If you are still on MAF then i highly recommend you go back to recirculate to avoid the rich condition. Keep in mind the ecu has already calculated the amount of fuel to put in..If you vent to atmosphere , this will cause the car to run rich and stumble at times. You should be able to still get...
Take off the manifold and tighten two nuts on the stud if possible and start reversing , you will see the stud begin to unscrew from the head. I have had this happen to me. You can then replace with another stud, by using same method. They do sell kits to replace all as well, simlar to this...
You mentioned that you have a P0303 Misfire code for cylinder 3, have you sorted out that issue?
Can you list the o2 sensor and spark plugs you bought as well? gap ?
The misfire issue has to be fixed before you get into phantom knock or if the problem is from the knock sensor at all. Keep in...
From what i recall, when you install the thermostat, the jiggle valve on top of it has to be at the 12'oclock position. Burp the system, coolant overflow line submerged in coolant in bottle, and test it out. It is possible your thermostat was opening too late. Hopefully the OE will help. Use...
Im Glad Your car is getting the recognition it deserves ! :thumb: Front Page status now. Congrats on an always great build, looking forward to see more .That eterna grille is a nice touch, and i want that valve cover ! I wish mine looked like that.;)
On 2g's from what i have seen, BFH is for M/T LSD diffs, BFB is for m/t non-lsd. If you do not have the sticker, you could compare the axles to a non lsd car for example. From what i recall the LSD axles are a bit shorter than non lsd, the cups are a bit different. This is only if you wan to...
On a stock new motor per service manual with 8.5 compression max was listed at 178 psi, you can use a figure like that to estimate. Keep in mind this all fluctuates on health of motor and your rebuild. Compression testing usually shows better number once rings are seated after good break in. It...
Great build, cant wait to see whats next ! Hopefully ill get to see this car in action one day, maybe a dsm meet in the area. Mckinney is a few miles away from me, im glad more dsm s are coming up in this area. Awesome work man !
You should at least have around 14v without accessories or to low 13v with some accessories on while motor is idling. .
For parasitic drain put your Dvom on Amps and and probe on amp 10a socket on dvom. Pull negative cable and place red on cable negative and black on negative battery post while...
If you want e85 compatible , you can start with Walbro 450.. keep in mind you will need more fuel and possibly a bigger fuel pump depending on your horsepower goal
Congrats Jeff ! That 7 made the man speechless. Great effort, been watching this car for years now. English crew doing awesome things with this Auto..:thumb:
Check on the maf sensor for resistance value between pin 6 and 8 for 2.3-3.0 Kohms at 68 F
Check tps at .63 volts and gradually throttle to 100% while logging motor off, and see if values rise to 5v.
It is odd as you say, mine is spliced in to white wire pin4..might be connection issue...my tps...
Regardless, that holset should not have been fed from the head. Feed it from the ofh with a specific restrictor( icant recall .070??) to limit max at 75ish as stated above^^
Most factory Mitsu turbos we have seen are fed from head, and not to mention ball bearing turbos with a slight restrictor...
Do you have speed density ?
Code 11 for the 02 sensor could possibly be an issue with pin 4 on ecu that you spliced into to narrowband simulate.
Code 13 for IAT is in the maf or the connector...not sure if you spliced in an iat snesor speed density.
Code 14 for the TPS, is it reading 5 volts at...
If the battery light goes out once you start the car, does it eventually start flickering while your driving ?
If the alternators are good(even though i have seen plenty bad off the shelf) then it is time to check the ecu. On 2gs there is a driver called Qxx(i cannot recall exactly), these can...
Check for proper fluid level first to start. If you can drive around until the car is heated up to operating temp, then park it on level surface and leave motor running. Cycle the gear shifter from P down to 1 pausing for a sec on each and back up to Neutral and let it idle for a min. Pull...
The 96 galant 90 amp will swap over for a 2g dsm since it has a 4 pin plug. 91-93 galant has 2 pin plug like 1g dsm to swap over plug and play. That would be nice if OP could find one, i cant get lucky around junkyards here to find that generation galant anymore :(
Relax, im only wording it this way as he is tuning live while idling to get ltft and stft close to zero as possible. Adding in and subtracting in increments usually narrows it down...regardless just shooting for Combined ft close to zero. Just to clarify my bad though, on the 1g i usually use...
If it is a Mitsubishi, the vin will start with 4A3xxxx
The 5th digit will be for drivetrain : "F" for FWD GS-T or "G" for AWD GSXThe 8th digit will be for engine code, "F" or "U" for 4g63 TurboThe 10th digit will be the year S(95) T(96) V(97) W(98) X(99) There is no U for year...
Global is actually affected by LTFT...if your ltft is in the +10% for example you want to take global closer to zero. The global might end up in the - 50s by the time your settled.
Deadtime will be affected by STFT, adjust deadtime up or down until stft is close to zero.
Watch LTFt at the same...
Once the wheel and the splash guard come off, you have more wiggle room from the bottom and the side. Loosen the Alternator tensioner bolt and bracket if you have to and this will get the belt off, it runs on alternator to outer water pump pulley and down to crank pulley. The power steering pump...
