The platform isn't dead, it is getting harder to find some parts though. And some of the aftermarket part producers have moved on to the R35 platform as all the e-bay parts for DSM's have cut into their profits to much to make it worth while.
Went and had some fun with the SCCA Jax Solo group here in FL this morning. I need to buy some tires better than my Hankook Ventus V2s for future events.
I need to get a 6-bolt block that I can use with some .020 over sized pistons that I already own. Preferably a turbo block so I still have oil squirters. Let me know what you have.
A few of you guys know me since I have only been out of CA for a few years and before that I was up in the LA area. I just got my orders and I will be stationed at Pt. Loma for the next 3 years or so.I super happy to be heading back towards home and back to a place with a good DSM scene.
So my turbo suddenly died and this is why.Is it safe to get this machined down and re-use this housing?Well David from Bullseye Power recommends getting it repaired over sending me a new one so it is at a local machine shop now. We will see how this repair goes.
I think my ecu may be bad so I borrowed another one to test but it isn't socketed to put my ecmlink in. I ordered a socket for it but if someone local has a set of stock injectors I could borrow quicker than that it would be appreciated. My name is Wes and my cell number is 951-323-2757.
MoTeC > M84 *NEW* > OverviewThis isn't quite for me and my power goals since my ECMlink V3 does all I need and more but I saw an add for this in the new issue of SportsCar and thought it looked cool for people that are already considering AEM.I think the coolest feature I've seen so far...
I know there is the bid Carolina meet coming up next month and I am hoping to make it to it but I would also like to see if some of the guys local to here would like to just meet up and B.S. for a bit.I don't know the area real well since I have only been here for two weeks so I don't know...
I'm driving across country to my new home in SC, my drivers side front axle on my 99 gsx just ripped open and the grease caught fire. If any one has an axle and maybe even the shaft from the the trans with carrier bearing please give me a call at 951-323-2757.I'm on a serious time crunch to...
So I have to report to Navy Nuclear Power School Feb. 16th. It is located on the Naval Weapons Station, does anybody on this site have insight into good neighborhoods to look for a place in.I'm moving with my wife and daughter so I don't want to end up living in a crappy part of town where...
I didn't want to clutter up 99gst_racer's thread about his really nice setup so i made this one to show another way to increase ventilation size.Currently I have my system set up to exhaust scavenge in the first bend of my down pipe which is 2.5"( This did not work so it goes back into the...
I have read all the threads and seen where everyone says this is a great cheap turbo and it is but in total I spent a bit more than I anticipated and here is a rundown of my total costs. Hope this helps someone out.1. Used HX35 = $200 (Bought from another DSMer, in the wrecking yards here...
Well as you can see form my earlier entries I was in turbo hell from that PTE-5031E. Here is a quick rundown of what happened.
1. Brand new turbo put on car with new engine for break in. It made great power and felt strong until huge oil clouds started following me. Took it apart and it...
This thread is meant as a warning to all my fellow DSM enthusiasts out there. Hopefully you can learn from my mistake and save yourself some headaches and money.I wanted to check the oil pressure my engine was making at higher RPMs so I connected an electronic sending unit to my oil filter...
So my PTE-5031E died after about 1000 miles, I suspect high oil pressure as I have no balance shafts and ran it without a restrictor. I got it re-built locally by Performance Techniques who re-placed the entire center section and wheels with genuine Garrett parts and then ran it with a...
I will be taking my GSX out to the desert next weekend to compete in the first ever Mojave Mile. I will be in the Grand Touring class which has a 165 MPH speed limit. I have no idea how fast my car will go in a standing mile but for this year 165 will be it even if the car has more in it...
I spent some time at RRE last night on the Dyno and Sam dialed in a dual map tune for 91 octane and e85.The 91 numbers were far from impressive as it seams that the 2.3 is not a fan of very much timing advance. On crap Ca pump 91 we got 288awhp and 320ish torque at 18psi.The e85 tune made...
I am just starting tuning the car and I am still chasing down some oil leaks. I will post up some pictures of everything done soon. Pretty much after I have time to wash the car. The car feels strong but it is in need of much tuning time as my AFR looks like a wave going up the RPM range and...
The BMW club of Southern California is throwing an auto-X event this Sunday. Non-beemers are welcome, we sign up for X class and compete against all other non-beemers that are there. As of now the x class is my GSX, a couple Mustangs, a couple GTIs, and a Porsche 993.Here is the info I got...

So my parents moved and I had to take all of my old stuff out of their garage. I have been selling most of the stuff but I can't list these yet because I don't even remember what they are called. Do any of you guys remember what these were?
SpeedTrialUSA Official SiteThere are still spaces available so come on out and play with your cars. I know you guys want to see what that DSM does on an actual race course.I'm heading up for Sat. only with my GSX.
I searched and found several threads on lowering the stock seats and modifying the steering column mounting and I may do some of those things.I'm 6' even and I weigh 240lbs with a 38" waist. I want to get a racing seat some time in the near future, as the stock one offers poor side support...
I ran a search and didn't find anything about this so here it goes.I know a lot of us have the Tokico Illumina shocks on our cars and I was wondering what do you guys have the adjustments set at for different types of driving. And if anyone has insight into my exact setup which is Eibach...
I have my car consistantly running low 13's and I hope 12's will happen at my next outing in December. On my 13.2 pass I shifted at 7000 rpm and left it in third crossing the finish line bouncing off the 7500rpm rev. limiter. I made a run shifting at 6000rpm and finishing in fourth and mt E.T...
I just got the ZR-2 Multi Gauge as an addition to my Zt-2 Wideband setup. I think the gauge is much nicer than the big box display I had previously.Positives.....
The gauge is smaller than the display.
It is very thin and can be mounted almost anywhere.
Easy to read most of the time.
Can...
I ran a search and couldn't find a thread with a problem quite like this.My car idles great and runs fine if I give it gas and let the turbo spool. My problem is that when I'm just cruising down the street at around 3,000 RPMs applying part throttle my car will stumble and surge. It...
I have a 99 GSX with a MHI Big 16G, EVOIII exhaust manifold and O2 housing, RRE downpipe, high flow cat, Espelier exhaust, 1G BOV, RRE Upper IC pipe, zeitronix wideband, and dsmlink.I am overwhelming my stock side-mount especially in the SO. Cal summer heat. I am working on a budget so as...
