Hey shane, Thanks a ton, I'm actually in South San Jose, but come to Los Banos, Fresno area here and there. I was going to buy a starion or pair of Starions from Dave Wollin, who lives out an hour and a half east of Los Banos.
I ended up picking one up from San Diego, and am planning on...
Just street. I would hate to get wheel hop though if I'm putting too much power down. I know that I can put mini van tow spacers in the rear suspension to prevent traction loss, but I'd like to be able to drive at 400whp or 430whp without feeling it all go down the toilet in 1st and 2nd gear...
I have a 4g64 block w 63 head, 30r Garrett, and trying to figure out whether I should put it in a gs Spyder 2g or not...it's the only Mitsubishi other than mighty max that can drop in without much engine bay/ motor mount fab, from what I understand.
If I do this, I might as well keep fwd, but...
Thanks a lot! My engine is already assembled and in the mighty max. but it's hooked up to that stock tranny in that POS since I never went through with building that truck. It's a block from an earlier 1991 4g64, so I'm assuming I'll probably need an adaptor plate, yea?
oh this is great news then. So I can pretty much drop it into a spyder and make it awd getting a 4 bolt rear, drive shaft and awd tranny? obviously a bit more than just that, but basically?
I'm swapping a built 4g64 shortblock with a 63 turbo head into something...but can't decide. Of course I'd love to mess around and throw it in a foxbody or even a 67 fastback stang but I'm not sure anyone shop would be up for that project.
I was thinking about putting it into a 2gen eclipse...
Sweet. So they'd be pretty knowledgeable about doing any sort of swaps and fab work?? motor mounts, bellhousing adaptors, tuning all that good stuff?
Thanks a ton!
Hey everyone,
I've been a dsmer since 2004 but have been out of it for a few years. I'm getting enough money to where I can get back to messing with my tsi awd & mighty max with a 4g64/3 and I'm in LA frequently now. I've heard great things about the DSM shops and cliques in Socal and just...
I have an awd tsi Talon 91 and everything has been going great, up until now, when I just got a check engine light. The odd thing is, the check engine light doesn't come on until a minute or two into the car warming up. Sometimes not even until I drive. That is why I would think its an O2...
how much cutting or modifying do u think is necessary for a 9 inch. I heard those are indestructible for what I'm going for. I mean I'll settle with an 8.8 out of a toyota except I need to know if it can handle 450. if I weld the diff, do u think it'll hang fine even if I launch it?
Hey, I know this is strictly a DSM forum, but I was wondering if anyone knew ### kinda rear end I can fit into my Mighty Max so that it can handle the power the 2.4L 4g63t I have in there throws at it.
Will a ford 9 inch fit? or should I just try something else?
any advice helps, thanks
oh hmmmm....thats interesting. I completely understand how annoying that must be. I guess it's our job to find every loop hole in the system to get that unfairly taken money back?
god damn it.I didn't think because of the age of a car that would make it more likely to become Test Only. I thought it was only based on the cars being tampered with or modified on a majority basis for the car type. I mean I know old cars get inefficient and can't pass smog so is it...
haha sweet. out of state plates... how hard is it to get those?oh and is it possible, if you get a fix it ticket for all your mods under your hood, to just take the car off registration and the charges will dropped?
no no I know they aren't a dodge around the smog. I know that I have to get the car smogged. But what I'm trying to say is that no cop on the street can red flag me to go to a state ref to remove all my modifications if the insurance company I'm under (the collectors insurance) already knows the...
okay well if you are on this insurance, smog can be taken care of. I'm not worried about the "test only" situation. What I'm worried about is getting smog reffed on the street by a cop who decides he wants me to pop my hood. With this insurance it pretty much lets the officer know that it's not...
yea i have had mine for almost 11 months now. All I have to say is it's the best investment you'll ever make in ## dsm. JUST MAKE SURE to adjust your cable under your stick shifter and boot with a couple 10's because your throws will definitely not match what your old transmission had set. I...
oh wow awesome. I was just about to call them on friday but then one of my buddies, "who often claims he knows more than he actually does" told me that you can't qualify if you're not pre 91 or something like that... well Now that you say it, I'll definitely give them a call about it tomorrow. I...
is anyone using collector car insurance for their dsm? I was told Grundy is a good one to use if you're not daily driving your ride. Is anyone else using this or have any other alternatives. The only reason Im asking a stupid question like this is because I'm in California, where the smog...
hey guys... I am really trying to figure out ### insurance ppl go with when they have cars they only want to take out on weekends or once or twice in a couple weeks. Does anyone know of anything good for this?
I have just finished having my 4g64 block bored out. I bought 87mm pistons for it and since the stock bore is something like 86.5, the hone and bore to 87 gives it a bit more displacement. I mean how much more displacement did you want? 2.5 sounds good if u're gonna boost like me
hey guys I have a blowthrough set up on my dsm and the cuppler on the elbow keeps popping off. The top or bottom lip keeps getting sucked into the elbow and the car stahls. Other than that she runs perfect. I tried doubling up on clamps and I even tried t-bolts... ### should I do? Is welding a...
hey, I'm installing an act 2900 into my shep tranny. I was wondering if anyone knew ### kind of tranny fluid would be best for it and where I'd get it.
I see people selling cylinder heads off of gs eclipses and claiming they'll fit any turbo application. I didn't know if this were true. The only thing thta I could think that would be different would be the cams. Does n e one know if the cylinder heads are exactly the same or not?
thank you
Someone had already gone through my block and overbored it to a bigger size than the piston I had bought for it. I have 87m pistons .20 over and to my surprise they were too small. A previous owner had honed it out to .40 over. I was stuck w either sending the pistons back across the country and...

hahahah. thats hilarious. But I've never actly done that b4 so I thought it was just tacky to do. I know there are tons of lowering springs for toyota and mazda b2600 trucks and I figured myb that stuff would fit my truck since they're all similar but I guess not.Bottom line question: is it...
I heard that the new lancers have this crap called a 4b11. Apparently the new evos will have this same engine just force inducted.
Can n e one fill me in on this.
If its true, I'm kind of excited. Finally we won't be associated with Evo owners anymore. I can't stand the people who drive...
Woops. I meant the pistons I ordered were from the 4g64 block with the 4g63 head swap, even tho I"m keeping my stock head. The pistons are 87mm and I needed to hone my block .5mm to get it there. So n e way I need to find a 87mm head gasket.
I have a 1991 mighty max that has a 4g64 sohc 8 valve. I need to know where I can get a head gasket that can fit my head considering that I had the block honed .5mm so that the 1g pistons could fit. The measurement for the cylinders is 87mm now. Can anyone help me?
Well its a 1991 mighty max. I know that the earlier years came w a 6 bolt. But here's the thing: the guy that I bought the car from said he replaced the motor w his dad. It has 60k original miles on it which is awesome, but it would just suck if I ordered the wrong pistons and rods. So, I went...
