in the green talon. He had something on the side. That car was chopped to hell a few years ago. Any old school guys remember it or have it?
there are way more reasons NOT to date a street racer (esp a chick) than good reasons. I think someone posted an actual list at one point a long time ago
depending on the year, it probably has a 350 since its auto (the 350 never came with a manual in an IROC) and if you completly redo the exhaust, get a miniram(if TPI) intake manifold and a mild cam, those things will fly. But most likely its stock and slowsorry if this offends anyone as i...
your lack of reading skills is impressive. AGAIN, i have a 3.8 V6, i have never owned a V8 in my life. And again, i used to own a DSM and loved it. My parents were the ones that made me give it up. Im not bashing DSMs or any 4 cylinder. If you look back on my other posts, i stated that i stuck...