What is your global set at ? Im suing this formula right now :
Global = (100 * ( 450 / NewInjFlow ) ) - 100
= (100 * (450 / 1160) ) -100
= -61
Start with -61 global and 330 deadtime then adjust from there for low combined ft...27-.28 airflow per rev is to be...
Thats gonna be up to you how soon you can get your parts before the 28th as you mentioned. If your going to be dyno tuned and you can get speed density installed in time, that would be great. Keep in mind that if you are dyno tuned on maf and you switch to speed density, you will need to retune...
Im gonna second Dsmkauai and support going with Tial and sped density while you are at it. Honestly im about to order a Tial by next week since i sold my type rs greddy...Eventually at high boost you start having leak issues and the flange design with bolts is not a perfect seal. Going with Tial...
Download the service manual, should almost be the same for GVR4..i looked through the circuit diagram and found the ignition switch power distribution below. Narrow it down by each component and check wiring for short to ground...
You took your dsm to Rich ? Why bro ?:barf:
I wish you had asked on the local forum, i could have told you the joker"tuning" is bad for your car. Speed factory has blown so many motors. I dont wanna sit here and bash, but im not sure why they even have this dude as an instructor in the...
Boost leak test first. If you have actual misfires check for codes if you have a check engine light.
Most misfires is see with peope having issues by using crappy platinum plugs and/or incorrect spark plug gap. Pull the plugs to check them and make sure you got NGK BPR6ES and gap the at .028"
Even though your car is a 95, i was able to search through the 97-99 service manual and look at wiring for fuse list. The "Room Lamp" fuse is listed as #11 with a 10 Amp fuse and this following list of items run through this fusible link:
Auto-cruise-ECU (battery back up)
dome light,
door-ajar...
An enormous group buy to kickstart the mold being made...hmmm. It would take 1000 dsmers at 30 bucks a piece or 100 dsmers at 300 a piece for example. plus the cost to buy one set at 125. Who will own the rights to the mold or the original, you ? Wouldnt you have to become a Freelancer on this...
Auto and manual do have different starters. Make sure the correct starter plate is used in between the engine and trans and if the starter is matching.
Just to correct the thread title, Autos do not use a Flywheel, only manuals have that. What you see in the first pic is the Torque converter...
The only time i have seen a 2g knock sensor in a 1g dsm is when using AEM ems standalone. Otherwise it will not work with a 1g ecu.
The 2g sensor is more sensitive and linear than than the 1g sensor. The filters are different and the 2g sensor will not communicate properly with your 1g ecu, thus...
lol you were that bored digging up a thread. I laughed the whole time reading it though...Delusions of grandeur, uneducated bad grammar, 3k a month is apparently a BIG salary and some how he will make it to the DEA working for the feds. Arguing with Justin only to eat it later. Supposedly his...
Is the P port on the throttle body just open ? Plug it up or use it for a boost gauge source and just leave fpr straight to intake manifold if you want, ive done that. Check for for other boost leaks and if you are still at -5 at idle, it is probably junk like the guys are saying .
Every now and then on this forum, someone new or someone still researching will post up an open ended question as the title of a thread. It ends up eventually 5+ pages long of members throwing in their opinion, and debating amongst themselves on whats better..yet the op usually never responds...
DAMN ! where have i been.... All this has been going on ?? Insults,criticism,depression,suicide....wow you guys can see the destructive pattern here. This thread AHHHHHH ... just wont end...Its effing sad !:beatentodeath:OP for real dude , you are going to Ohio to the shootout this...
Have you installed the cable with correct driver from ecmtuning and set the COM port to identify it from your device manager ? The Com port number has to be selected from he connect menu in ecmtuning. Do you get an error when you hit the connect on Link. You can test the diagnostic connector by...
Wow thats damn fast ! Freaking 3g body though =/
I remember brent rau was in the 6's as well a few years back, he was rocking a 2g body though. I guess the Aussies mean business as usual. GAS motorsports has some of the fastest 2jzs in Australia as well. Drag racing is pretty big out there.
Under the carpet in the passenger side footwell, the abs computer is there behind an aluminum plate. The hydraulic unit is under the power steering reservoir in the engine bay if you look downwards behind the splash shield for the driver side wheel.
From what i recall on the 95 i had, the light on dash shows "anti-lock"... You can check if there is a fuse for ABS in the engine fuse box and in the driverside fender well, you can see the abs hydraulic unit with lines running to it.
Temperature Sensor (sensor in t-stat housing) - G/B and Y/G
Coolant Temperature Gauge (single spade terminal) - Y/G
Coolant Temperature Switch (double spade terminal) - B/G and G/Y (#5 in pic above)
Check ECT sensor circuit, probable culprit to long cold start issue. Check pcv valve if its stuck, gummed up with oil or make a catch can setup to alleviate crankcase pressure. You can also check compression on the motor to determine if its healthy, too much blowby is not good.
Fix ect sensor...
Thanks for confirming Brian. I found a few pics that can help better. Brian also posted in this thread about an issue like this with links http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/430522-knock-sensor-questions.html
