JB weld would be a waste of time. It doesn't just crack, it's a stress crack for a reason. There's a bearing that seats near that on the other side if that's where I think it is on the transmission.Car is looking like a good project though. EVO 3 is one of my cars to own before I die. :thumb:
Let me know what becomes of this, if you would. In my opinion, Biltsein makes some of the best shocks in the world, literally racing shocks for the street. The Touring series might be decent for a stock vehicle but I like to take mine to extremes when I drive sometimes....
To the OP, have you ever been on a DSM message board for attention starved men? lolActually, any kind of message board. Bottom line is, if you're out making shit happen, you aren't on the computer planning out your next post.....
Thanks, too bad I couldn't hang on to it.When I did the clutch for the 2nd time, I decided to tuck/hide wires and paint the engine bay. I was lucky, as a local parts store was able to mix the color and then compress it into a spray can.The leather seats are still in use in my red 91...
Thought I'd post another update for anyone still wondering about these. Brakes are still working great, zero problems with them. I'm pretty happy with the Performance Friction pads as well. Haven't gotten any fade yet, and zero run-out on the rotors. I'm still waiting for funds and time to make...
Looks very good, Vassil. I love those control arms too, as they appear to be fully adjustable like the custom rear control arms are.Personally, I would like to see mounts to accept an electrically assisted rack like on an MR2 or something of the like.
That's weird. I didn't have a spacer on my 1g like that. I bought the Torque Solutions kit on ebay and it went on without a problem. Basically the same thing STM sells.
Just thought I'd post an update. After one autox and a bunch of highway driving over the weekend, I can say they work fantastic. The only thing I need to do is upgrade the rear brakes to try and even out the brake bias. (I kept locking the fronts up at the autox.)
I've been daily driving my Talon with wheel spacers that don't allow the rims to "sit" on the hub rings without a single problem. The stock wheels use lug nuts that center the rims. I'm not arguing that this isn't smart, I know this. It works for me though.I run 17 in Stealth tt wheels with...
You could be the first for the Vette brakes. There really is nothing needed once you mod the caliper bracket and space the rotor out, the C5 calipers will fit just like the Camaro ones. The biggest differences between the two is one says Corvette on them and has more cooling fins and has...
They actually end up being about the same over-all size when you look at them from that angle. However, I was kind of struggling to hold up the stock caliper and bracket in that pic whereas with the SS brakes, I could lift those all day.Car drives fine, just need to bed the pads in so they...
Got everything bolted on without the spacer behind the rotor. I have washers in the pics to mock it all up:This shows what I've had to modify on the bracket:
Just finishing up painting the calipers I got from 92gsxman (89mirageman). After a struggle with a couple slider pins, I'm happy to say the brackets and calipers are in good shape. As you can see, I still need to remove the material off the brackets:I get the pleasure of working...
Yeah, I saw your thread just this morning. Im actually going to go that route and pick those up off you but I need a couple days to put money in my account. I'll send you a pm on gvr4.
I actually get the parts at cost through work. Prices break down like this:Rotors: $17 each
Calipers: $40+$50 core charge
Caliper Brackets: $18 each
4 bolts: $4I come up with $254. You could save a lot on calipers if you can find a junk 98-02 f-body. Of course though, this is all rounded up...
You can see where the bolts go into the caliper bracket, thats where the material needs to come off. Basically, taking enough down so that whole side is flat. Sorry, I don't have Photoshop anymore so I can't highlight it.
If you feel all that matters is brake torque, then I can't help you. I can lock up the stock brakes no problem so from that view, why ever upgrade?I can get the caliper for about 80 through work, which includes a 50 dollar core charge and my discount. The bracket was 15, and the rotors are...
Thanks for that bit of info. They're noticeably bigger when looking at them, but the Camaro's are decently lighter. Another tid-bit is with these caliper brackets, C5 vette calipers are a bolt on from what I've been reading.
Yea, it's for the red POS. No plans on going, I work every weekend and only get a weekend off to autox once in a while. Only "event" I might go to is rockfalls once or to the All Mitsu Cookout.I'll take better pics to try and explain what needs to be done where to make these work once I...
The bolts that hold the caliper bracket to the knuckle are different thread pitch from our stock brakes, so new ones will be needed. That's what I was meaning. The spacer will be made soon from my old set of rotors. It'll fit between the rotor and the hub. After I get the moneys for the...
From a 2000 to 02? Camaro:Calipers
Mounting bracketsFrom a z32 300zx:RotorsYou'll need 4 bolts for the brackets and a spacer for the rotor. I still have more to figure out.
Perhaps I drive my car a bit hard then, but my rotors I got from Oreilly's are pretty warped. They have meat on them, but I'm looking to upgrade the over-all package as well. I want the car to actually slow down from 130 instead of coasting...lolThe 300zx rotor is really close to the same...
I can't say for sure because I have to cut my old rotors apart to have the spacer. (very very small budget for me). Basically, the thickness of the mounting flange on our stock rotors, guessing about 4mm. Then I'll have to take about 4mm off the caliper bracket so everything lines up how it...
I've been less than thrilled with how long rotors last on the dual piston setup on our cars. Plainly put, there's not enough material on the rotor to keep from warping. I work at Oreilly's, so needless to say I've been trying out different setups but by chance, I ordered in some calipers and...
I guess in my opinion that's getting pretty nit-picky. What does that muffler on the right cost you on a turbo car with a 3 in. exhaust? Maybe 1-5 hp max compared to having no muffler at all?
I have a 3 inch o2 housing-back with a single cherry bomb glass pack in the middle. Been like this for about a year and love the sound. That does not make any sense. A glass pack is straight through. How can a straight through muffler be "intrusive and disruptive"?
