Thanks, that's good news. Mr. Boxx you got better fuel mileage with cams, thats really awesome. If I get better mileage with the 264s, I'll be a very, very happy camper. I have a set of 264/264s and a set of 264/272s, which ones would you put in?
OK, I did have a small boost leak and my throddle cable was too tight. I fixed both problems but the high idle did not change. It must be the O2 sensor.
Well, I replaced the throddle body with a rebuilt unit with new sensors. The problem is still there. I checked the O2 sensor and it seems OK. What else can I check?
When the idle is set right for start up it then goes to 2000 after it warms up. When I reset it for normal operating temp and then start it the next day it doesn't want to idle unless I hold down the thottle a little. What should I check or replace first? Thanks, Brent W.
The best mpg for my car was 24. E85 is an hour away but AV gas is available in town. I agree that the ever so worthless dollar is most of the problem however it also seems that the more oil producing countrys the US controls the higher the price of fuel goes.
Has anyone tried both the 264/264 and the 264/272 on the same engine? On the AMS Performance web page they say that the 264/264 combo had better spool and off boost power than the 264/272s. Their dyno graphs however show the opposite. Can anyone verify this?
I like to try new things, in search of improvement. There are some things I don't care for in the GM MAF set up. A good thing a about the 3g MAS is that you can not set it wrong. If the spool-up suffered to much I would go back to the GM MAF in blow through.
Accoring to the the graphs I've seen, the 264/272s make about 60-65hp more at 4500 rpm than stock cams. Same car for all tests with a 16g. Around 6000 rpm it levels off but is still 10-15hp more than stock cams. All the cams tested fell off after about 6000rpm.
Don't have the logger cable hooked up near the fuse box or it will not let you see the correct timming. If the logger cable is connected, your timming mark will not be steady when you look at it with the timming light. A manual from Napa will show you the rest. Be carefull of the wires to your...
A good person told me about a 3g converion plug adapter for the 2g MAS. I would like to convert from a MAF-T to the 3g MAS. Does any one know where to get this MAS adapter? Thanks,Brent W.
I have wanted a downfirering turbo to eliminate the j-pipe and make some room between the tubo and the fans. If the M-trim will spool almost like a 16g then thats what I need. The only thing better would be a ball bearing version.
What can anyone tell me about the Slowboy M-trim turbo? It looks good for what I want a turbo to do. Does anybody know much about this size turbo? $599.00 seems cheap. What do think?
I'm thinking of doing the same thing exept keep the DSMchip. The MAF-t may be to tricky for me but mine is a blow through which seems to help spool up.
I must be missing something. Do you have a DSMchip to compensate for your injector size. Why are you setting the MAF-T for 450s if you actually have 680s?
I had better luck with mostly water, but at that time I had no wide band AFR meter to monitor. I took it out during my last overhaul and have not put it back on yet.
I have a less aggressive timing chip that Jeff gave me along with the more aggressive one that I'm currently running. It's just that I really liked the low end responce this chip has. I will give the other chip a try it to see if it helps. Thanks,
Brent W.
Thanks, that might be some of it but I also have too run 10:1 AFR most of the time when past 10-15 psi of boost to control knock. I'm also running 100 octane Av gas, so it seems like knock should be low no matter what I do. This however is not always the case.
Can someone help with this knocking problem that only occurs when I go too full thoddle very quickly. If I ease into the throddle slowly, I can have full boost without any knock. Has anyone else had this type of problem before? Thanks,Brent W.
The classifides on this web site is where I bought my last one. It already had the logger software installed and it works very well. A wideband O2 sensor is also very helpfull with tunning and engine protection. For help in understanding any of the logger parameters I go to the digitaltunning...
Thanks for your answers. I just changed my fpr to a Aeromotive unit and it still goes down to 0 psi within 10 minutes. I have ordered a new Wallbro 255 and just received new
FIC 750s. Once they are in I'll tell you if it helped.Brent W.
Compression in the 30 to 50psi range is more than weird, it's real bad. A tea spoon of oil in one of the spark plug holes will tell you if it's your rings that got fried during the overheat. If the compression doesn't go up 100psi or more, then your head or the head gasket has been damaged. Also...
Yes, I pulled the fuse and had the throttle open. I've done the test many times and it seems low for 9:1 pistons to me also. I think it should be closer to 200psi like it was when I first started the newly rebuilt engine. Luckily, the car is still very fast. It still would be nice
to have...
What are some of your compression tests showing you? I have 9:1 pistons with compression
test showing 162, 162, 162, 165. The engine has just over 3000miles on it. When it was first put together and only had 5 or 10 miles on it, it had between 185 and 195psi compression. These test were all...
After all your work you should drive the car and see what happens. You need to break in the
motor by driving. Tell us if this keeps up or if anything else changes.
So the engine dose not run long enough to warm up? Those compression readings are very strange, cold or hot. Sorry you're having so much trouble but it seems like a rod bearing to me also. At the same time, if there is no metal in the oil or the filter then I don't see how that could be the...
It misfired more than once in a row many times, but never turned on the check engine light.
I fixed the problem with different spark plugs. I never had a defective NGK after only 1000 miles until now. It seems strange that a bad plug didn't set off an error code. I even switched
out the...
It was the spark plugs. NGKs with less than 3000 miles on them. One is defective. Since I've changed plugs it dosen't mis at all. Thanks 16gpoweredgsx.
