So....not a newbie, necessarily, but I feel like one! I've been out of "the game" with my DSM for quite a few years due to money and time....Here's what I'm healing with:
'92 TSi AWD (4/6 combo)
3" thermal research cat back
2.5" downpipe and highflow cat
evo3 O2 housing with dump
evo3 exhaust...
I was told that if they bent, than something inside is probably wrong to have caused it... True or no? What do you think of the other options and costs with my end goal in mind? I am leaning toward going with the 20G wheel and machined housing as I can always change the housing later if I...
So, here's the question. I have a 1G with an MHI Evo 3 B16G with external gate off O2 housing mounted on an Evo III Exhaust mani now. The turbo may have ingested the silicone "spacer" around the stock intake and now the blades on the wheel are bent (I think.) The question is what to do now...
I bought anoter seal tonight, different manufacturer (CarQuest) it looks a little different, but still has the spring on the inside. Just doesn't have the "dust boot" that the other one had. I will try this one next, and I will check the surface of the mating surface for abrasions.
I will check the surface the next time I replace the seal AGAIN! It was also mentioned to me that the tranxaxle breather could be blocked forcing the pressure to be let off out the seal. I will check that as well. I have been buying the seal at a Checker, but I think I remember someone saying...
I am having the same problem on my passenger side seal. I have replaced it 3 times now, but it is still leaking! I have lubed it and was real careful to ake sure not to damage it putting the axle in. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
OK, I have read the VFAQ and did the test on the ISC. It's resistance seems fine across the board, but I fed 6 volts to the 2-5 and 3-6 pins and nothing happens. I took it out of the car and tried again to make sure I had a good connection on the pins, but still nothing. I then proceded to...
Tonight I will check the layout of the wires, they should be correct though. I will also attempt to check the timing. Another thought that I will check is that the exhaust may be plugged with something from shipping. I have a friend that may have a spare CAS I can try. Other than than I am...
Update....1. I got a noid light, and all of the harnesses pulse, so good there.
2. I replaced the plugs...just in case.
3. I used a stethescope, and I can hear the injectors firing.
4. The fuel pressure reads as above stated no matter what i try (plugging the return line, or plugging...
OK, I drilled/tapped the banjo bolt on top of the fuel filter last night and installed a valve and gauge. I checked the pressure according to the manual and here are the results:Cranking normal = 29 PSI untill I stop cranking, then it goes to 36 PSI
Cranking without the vaccum line on the...
Yeah, I checked those fuses. I will continue to look through the schematics and see what I cn find. I was hoping to get quick resolution from someone who has has the problem in the past.
OK, here goes... I replaced my stock exhaust, and in the process I dropped a wrench and grounded out the alternator. When I tried to start it when I was done the car started, but ran like shit and stalled. Now I cant get it started again. I blew the 80 amp alternator fuse, and replaced it. The...
I know that this has been posted in the past, but I can't seem to find it. I just spent about an hour searching different keywords and got nothing. What has everyone who shows their cars used to clean the engine bay? I know that there used to be posts where people showed pics of their...
Curious as it may be...everything else on our cars is metric except for the spark plugs. Everyone who has told of the wrong size being used is absolutely right. It is a 13/16" (the same as your stock lug nuts). Just changed my plugs today.
I would go with the Evo. Yes the STi is a great car, but overall most reviews have rated the Evo as a better buy. As far as the other cars I look for practicality in a car. The Evo can be as practical as you want it to be being that it is a sedan. You can also modify it to be insanely fast...
Your best bet will probably be to get a hold of someone who has done it.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1637459#post1637459It will be very expensive though.
Just wondering what other forum sites people from here hang out and BS at? I know about dsmtalk and some of the Locale specific forums, but I was just wondering what other sites are out there that people from here frequent.
You are right, I should have used a better title, but the thread has been viewed over 60 times, so people are al least opening it. I may have gottem a better response if I hd been more descriptive in the title though.
OK, I know this has probably been answered a time or 20, but I have been searching a bit and can't find anything but, "I have 'these' and like them." I am looking into coilovers for my 92 TSi AWD, and I am debating on Ground Control with KYB AGXs or one of the other setups (Tein, D2, Tanabe...
I was searching the othere week and stumbled upon a site that sells brand new interior pieces for the DSMs, specifically the 1G. The pieces I am looking for are the "little things" like the cloin holder, ashtray, ect. Anyone else seen this?
I know this probably seems to be a stupid question to some of you, but my valve cover is cracked and leaks. Where can I find another one? I have found many people offering to powder coat the one you have, but I need a good one. Checked the classifieds and the trader to no avail. Please help.
For all of the people that are saying that *** is better than AutoCAD, or AutoCAD is better at this or whatnot... AutoCAD has been used in some of the most developed graphics design projects on the face of the earth. The common user uses about 5-10% of the programs capabilities. I was a...
How many miles are on the car? If the milage is high you may want to look into the Mopar Combustion Chamber Cleaning on the VFAQ and discussed in more threads on here than I care to remember. My car was doing something similar, not after the MCCC!
Why do I not see you on NA's site? I agree, some of the NA crew has decent cars, Troy for example... But I am not a honda kinda guy and thats therir bread and butter. I have also had personal issues with one of their members in the past. Thats all good though. Where are the pics of your car...
From what I have seen DakotaDSM has basically disbanded. I haven't been in the scene for a little bit as I have been putting my ca$h into motocross, but some of us are still around. Most people around here get involved with Northern Animation, but if your car doesn''t look immaculate they will...
The stock gauges are total pieces...they are electrnic guesses at what the oost actually is. I know there are some articles on here explaining exactly how they operate. I purchased a vacuum controlled gauge and the difference is normally at least 3 lbs.
I am looking at a car, and am wondering what it would look like with the drift kit on it. I know Extreme Dimensions sells the kit, but if you guys know of anyone else, feel free. The cars pics follow:Thanks in advance.
The SRB for zone a is a 6,m for zone b a 6 and for c a 3.5.....but there is a cap at 60g'sI wento to Fort Lost in he Woods in July of 98(that's when i got there)
I used to be a 3e5, now a 3c0... I liked my old job, but the new one is so much better if you like learning. I have been in this career field since August, and have already learned so much! Even without formal classes (tech school was a joke!)
