In case anyone is following along, an update, decided the only thing I didn't check was boost leak. Found a pretty significant leak at my PCV valve, Just a reminder to anyone trouble shooting to always go back and boost leak test. Ordered a new PCV, will update once that is replaced.
So been meaning to post an update.
As mentioned above, I had a heat issue I wanted to investigate. So I started with trying to verify the coolant system had enough coolant. I started the car with the radiator cap off, let it get warmed up and add any fluid if needed. While I was standing in...
Not sure if I should start a new thread, but have had the car out for a few short trips around he block. This past Friday, it felt good enough for a ~10min drive. Logs attached.1)I think I have a heat problem(223 degrees?), car was pushing coolant out of the overflow container. I will...
The car seems to be running as smooth as it has in a very long time, I will adjust the maf comp as described and work on the dead time. After a few short trips around the block I will report back. Probably this weekend. Thanks again!
I don't mean to frustrate anyone, sorry. Thank you for the feedback, I zero'd out the MAF as you recommended, logs attached:
-02 warmup deadtime @ 540(~7min),
-05 deadtime @495(~3min),
-06 deadtime @ 480(~lile over a min)
I have read over the fuel trim updates previously and again today.
My...
Thanks for all the ideas! So I adjusted the sliders and started the car up again. Car seemed to act very similar, but the log shows it seems to have been stuck in open loop mode to start (odd, not sure what causes this but I will investigate/research), then kicked into closed loop and the O2...
working on getting everything running correctly at idle. I took a log on Saturday (attached, 04.24-03) and my O2 sensor seems to be cycling quite normally. After the log, I did the "MAFComp adjust (combinedFT)", adjusted the sliders to the suggested values, then wrote to ECU and closed it up...
Just looking for some opinions, First the issue, my temp is slowly rising. I have attached an image of my temp logged every 30 seconds for a 17 min cruise. The temp log was taken driving around roads where I was driving between 20-40 M.P.H, but mostly cruising around 30(neighborhood).My...
thanks for the replys guys.I was following the instructions for checking timing found in the tech articles:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/306607-1g-2g-quick-timing-belt-alignment-check.htmlI think I will just pop it off/back on and see if that fixes things...
From the Photos:
Image 1: I lined the timing marks up so they were all at 9'Oclock and 3'Oclock.
Image 2: Picture of the harmonic balancer and timing mark when pic 1 was takenImage 3: I made sure cylinder#1 was at TDC and you can see the timing marks are off by 1-3 teeth
Image 4: Picture...
So I was doing some reading on here about wastegates not fully closing, and I realised I never put the valve seat in when I was installing my external wastegate :ohdamn:So I just went and installed it and took another quick run, my 3rd gear pull is posted, let me know if this is looking more...
I actually work in bentleyville, I work in the altavista business park.....The exhaust housing is brand new FP manifold, but I will look it over, thanks.......
Good call, I will update this, but how much of a difference will this make? Do you think this has anything to do with the wired boost characteristics I'm seeing? Thanks,
RyNo
oh man, I looks like I messed up the attachment, Try#2.I have done a boost leak test recently up to 20 psi, looked good. How would I tell if the wastegate was stuck open at all?
Its been a while since my last post, since that time I got a tial 44mm external wastegate and a O2 housing to mount it on:attached is the 3rd gear pull, It is not holding boost, but, it is wierd in that it seems to sit around 10psi(thats what it said on my mechanical guage, but in the log...
Just want some opinions on how you guys think there logs look. Attached are my first two third gear pulls on my rebuilt motor. I am not sure if my WBO2 is working properly. Thanks for any advice or tips,
RyNo
Hey Man,
About the oil leak from the front case area.....I just recently finished my first rebuild and had a huge leak from that area. There are multiple things that can leak and end up dripping from the bottom of the front case. I will list a few of the places that I know.
1)If you did a...
Thanks for the Ideas, I will defiantly make sure to be extra careful when installing, and try some grease or oil for ease of installation...As for imperfections, they are REALLY amplified by that picture, and when I saw that I immediately went and inspected them. They seem to just be...

http://i634.photobucket.com/albums/uu62/RConlon_67/Talon%20Parts/CIMG0336.jpgPer the pics linked above, would you agree this would be the cause of my oil leak that seems to be coming from behind the harmonic...
Guys,
Need some help.Background:
Profile up to date with modifications. Motor is rebuilt(about 100 miles ago), 2.3L, /w BSEK. I did not have a mechanical oil pressure gauge setup when I first started the car, and I had a pretty serious oil leak develop behind the front case, within...

Offset: +353. My current or future suspension height will be lowered
a) One inch or less
b) One to 1.5 inches
c) 1.5 - 2 inches
d) More than 2 inches.

