    Jackal tuning support/guide

You can add me to the list of willing helpers. While it has been some time since I have been very active on any forums, I was part of the original DS-Map work and have tuned extensively with it.

    Ebay Complete Gasket Set?

I'll second this completely. I've built 5 engines now using these gaskets and they have been great. I've used the compisite head gasket as spare parts for Rally events, and used 2 of them to get cars through events. I think with a proper install they are good to 350 hp with ARP studs. The...

Cooling fan upgrade Solution using Mitsubishi parts

First off, its damn near 3 am and I finally got mediacom working again so here's a quick poto documentary of my upgrade from a cooked and really abused factory passenger side single fan to a properly shrouded variable speed fan from a late model Galant. I go into all the details of the swap if...

    Calling all dsm rally racers

Hey guys, I'm sure you've read some of my crazy threads on here about my twincharged 1Gb talon. That setup was slated to go in my ex bosses 1991 Galant vr4 rally car. We ran Prescott Rally in 05 and 06, and finished 3rd overall with a pgt prepped car. I just couldn't get him to focus on...

Hey everyone, I've been watching the progression of this thread, and I have to say you guys are doing a nice job. I have seen variations of this over the years on 1G cars for the street, but there are risks with water and dirt, especially when conditions deteriorate or the car is used for...

Hey guys, Got all my stuff moved, nothing is where I can find it but my car keys right now. Between getting ready for a trip to the Bonnieville Salt Flats, the stupid hurricane, and unpacking, I'm a little booked up right now. The car is running well, Boost is @ 15 psi total for now, gotta...

I don't have any either yet, the engine hasn't even been started yet.The last setup did well, 2l engines don't make 25 psi @ 2500 rpm with either a turbo or a supercharger alone and then make 450 hp too. That is really the point. More low end, More mid range, and still decent top end. I...

It really isn't hot there. Maybe now with the uncovered manifold I will have to revisit it, it also mounts across the top of the cooling fans on the Radiator so there are options if you still can't sleep at night. :DThomas91169: The setup is for rally, rally X and fun street driving. It...

    Pics of my crank!

Honestly I'm not sure you did anything wrong. There are several things that come to mind, first one is over rev, next would be weak crank, third would be an underground crank that the oil holes weren't de-burred properly. I'd say get another crank in there and get back to breaking parts :D...

I haven't read every post in this thread, but something I have seen fixing customers cars that I didn't see mentioned here is small cracks in the corners of the valve cover. The cause is improper torquing of the valve cover bolts. The bolts that are in the valley of the cover are in a thin...

The trans has a nice gentle 130,000 miles on it. :sneaky: Jon at TRE is a GOD amongst men. :thumb: It is tight and quiet still. With a clutch that releases properly it still takes 7000 + rpm shifts without complaint. That isn't a Fidanza wheel. The friction surface only has 5000 miles on...

As it is installed in the car, at 45lbs /min I see .25 psi drop. I think the outlet in the middle isn't the best, but from a packaging standpoint I can't beat it. Speaking of beating on it, I ran zero car (first car on stage) at the Prescott rally with this setup @ 20 psi all weekend with zero...

    Making a t-28

I am being general here, but shoot for 1mm or .040" on the turbine side (lots of expansion room) and .5mm or .020" on the compressor side. There are very minimal advantages to going tighter than that, and the penalty is a turbo that is much more likely to damage itself if anything goes wrong...

That's nice, a viable alternative to expensive EGT gauges that are hard to read with any decent accuracy. The Temp loggers are from Fry's electronics. Just get a stick thermometer with the desired tempature range, cut the stainless tube 1/2" below the display end with a tubing cutter. Then extend the leads so you can reach the interesting locations on the car (10 - 12 feet seems to be plenty) and...

yeah so far the system is working well. It isn't as cheap as some FMIC's, but the up side is my UICP is only 20 inches long. Plus packaging is easier. I had to buy two heat exchangers. I could run a much larger charge cooler if i thought I needed to, there is room for probably 15 x 6 x 4.5...

I didn't think that statement needed alot more support. The heat exchanger is 23 x6.5x 4 inches and is fan cooled at the hot end. Water circulation rate is temp controlled and looks to take it less than 5 min with the fan to bring the system back to ambient plus 10 from 170. The heat...

    Turbo removal question

Yes, it is possible to pull the chra without removing anything more than the heat shields. 0. Spray the heat shield bolts with PB blaster. Do it again a few hours later. repeat until it looks like engine leaks oil. Breaking off bolts in the manifold sucks. 0a. remove heat shields 1. Drain...

There were a couple of factors that lead me to that wheel, the big one was that is all the wheel that will physically fit in a small MHI housing. A 57 trim would stick through the housing OMG . I looked at all the maps and this seemed to follow the engine's VE well, provide enough PR for my...

    turbo spool sound

The sound level generated by any turbo is a function of air turbulence behind the leading edge of the blades. For the same reason you can hear any fan, the blades cutting through the air cause a disturbance. The larger this disturbance, the more noise you hear. I agree with comments about...

    chassis bracing

Ok, Nick asked me to chime in on my experiences with 1G stuff. I'd say the front strut area where the seams join is an area of interest, but past my discussions with Rick and Nick the 1G chassis is quite good. A 3 point front strut brace helps as the tires get sticky. I don't think the rear...
