My first '99 GSX circa 2002 - Look at that ballin' DVD player. Ah how times have changed...except my taste in cars, subwoofers and 2G enclosure design =)My current '99 GSX - Subs have since been replaced with JL Audio 10W6s.Tom
My wife's '97 GST has been on Sportlines and AGXs for ~80,000 miles and those struts have been awful from day one. The car is soft and "wallowy" over big bumps on the firmest setting. I would never ever recommend them.
Thanks!I'm not a fan of Dual either, but at $17 each I had to give them a shot. My experience with audio has always been that good, clean power and plenty of it coupled with a properly designed enclosure is most of what makes for good bass output. Tuned to the best of my ability they...
Thank you. So who got you into DSMs? It's a sickness I've had for almost 10 years now. I am a part of the 4G63 for life crew at this point I think :) Glad to have you on board! Any pictures of your '99?Thanks! Yeah I have a bit of an obsession with them actually. Spent almost a year...
Hey guys,
Was away from the forums for a few years after selling my original '99 GSX that turned into an '05 EVO. Built the EVO for power after having sold a pretty showy GSX and made 599whp/465wtq on a stupidly slow-spooling T4 35R I was coerced into using before burning out on that driving...
Yep I figured out the problem a little while ago. I'll be having the perch rings that I used on the stock shocks machined out to fit over the Koni shocks. Apparently the shock body on a Koni is just BARELY bigger around. That should fix the problem. Using the perches that came with the Koni...
Just installed my Koni Yellows, 8041 1208 Sports, on the rear and set it back down. The rear of the car was at LEAST 3" higher than it was with stock shocks and coilovers. I had Maxspeed coilovers with stock shocks as my previous setup. I have them set on the lower of the two adjuster...
Really? I know your kit sticks out further than mine, that must be the difference. I only ever have problems getting my front over...the low blitz sides really don't hang down much further than stock...at least not the ones on my car. I contemplated air a while back, but I did some talking to...
And here's a DSMtuners member that did 20s with a 245/35/20 a while back. I remember the thread, and his gallery is on page 241...I've been here too long.http://www.dsmtuners.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=4758Tom
Did you mean navigate treacherous terrain? That's just how I talk, please forgive my good vocabulary ;) You're fine dropping with Pro-Kits and most likely you'll want to lower it more later. I'd invest in the Ground Controls just in case you change your mind, they're only a little bit more...
That's why you do this stuff yourself! No one else will ever care as much about your car as you do and the quality of install will reflect that fact. Get a quality dash kit and redo it yourself.Tom
Yeah it's simple, learn how to drive a lowered car. I could drive a car with 2" of clearance to the pavement on flat ground and successfully navigate most obstacles. It's all about whether or not you're willing to go very slow and at angles up steep inclines and over bumps, or take an...
Is it fiberglass? If so, then your body shop will need to make it fit properly before mounting and painting. If you just flex it in, you will see cracking in the paint before long and probably cracking in the kit also.Tom
If they are altezzas, I've seen it done and thought it looked good on white...I dunno about copper durango pearl. It takes about 8 minutes on a 225 degree preheated oven to get them apart. Be patient separating them because the plastic will bend and then cool in that shape. I would separate...
My parents' driveway is 500ft long and Huck is right by the house. They'd have been welcomed by our two dogs and then my dad long before they got anywhere near him :)Tom
I would have no problem with his spinners, however, he installed a urethane body kit and didn't get it painted. Then instead of taking it to get that done, he bought $4000 rims and tires. Spinners don't get that "oh damn that car is hawt" effect if your body kit is unpainted playa.Tom
To me the number doesn't really matter. My car pulls like a raped ape @ 21psi to redline with 20 degrees of timing on pump gas and I don't need a race build block or have nightmares trying to tune it. I wouldn't ever change turbos and I'm glad this is the one I picked (ported Big T28). I've...
Yeah exactly. For however many millions of people who try to turn econobox Hondas into racecars there are those very few that run fast times. A majority of those also cannot do so on pump gas, street tires, and any day of the week. This is why I didn't buy a Honda, I bought a DSM. Which is...
I don't really care even if they did slow me down a bit, I love them. The only real reason people will ever say anythign negative to you about your 19s is that they can't afford anything other than their ugly stockers (that weigh much less and make your car so much faster....) and they are...
Hopefully he doesn't read the boards :)! I can't wait to have kids, must be a blast to be able to help a baby turn into a person with your love and then teach them all the cool stuff you know (DSMs!). Best of luck with the surprise, tell us how it goes.Tom
Got carried away with the mods.Perfect DSM became allergic to rain.Daily driver now a shitty Hyundai.Buying another to leave box stock.Won't be modding, um, yeah, right. These Damn Shitty Machines are addicting.Tom
Wow, it's no easy task to get our 3300 lb cars to 11.4 @ 118. I can't imagine what kind of work had to go into that heavy ass truck to get it running that fast.Tom
Jokes aside, I bet that TV doesn't work after towing it like that. If it does then you've witnessed some kind of miracle. My Sony projection TV did not like the last move and the slightest jolt getting it in the house f**ked the pincushion circuit. So I've been dealing with a picture that...
Dude you were down here for the BBQ in August! I finished up the project like the day after you guys were here, lol. My car never breaks, it's just down for mods sometimes.Back on topic tho, we're gonna try to get up to Hood the weekend after Thanksgiving for some more XTREME SLEDDIN'...
I was either at school or wheelin' and dealin' all day and didn't even notice the snow we got here. Wouldn't really matter though, my DSM is allergic to foul weather. It prefers to just stay in the dry garage :).Tom
I took mine to a guy that does custom polishing for Porsche owners mostly and spent $800 getting them completely polished and insides color matched to my car. If it's any less, don't expect it to be perfect.Tom
I won't buy buying another car unless it's a Skyline GTR. Nothing better than turbocharged and AWD in my book and a Skyline is just a GSX on steroids. Bigger displacement, more power potential, and with a motor that isn't so damned fragile. There's a '97 (R33) here locally hit on the front...
You know, of all the hours of advice I've gotten from friends both male and female regarding my current chica situation, those few sentences make me feel better than all the other encouragement combined. Therapist Defiant always on the job!Tom
