I have 375hp FWD. Id say go with the 4 puck, it allows for more power to hold down if you plan on putting down around 350+. The difference between a 6 puck and a 4 puck life span wont be much either, so dont buy it on that note. I like my 4 puck more because it withstand more hard launches at...
i can vouch for this car. it is not only very fast but one of the cleanest DSM's out there! I was at IFO in BR running the civic w no rear bumper, congrads man!
this code has haunting me for a while. I have the same problem except that my car stays running and doesnt die. My ecu has leaking caps which were covered with white silicone from the previous owner.
Ha, ha you're only on #8. How do you think you will feel a couple thousand later over the year replacing what else will break. It will eventually become unevitable on a high milage, old car. Get a daily driver and use that one secondary, so you can fix it all the time or get a back-up ride.
Agreed, I'd think some coilovers would help. Preloading the rear of the car by lowering the rear and moderately raising the front will help gain some traction, along with sticky tires of course.
If u plan on upgrading your fuel system i would say yes rewire it. It wont hurt to rewire it. You will just have high rail pressure making the injector spray a little more fuel. Do u have a wideband?
Exactly what he said. Tires, mounts, and good suspension is a must. Make sure to preload the front suspension.
Another good idea is freeing up hp. Like lighter wheels, rotors, flywheels, pulleys. The engine will rev up faster also. FWD likes this!
I would think he might get more if he put a 14b 6cm housing on it (if possible). It would still look exactly the same on the outside and still behave like a 13b with a little more top end, especially if trying to keep it stock for autox'ing, to get that extra ump without adding aftermarket parts.
Its kind of hard to tell. Does it get louder as you rev it up? Did you run your engine low on oil? What caused it to happen?
What you have posted in the video sounds kind of vauge, but it might something under the timing cover. You need to get a friend to rev up the motor and get clips from...
You may have a heater control valve problem. Check you connections(they are cable connected) it may be worn or broken. I can imagine it is a pain in the ass to get to in a 2g awd, I never changed one before, but this seems to be your problem. I forgot to say that you might have a clogged...
Along with as above you may want to get an oil pump seal and cam seals. Do yourself a favor an check your compression first. A worn motor won't like the pressure from 400hp, make sure that motor is sealed internally! If you have a high mileage engine you may want to opt for a headgasket...
Look for corrosion around the battery and starter terminals also. On a side note, corrosion that is usually visible on the outside has already begun on the inside of a wire. Or the starter is beginning to fail.
A multimeter would be a tool to test your charging system and locating electrical...
Def get a boost controller to turn up the boost. You can make one for next to nothing.A logger is something like a laptop or palm device with software that can read you engines information. It usually plugs into the Diagnostic Link Connector or can be plugged into your ECU with modifying...
I bought a zoom 6puck sprung hub clutch off ebay and it lasted 2 months. springs fell out and disk material fragmented to peices. I dogged it out and it did not last long at all. My lightweight flywheel did not last long either. Whatever you do make sure not to cheap out on clutches and...
make sure to set your tps right so you have 0-100% on your throttle. you will need a multimeter for that. This is a big factor, dont just slap one on without adjusting it back to where it need to be!
for what you got and don't plan on building up then just get sell your laptop and get an SAFC. might want to upgrade your power wire to fuel pump and get a FPR, so you can have a better advantage of manipulating your fuel trim. make sure to get a wideband also.
too much oil pressure can be bad for your turbo. if you have more than 100psi of oil then the oil can be backed up through the oil drain and do some damage to your thrust bearing. That or debris caught between your turbo bearing is probably your problem. time for a rebuild.
you can even find one from a junkyard for really cheap from time to time. they are fairly easy to rebuild, so you can learn the mechanical part of the 4g63t. not only that but the ease of availability to find and use parts are greater than the 1.8.
save up for the swap.
I love my 1G with white on a black top. I normally don't like 1G because of their retro styling, but I like the panda look with larger than 17" wheels. Most of the base model 1g dsm's were single color with less trim. And they all look worn and shot now. You don't see too many nice 1g's...
i have this same problem. It just came up and cant figure it out. I have good grounds. does anybody know if pin 10 on the dlc connector goes directly to the back of the ecu and what pin number it is or what the voltage it should read? I can trace it down with a multimeter, just need a little...
def check your fuses. if you have a blown main engine fuse, i would recommend tracing the engine wire harness in the engine bay area. I've seen this happen 2 times where the egr tube melted the main power wire where they came in contact.
I think there was a recent post about doing more than just porting the oil filter housing releif valve. BogusSVO had a good theory on what can be done, but he only did it to stop lifter tick. It is possible that oil pressure will drop a little if your pressure is too high. His mod went as far...
I'll try and make it for 4pm on the lakefront as I'm coming from hammond. I'll be in an all black 2g talon. I'll probably be playing frisbee if it isn't 100+degrees out.
I noticed that there are a lot of dsm's for sale locally. SNI is full of them including mine.
There are 3 wires with a plastic connector that attaches to the back side of the cylinder lock on my driver side door. It activates and deactivates the factory alarm. One of the tabs that holds this connector securely to the back of the lock, has broke and it will no longer stay attached...
Tuck away that SAFC from the sun and get an a-pillar for that single pods mounted to the dash. You don't want accessories all over the place. Thieves looks for stuff like that also. You car looks good, just keep it clean! Keep up the upgrades and updates.
Thats funny because I'm actually selling my AWD and keeping my FWD. It seems cheaper, lol.
My long axle broke around 300hp, then I put in an AWD axle w/ carrier bearing. Any trouble keeping all that power down?
Hey Nick how much power do you actually plan on putting down? Controlling 350hp to the ground is a pretty quick car being just a fwd! And laso what axles are you running?
If you have a small gauge power wire from the battery to trunk, say like a 14gauge on a 500watt amp, you might want to consider getting a bigger gauge wire if you plan on doing the rewire. The reason being that if you have a too much current being drawn away from the battery by the amp, your...
yeah i realize this won't be an easy swap, so as it breaks my heart to disassemble my dsm once again. i will not got the 2g 7bolt to 1g swap. i'd rather rebuild the head, fix the trans, and put the stock clutch flywheel back in before i go the 2g7bolt swap. plus i know my 1g6bolts very well...
i didn't do anything different with the car. drove it home fine. all was okay. got in it started it and it was a loud noise coming from the valve/lfter area. i know the lifters were tapping before, but not near this loud. maybe jumped timing? someone give me an idea. could those lifters just...
i know this sounds backwards, but i just got a deal on a complete 7 bolt with trans, clutch, and all the extra part for dirt cheap. it came with everything minus the wire harness and ecu......
now here the story on my car it a 93 gst that came with the 7 blot. it was swapped out for a 6 bolt...
well I plan on keeping the car stock for a while and the 7 bolt is fine. I have no intentions to ge tinto the 9's maybe the 12's by the spring time. this is my dd and i'd like to keep it that way. either way the clutch line from the dealer is only 15bucks.
it is my ultimate fear in...
I drive my 95 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD daily, it's stock including the infamous 7 bolt engine, just a few suspension mods and intake and exhaust. Always runs great, like from the factory. Just rolled over 104,000 miles and the a/c quit blowing cold. It always has that ticking noise coming from the...
i'm from hammond. I own a 95 eagle talon tsi awd i bought from baton rouge a couple months ago and I also own a 93 mits eclipse gs-t that I picked up from lafayette christmas 06. i drive them both. they both have a/c also! A meet would be nice. I liked what CRAB said earlier about midnight...
