After swapping a unknown but supposedly freshly rebuilt long block into my 94 Talon ES 2.0NT, I’m having an odd issue with cylinder #3 not firing at all. What I’ve tested/tried:
Full 150+ psi compression on all cylinders
Plug wire is making plenty of spark
Injector has been swapped out with...
2G Baer brake kit, still in great shape and comes with everything needed to bolt up. These have less than 10,000k on them as my low mileage 95 TSi has never been on the track, sadly...
Includes:
13” Cobra R vented cross drilled & slotted rotors
Dual piston calipers + pads that still look about...
Did you check the fuse panel under the drivers side dash area and under-hood? It sounds like you could have blown a ground off something. You need to make sure those fuses are actually getting 12v to one side and the other is a chassis ground. Sounds like a couple hours with a continuity tester.
By acidic sound, could that have been some coolant burning off the exhaust somewhere? Was your coolant overflow tank full? Also, what about the thermostat? Is it stock or have your checked? I might be sticking. Pretty common with those cars.
I was at that show most of the day and the 'cruise' attempt afterwards that never really happened. There were a handful of us but I don't recall any names.Let's try to coordinate something better this year so we all know where to park, etc.
Well I ran out of patience (very easily on a Sunday evening) and ended up tapping it on. It wasn't going without a fight so that's what I gave it. GENTLY, tapped with a 24mm socket + shop rag in between the gear and socket. Make sure you're centered and be careful with that collar! It always...
Any luck yet? I'm having the same exact issue with my Evo 3 5th gear from Jacks. The new intermediate gear just won't start on the shaft. The stock part fits snug but at least starts surely. The yellow painted/rough side goes in toward the bell housing side of the trans. Sounds like your bad...
FWIW, here's a picture of said nut (the off-centered synchro is resting on it):Mine was 3 full turns lose :notgood:There wasn't any noticeable damage to the end cap or reverse cone but I'm going to put a new wave spring in there for good measure.Since I've gone this far, I MIGHT as well...
The Geocities page went DOWN, but fortunately I found it with the way back machine search tool:http://web.archive.org/web/20091025135445/http://geocities.com/qwik93awd/Vfaq/shifter.htmThis should be added to the Tech section...
My car's road worthy again! I'd like to host another meet in August at my place. Until then, how about a cruise to or meet at Fast Fridays etc. Who's in?
Thanks to everyone for showing up on Sunday. Despite the rain, we had a decent turn out - I think there was around 10?? of us there.Feel free to post pics (COLE!) if you took any...so I can photoshop my car in there and pretend it runs worth a crap!
Well we're not getting any cooperation from the weather today, it's already pissin' here and windy as hell. I guess we should've had it yesterday...I sure won't hold it against anyone for not showing up, but if you want to come out, I'll be in the garage regardless. http://g.co/maps/4mj4b...
You say it's a knock from the camshaft area, is it more of a high pitched ticking sound? A lot of guys confuse lifter tick with bottom end issues. If you want to rule that out:

Yeah...what he said! But I'll admit it, used to rock those cheesy blue painted bulbs. But then I upgrade to all white LEDs. This is probably the best interior mod you can do IMO, check out this thread:

+1 for a clean engine, the blue really stands out, but probably won't stand up to the heat; at least the manifold won't. It's gonna smell awesome when you first heat it up! Anyways, it will be interesting to see what happens, please post a pic after you've ran it for 5000 mles!
The problem with the "race" tubular welded manifolds are just that. It's welded steel that's not going to last very long due to the extreme heat. The 2G manifolds are pretty solid really. Port it for cheap and save money for an exhaust. That stock exhaust and cat will be a bigger restriction and...
It depends mostly on how low you wanna go and the spring rate. I run the Eibach pro-kit which might be the least amount of drop besides the H&R springs. Coupled with Koni yellows at their softest setting rides pretty close to stock IMO. Adjusted around half is perfect for me and anything above -...
FWIW, I'm running 10w30 synthetic. I'll play around with different weights this season... I have noticed the oil pressure stays pretty high even after idling for awhile. I assume this is a good thing and its reassuring to see something useful after the piece of crap stock oil sender died for the...
+1 for all he said. For junkyards, guys around here spend a lot of time at Pick n Pull or U-wrench it when I lived on the East coast. Not sure what's available in SoCal but I'd guess there's alot. That's WAY cheaper then the stealership.
Good informative post. I just installed an oil pressure gauge and see 20-25psi warm (coolant = 210-225*F) at idle, 900 rpm. Is this an alarmingly high?
Sick interior, I like the custom dual speaker moldingDoes the white reflect off the back of the windshield? You could make that section black or +1 for adding carbon fiber..everywhere!New seats would be a nice touch
So I shelled over a couple bucks to GoDaddy and bought the KCDSM domain again. There's no official website over there yet, and I doubt I'll have time to create one anytime soon so I have it redirected to the Kansas City Area DSM Forum here for the time being.Anyways, it's a quick and easy...
+1 on the Innovate.Honestly having the wideband alone isn't good for much other than an early warning, without the capability to actually tune the car. Even then, if you can't log and line up the RPM with the wideband data, it's still useless. I see so many guys with fancy $$ wideband...
Good deal, thanks in advance for volunteering food, I'll grill as much as you all wanna bring! I'd guesstimate no more then 10 mouths to feed but who knows for sure...Good suggestion, let's meet at the Target side, there's usually less traffic/more spots available over there and not as many...
Ok the votes are in, it's on for the 15th.Check the official thread here:http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/kansas-city-area-dsm-forum/432269-kcdsm-revival-meet-04-15-2012-a.html
It's time to bring this "club" back from the dead! Let's start off the year with a cruise to and BBQ at my place. Sunday, April 15th @ noonThe plan is to start grilling around noon to whenever, BS/swap meet and then have another short cruise, etc there after.I suggest the KC group meet...
It's a 30 day $ refund if the part isn't what you want. So you'd have a month to get it checked after you pull it. I wouldn't even mess with a rebuild if you're keeping it stock.
Try Pick 'n Pull, there's like 20 different flavors of 420A cars there every time I go. They occasionally have specials and 30 days money back if the head doesn't check out.Pick-n-Pull » Locations
Or better yet, get an extra metal only (it's thinner) key made and toss it in one of these:
Walmart.com: Magnetic Key Holder: AccessoriesFind a nice flat metal spot under the car, you can reach without laying down, and never worry about being locked out again! All my vehicles have em...