I am trying to get my fuel trims/Airflow sliders calibrated for partial throttle tuning. I have read the information and I am trying to follow the advice here:
GMAF Calibration for LTFTI have adjusted my sliders up a significant amount over the past few runs as both the LTFT and STFT have...
Mattdev---You were completly right! had the wrong white wire.So I completly took apart the way I had everything hooked up(old hook up explained above but, crimson dragon's comments made me want to re-do everything) and re-did my wiring scheme.-I used the 12V switched from my radio...
Oh Dang! If you look on DSMLInk WIKI.. the 1gECU pinout...ecuwiringinformation [ECMTuning - wiki]There Both White Wires!! I hope thats the answer....that would explain the Knock sensor issue....It still wouldn't explain why the WB is not working...unless I wired that wone wrong...
I could easily re-attache the narrowband I disconnected, but, if you don't mind, could you please explain how this would help with trouble shooting?
Are you saying if I disconnect the LC-1 completly and re-install the NB, see if the knock sensor code goes away? Also, only other things I...
Hey guys, Tried a diferent ground(all at the same point, chassis) and same reults. NB appears to be working, but the WB feature is not. Also I am still Getting the Knock Sensor Circuit error Check engine light. I tried to take it off, sand it and re-install, but that did not help. Any...
Yes, the narrowband seems to be working, but the WBO2 o/p does not, thats where I am confused. Yes I used a combo of the DSMLINK Wiki, LC-1 instruction manual, and DSMlink manual. Its a 90 so there is no rear O2 that I have ever seen. I actually got a new D/P and had a new bung welded...
Hey guys I was just wondering if you could take a look at the attached log. After My LC-1 install, the car is running, REALLY bad. I am getting a check engine light for a bad knock sensor circuit and the car sputters anything over like quarter throttle. Please let me know if you can see...
Thanks, that is a Great explination. From your recomendations, I started the car, allowed it to get up to operating temperature, grounded the ecu through DSMLINK, and adjust the BISS, and the reults are shown in the attached Log.From what you are saying, It appears that since I got the...
When logging ISCPosition, what are the normal values I should see? It sits at zero untill I rev the engine. Also,
IdleSw sits at zero or 1, what should this signal look like. Thanks for any input,
Ryan
ok guys,
tonight I was able to sucessfully get my ISC off the throttle body....let me tell you 1st that that lower bolt was a MAJOR PITA!!! I had to take the throttle body off, and use an 8mm open end wrench slid over top(kinda parallel as opposed to the normal perpendicular) and a set of...
I only wanted to use 6V because it specifically states in the haynes manual that 12V will ruin the motor. I did measure the voltage on the connector and noticed it was 12V and thought this was weird, but if its pulsing, I may not have picked that up on a digital multi- meter.....I am planning...
Ok Quick Q...following ISC testing procedure I found on this site, I check all 4 coils and they are in spec. Now I tried to apply 6VDC to the pins(plus side to 2-5 and negative to 3-6). I used 4 C batteris in series(+ to minus to plus to minus etc...) I measures the voltage @ 6.3V DC...
Ok guys,
I did not get a chance to mess with the temperatures, but I was able to:1)mess with my throttle cable, it seems as if it was a little to tight. I loosened it up a bit and it really helped out my idle. (TPSV now sits @ 0.57 and hits 5) it was not doign this before).2) change...
Thanks alot! I asked why because I am trying to learn, not because I was doubting your answers. I will try your suggestions tonight and post another log soon(if everything goes well, tonight).Any other inputs are welcome as well. Thanks again,
ryan
What are some ways to do this? It was an 80+degrees out when I did this run. I would Assume it would be pretty close to outside temperature, is this a bad assumption? The times when the intake temp is over 100 is when the car is sitting still, not getting any flow. Why do you suggest this...
Cruise/Idle Log.
Note:Also posted in the DSMLINK forums, but this site is always so helpful also.
I followed the instructions on a DSMLINK manual I found on this site. I have check for boost leaks(I found a few but fixed them) and I hold up to my 15PSI Fine. Also have double checked base...
Need some opinions..
I have an EPROM ECU I need repaired(Stock boost guage does not jump to 0 when car is turned on), I have contacted both ECM Tuning and MOTOGUYS for quotes.
Both company's guarentee thier work.MOTOGUYS:
Free Test to see if ECU is even repairable, 199$ fixed fee to...
happened to me a few weeks ago. After a few min of searching I found this and it worked perfectly.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/254501-high-flow-fuel-set-up.html
if you could figure a way to go from the AN fitting to whatever the stock fitting is, I bet it would work...
