Last time I went out to the old DSM meet after I finished the motor build, it was a ghost town! I don't mind the location, but you are right, it would be nice to have a bathroom/food/beverage place close. I can see the lack of hindering how long people stay.Nate
As for the Random Misfire, try changing plugs & Wires. For the other, check to see that all the injector plugs are secure and have no frayed wires.Nate
I actually have a thread on here about the same thing, I am a mechanical CAD Engineer by trade, and have modeled (in my spare time) the pistons, rods, crank, cyl head, full valve train, flywheel, valve cover, and a whole lot more (most everything but the block itself, as I don't have an extra...
In the tv series "Viper" from the mid to late 90's, there were always 2G talons in them (funny that just about every car in that series was a Chrysler product LOL).Nate
I though I posted in this thread already, guess not....Name is Nate,
live and work in South Central Phoenix as a CAD Engineer1996 Eclipse GST (until I find a GSX parts car)
Fully built forged motor, and everything under the sun done on this thing! Been a DSM builder/ wrencher/owner...
Another thing that works really good, is Harbor Freight's 1/2" belt sander. Looks like an angle grinder, with a 1/2" wide, maybe 8" long belt sander on it. I used it to do the majority of my head porting as I could really get in there deep and remove material fast with course belts, then used a...
Damn it! I won't be the only 2g with blue rims anymore. LOL I prefer the thicker spoke, but as said already, choose what YOU like. I also agree that size/offset is not going to clear very well.Nate
Very cool! Looks like they do great work. I could think of a few things I'd like to see done. Maybe a new fuse box cover with all the labling etched into it.Nate
Is there tension on the clutch fork from the slave cylinder when the clutch is out? I know it may sound dumb, but if there is not enough pressure being applied to the fork when the clutch is out, the fork could be rattling on TOB. Just an idea?Nate
I personally run the Nitto Neo-Gen. It's a fairly cheap tire, but grips good dry or wet. wear is excellent as well. I had them on my Fiancé's dd car for about 4 years before they needed replaced. dry and warm, they stick to the road like duct tape! I'm sure it's not the best tire out...
I have the Inovative LC-1, and to satisfy my OCD, I have Autometer Cobalt series guages, and changed my stock cluster to LED's, Blue numbers and Red needles. They all match perfectly, and the LC-1 is a sinch to log in link. In the end, you will go with what you like, and the only advice I can...
I may do that when it's done. I have the tailight section part done, just have to get a filler neck and install that, then clean it up a bit, and paint. Here are some pics of what I have done so far.Nate
Thanks. The reason I am doing it, is because I am going for a nice smooth clean body. I shaved the door handles, badges, emblems, antenae, spoiler, washer nozzles, and side mparkers, and when I repaint it (I was rushed the first time and it's not perfect, so I am gonna redo it all) I will also...
I am doing that on mine, but I am relocating my filler cap to the center light section. in the finger gap at the top, there is a button. Press that button and the center tailight hinges down to reveal a filler neck/cap. I don't mind it being there, I don't see why everyone thinks it is a pita to...
No problem, glad I could help. Downtime is the best time to do all the little things. I did a LOT of litle detail things while I was building my motor. All the attention to detail will definately pay off when you get her together and fire it up! All in all, Have fun with it!Nate
Dupli-Color Metalcast. Comes in several colors available at O'Reiley's auto, Autozone, etc. It was sometihing I just decided to try for the hell of it one day, and was really impressed with the results! Clean parts with alcahol first, shoot 1 coat at a time as the paint is candy and the more...
All the bolts on my engine are stainless steel, and I "anodized" them blue. There is a metal paint (can't remember what it's called off hand) that is made for spraying shiny mmetal to make it look anodized. I just got stainless hardware (already polished) and poked them through a box and shot...
A true short throw shifter actually changes the fulcrum point and the geometry of the shifter. Cutting/welding changes the leverage of the shift rod. Both will shorten the throw between gears, but the cutting/welding will actually relocate the knob lower as the short throw kit will not. I...
