I blead them thats when i noticed they was different. There shorter,the oil grove on three of them are different than the other 13, And the oil hole one the side of 3 is smaller.sad part is im over a hundred hours and about 5k into my build and about a day or so from starting her up now...
I bought some 3g lifters from muddfisher85 well come to find out 3 of them are shorter than the other 13 and he told me nothing about that.are they different lifters?will they work?i thought all 3mm 3g lifters were the same hight?im stuck on my build now because of this guy.please help
Ive ran the oem composite for years the only time i ever poped one is when i also broke 4 Pistons from a bad tune. i have a good tune now and all has been fine and thats at 26 psi daily. Your tune will make or brake you.
Ive never had coated pistons before thats whats throwing me off. Im scared that if i do a .004 ptw that the coating will wear off and put me a .0045 and ill be loose and have piston slap and have blow by. This will be a street driving car also, i dont a loose motor or piston slap.
Thanks man. I been getting so many different answers its hard to deside. im leaning toward .004 ptw and .0020 top and .0023 bottom. Would that we considered loose for a 500 crank hp motor maybe a lil more on the track hear and there? I have a 35r ill be pushing 30-32 psi on meth with 272 cams.

i thought a .004 sounded better but was told after my piston coating wears off the will go from .0035 to .004 is the true?im also running oil squirters so the piston shouldnt get as hot as it does w/o the squirters.

what would you put you ptw clearences at if you was runing around 500 crank hp?on ,manley 8:5:1 coated pistons .0035 or .004?and how about ring gaps does .020 top and .0022 or .0023 second ring sound good?helpfull people needed

i have had my pte 5030e for 3 years now i did have to get it rebuilt 3 times sence i added a oil line restrictor and went with 10-40 oil instead of 10 30 i was useing and i never had a problem sence.it was geting to much oil pressure and it was smoking after the restrictor it never smoked again...
get npr piston rings there like 30 bucks on ebay.i paid 80 and got oem pistons and rings and there still holding strong on the first motor i ever rebuilt.npr rocks
i grounded mine today to set the timeing and it droped about 200 rpm when grounded.i used white out and set my base timing to 5 degree advance.i used a 50$ timing light and had no preoblems with it makes things easy no guess work.

id ditch the 2g bov and get a 1g there better and dont leak at over stock boost settings like the 2g bov.i ran my uncrushed 1g bov to 23 ps1 no problems.but they are not loud if you want loud get a vented unit and run a gm maf sensor
