I took a few pictures that I could refer to for assembly. Mainly orientation of the spring, or you could mark it with a paint marker. As far as setting the TPS, it's pretty straight forward too :hellyeah:TPS Adjustment
If the seller of the car rebuilt the motor himself, it could have simply been from not removing previous shavings and or who knows what.I ordered the wrong size main bearings once, it was a late night mistake :ohdamn:I think I ordered them from MAP and the sizes were MM, and I forgot...
Do you know how many miles were on the rebuild?I would assume the pistons and rings should be reusable. If the cylinders need honed you can get a new set of rings to match the pistons (standard or bored over) from wiseco or many vendors that sell wiseco pistons.Rods should be fine, but...
Welcome! If it's the clutch, it may just need adjusting. Metal in the case is never a good thingManuals are pretty straight forward, as long as the case is in good shape.Lots of info on VFAQ for do it yourself, or learn about it so the shop doesn't bend you over :pTranny Rebuild...
How does your state do emissions testing? Here in OH, they just use the OBDII system to check for DTC's and do a visual inspection for a catalytic converter to be "present".I have a look-a-like converter on my GST, basically a shell of a converter without the honeycomb inside!
Personally, I would make sure the gasket doesn't prevent flow.Slight beveling of the flange shouldn't hurt the integrity of the welds.I would not with the welds on the inside. If you do decide to massage them a bit, they may crack, and you can always have them welded back up.
My GST would torque steer like no other! Basically pull you into the ditch!I picked up a Quaife differential off ebay for around $900. It was brand new.Added a bunch of mods in the process of installing it. I would say i'm around your HP range, maybe more. The differential is one of the...
Sounds like when you took the one wheel off the motor was on the compression stroke, then when you switched to the other side, you reversed it until you got resistance again ( pistons heading to TDC)All this is assuming you were removing your wheels with a breaker bar or wheel wrench while it...
Is it just the driver side floor pan?I am guessing that the car had a broken driver window or it was partially down.My buddy and I pulled out a 70 ford Torino out of his grandpa's shed that was basically collapsing onto it. Floor pans were almost completely rotted out of it because of water...
I would recommend the unsprung disk.I have an ACT unsprung 6 puck in my 2g. Its a little tricky driving slow in parking lots but havn't had any problems with it :thumb:
Wow, hard way to learn to fix things before it gets worse :ohdamn:Pick up a roller and swap out your good parts. I looked on craigslist the other day and there were quite a few in the Cleveland/Akron/Ashtabula area. Not exactly sure what your budget is, but might be hard to find no rust...
Justin,The guy I bought my car off of said that this turbo was a ported and clipped 20g, is that correct? He had deleted the coolant feed and just bypassed it into the block. I assume that is okay with the use of a turbo timer to give it some time to cool down? Also, the last picture...
Might also check this. I came across it a few days ago, I thought it was on here, but I found it on dsmtalk.com, and the pics don't work nowAnyways here is the link: 2G hatch fix for weak latch pop ups.Basically, remove the center cover in the trunk. Look at the lever with the spring...
Actually that is the feed line for the turbo, it might be a little hard to tell from the picture, the line comes straight off the coolant pipe, it's not a return line. I pulled up the diagram on a cd rom manual that I have and checked it out.The turbo now doesn't have any coolant lines run...
It's hard to tell what's what when you get a car thats been molested! The line was a feed attached to the front side of the 7 bolt block, the 6 bolt block doesn't have a fitting there.I thought of the turbo, but there were no coolant feed lines or return lines attached to it when I...
In the middle of a 6 bolt swap (first timer:hellyeah:) and have a quick question about what to do with one of the coolant lines.6 bolt short block with 2g head, thermostat housing, and water pipe. What should I do with this line that originally went to the 7bolt block? My brain tells...
Ahh I hear you.My carbon fiber hood's clear was in really bad shape too, I scuffed it up, layed on a bunch of coats of primer, base, and clear, it came out really nice.I will have to try to find a pic to show before and after.
Very true about you get what you pay for, the materials aren't cheap. There is a body shop around my that my neighbor uses for restorations of muscle cars and on the cheap side he charges $150 per panel. So you figure 4 fenders + 2 doors + hood + hatch = 8 pieces x 150= $1200 on the low...
Wow, I know what i'm doing every night for the next week or two lolEvery one of his vids are like 10 min long :ohdamn:Very informative and indepth, he deserves a raise!
Yea, notice how I have mine facing upward, we think alike.I was at a car audio show and a guy had two 18" subs that were about 4" from the rear hatch glass of a 2g, also facing upward, and they slammed!I guess the sound waves bounce off the rear hatch nicely!
I did away with the spare completely. It's not my daily driver so I figured what the heck. Thats what AAA is for anyways right? :hellyeah:<a href="http://s165.photobucket.com/albums/u65/cisco5311/?action=view&current=winterfun032.jpg" target="_blank"><img...
WOW! That is rare for a company to back it up now a days.Hopefully it will work for you and you won't have to mess around and send it back.I hate when you get all excited when new parts come and then find out they won't fit :banghead:
Does it thread into the thermostat housing? Looks close to the size of the temp sensor and since there is thread sealant on there makes me think it's home once was the thermosat housing.Check and see if a wire is connected to whatever is threaded in there now.
You could always sand down the fiberglass hood and color match it to your car.The clear they use on those doesn't really hold up when the fiberglass contracts and expands.
What is the price range your looking to spend?Depending on the condition of your paint, it might be able to just be lighly sanded and painted over.If your clear is pealing, it may require more attention.
A lot of times you can get a good deal out of people like that because they don't have a clue about what they have. Most of the time a shop did the work or a buddy hooked them up.