The rewire will help ensure you maintain a consistant fuel pressure and is well worth the small amount of time required to install it. When tuning, you definately want consistancy out of everything!Nate
Could also be the TOB. The TOB should keep the shift fork aligned and not alow execive movement up and down. Try pulling off the rubber cover on the inspection hole of the bell housing and looking in there. Also, is there any noise in that area when the clutch is disengaged?Nate
I like using the Ruberized Undercoating spray, Works well for both, is cheap, and easy to do . Just make sure you are in a ventelated area as that stuff stinks to high he11! Just a suggestion. Good luck.Nate
That should turn out nice. I wouldn't mind doing one of these. I use that area for tool storage a lot, and would like it if the gap was filled in better (less tools and bolts falling through) :)Nate
When I got my Walbro 255, it came with a wire harness clip. One end plugged into the pump, and the other fit the stock plug on the hanger. Did yours not come with it?Nate
Gold rims on black cars remind me of the '85 Lamborghini Countach 5000S Quatrovalvo (The only countach that came with gold rims) and it looked GOOD on that car, but it was a different style rim though. I wonder what those rims would look like on a black 2G?
Nobody has mentioned the "bubble" in the corner of the 2GB headlights.I am not sure if ALL 2GB's have it or not, but all the ones I have seen do. It is purely cosmetic and does not affect fittment alone, but it's a difference in any case. Just thought that might be worth bringing up.Nate
Coilovers are the best way to go since they offer full adjustability, but are not always the most wallet friendly for a lot of people. Lowering springs can be used, but be prepared to get different shocks too as they will blow out soon after because when lowered, they are always compressed and...
Like they said, need more info. Is it RPM sensitive (faster with higher engine speed), does it do it only when moving or while sitting still as well, does it do it only in gear or in neutral too, what general location is the noise comming from? Help us to help you.Nate
Welcome, and good luck, hopefully it's in good enough condition and the price is right for you. A lot of ricey things done to cars can be taken off, the main thing is the condition of the mechanics (engiine, trans, clutch, diff. etc) and how it was maintained. Post up some pics when you get a...
I don't hate on people for doing this to their cars (it's their car), but my Personal taste is that it's f'n retarted! But again, that's my opinion, and I (unlike many) don't try to force my opinions onto anyone else, as it is just that...an opinion. The way I see it, everyone has their...
Could be the starter itself too. I have had a car come in that the starter housing (round part of it around the gear) actually broke off the starter, and wedged between the starter gear and flywheel, and since it was broke, there was nothing keeping the starter bearing centered, so when the...
If the starter is spinning, but not engaging the flywheel, you may want to check the solenoid wire. It may be frayed or broken causing intermittent power to the solenoid. That would cause the starter to run but not turn over the motor. if the starter is spinning, the ground is fine.Nate
You should be able to get another CV Boot Clamp at any part store. If not, they should have stainless steel "zip" ties (for header wrap) and that will work better than any zip tie, and will not throw off the rotational balance as much as a worm clamp.Nate
Oh yea, forgot about the rear wiper, I have that to use too. LOL I have taken so much out of my car that I forget about half of it. I am working on a gas cap relocation to the center tail light right now and was thinking of using a sylonoid to open the tail light, but decided just to use a...
I don't see why it couldn't be done. The Haynes manual should have the schematics for the switch. I am doing a lot of this type of thing. I am going to re-use a lot of my stock switches for other things. for instance, my A/C switch will be used for my CO2 arming switch (it has a snow flake on...
Looks awsome! I thought about doing that to my head, but considering the amount of it that is ACTUALLY seen, and the work to maintain polished aluminum, decided not to. Props for taking the time to do it, have fun keeping it polished though.Nate
Spray painting calipers can look good too, at a fraction of the cost, you just have to prep them properly (as any painting process) and they will turn out just fine. Powdercoating is more durable, but sometimes can be limited on color (depending where you go), painting is not as chip resistant...
As far as width, you would have to know the offset as to be sure you don't rub the sidewalls. Aspect ratio will depend on the width, as well as the ride height (and turning radius in the front) again, so you don't have rubbing issues. If you don't have any rubbing now, then you can get the same...
That's BAD ASS! I like it, It actually flows nicely with the rear of the car (Better than the Viper). It would be a lot of work to do it, but I am sure it can be done.Nate
