I recently purchased a set of GSC S2 cams from a private seller. I'm just trying to make sure that I actually got what paid for. There aren't any markings on the cams to tell me theyre S2's or even GSC's for that matter. What ways does GSC use to mark their cams to tell them apart?
i just heard about that intake manifold yesterday for the first time and i come on here and somebody is actually running one. interested to see some results from it.on a side note, that polish job on the intake manifold isnt that great. if you want a good shine out of it, shoot me a PM. ill...
Thanks for the compliments fellas. The car is going to be a street/strip car. It's just a toy. We got the exhaust finished and all welded up. Now I just have to find time to install everything. Here's a teaser :p
Thanks again guys! The paint is the same as I used on the valve cover. I guess we'll see what happens. Even if it happens to come back off, I can always send then to my buddy's for powder coating. I'm not too worried about it as I've used the same brand of paint on other projects in an engine...
My wastegates came. Packaged real nice and look like great quality pieces. I just couldn't put something so dull in my engine bay. They came looking like this..So I took them apart, cleaned them, prepped and painted them. Here's the finished product..Mounted to the manifold, then on...
Thanks for.the compliments guys. It keeps me going on projects like this. The valve cover I bead blasted, cleaned it, 2 coats of primer, cleaned it with wax and grease remover, laid down 2 coats of base and 2 coats of clear. Ill start doing them for people if I can get enough people interested.
Well I know it isn't a 40r but i have a 35r mounted on a twin scroll manifold from Punishment Racing. No fitment issues at all. It was almost meant to be.
I ordered one of Punishment Racing's T3 twin scroll manifolds a couple months ago. I have a 35r strapped to it and it fits perfectly in my engine bay. No water pipe or radiator clearance issues. The quality of the piece is amazing. I'm very happy with the manifold and fitment but for $985 what...
Thanks a lot man I appreciate it. Today I took off the driver side motor mount and power steering bracket to hack them up, bead blast, and paint them. they turned out real nice and I'll be putting it back together tomorrow. I'll get a pic of it all together with the valve cover installed and...
I pick up this 5 spd 92 AWD about 2 weeks ago. It's in pretty good shape for being almost 20 years old now. Interior is mint. Anyway, it has a mild 16g setup with some fuel and a front mount with DSM link. It definitely runs pretty good for a street setup but you can never have enough power...
Wow I can't believe people are still attempting this. ATTENTION DSMers!! Just buy a damn set of regrinds. The gains that you get from swapping stock cams to Evolution cams is worthless. You can hardly tell the difference. Spend the time you would trying to get them to work at your job to make...
i work for a hydraulic fracturing company. i work 19-21 hour shifts and have to wear a flame retardant body suit all day. where we were working last week it was 114. if the check wasnt huge, i wouldnt do it
Some of these replies remind me of the time a bunch of people got trashed at my house and my one buddy desides to play a joke on another random guy. He took a condom, mixed flour and water and put it in the condom. Then put the condom in this guys a$$ crack when he passed out and then put a...
I'm the guy that tried it. Actually, I did finish it but it's not worth the effort. I was 17 years old and everybody was telling me that it can't be done. To me that was just motivation to keep going with the little project. I did all the measuring and fitting in my bedroom by myself. The Evo 8...
+1 for the juice..stay away its nothing but trouble..im only 19 so i have a few years to improve..what are you guys weighing in at? im 6'2" and weighed in at 217 this morning
might be the most awkward post ive ever seen on the site. this guys bustin a grumpy and asking about an intercooler. i think thats a new, "You might be a DSMer if..."
My 97 awd won't start. When I turn the key it just clicks. I've cleaned all the connections to battery and starter. I've replaced the starter. I wired the starter solenoid to delete it. I've tried a different battery with a jump pack on it and still nothing. I also just pulled the ECU out and...
I saw in the results thread, a guy with a built 2.0 had a 17 cm^2 divided T4 housing and he saw 30 psi, full boost, by 4200. Is this accurate or a typo because that spool seems pretty damned fast for a T4 housing. I have this housing on my HX40 and was going to go with a .70 A/R but if this...
Thanks for the compliments. Yea I know what you man bud. I actually put a piece of masking tape over the tag just so it didn't get ruined in the bead blaster. It might not be the prettiest tag, but I can't stand the look of the compressor cover without the tag.
Well guys I've been following these Holset threads for a while now and finally decided to pick up an HX40. I put a bid on one on ebay and won it for $250 shipped. I didn't think it was too bad of a deal. It looked rough but I know what these turbos are capable of and how much abuse they can...
I just want to confirm the results of my ISC motor test with someone who has done the motor test on the ISC. Resistance was good on the coils so I did the motor test with the 6 volts applied. I am just getting a simple tick of the motor. Should I be getting a bigger or different result if the...
whe3ls, please dont post information not knowing the truth about the subject. the engine is turned 180* yes, but the motor still spins the same direction when running. evo VIII cams will work in a DSM, trust me i got them to work after a few tries. i did a pretty big write-up on the subject...
i've personally changed a water pump on a friends 3kgt. it is a pain in the a$$, but its not as hard as most would think. i wouldnt buy a 3kgt and expect to do all the work on your own if you dont have much experience with mitsubishi in general. i think a 4g63 is a great platform to start out...
glad to hear everything turned out for you. i had a problem with a local machinist but it wasnt as bad as yours. i did switch machinists now and everything has been cool since. i just looked up the torque specs in my "bible" and it says 22-25 ft/lbs. i wish you the best of luck with the rest of...
how "capable" is the internal wastegate on the HX35? does it need ported or should i just get a new housing? i did plan on getting a bolt-on housing but id like to stay T3 for the potential of the turbo. if i can ill just use the stock housing and wastegate.
i bought a book about a month ago and it has all of the up to date Holset compressor maps in it. the book says Holset hasn't released the maps to anybody else but the writer of the book. if anybody is interested i can scan and post them.
thats awesome man, thanks for the info on the pump. right now im just looking to break the record for the HX35 in the BEP housing. the current record is at 494 awhp and im hoping with the setup im putting together i will break 525 awhp. id like to see a low 11 MAYBE a high 10 if possible. i wish...

Well, I figured since the Auto X guys have their own winter plans thread the guys at the strip should have one too. I plan on putting in a built 2.0 I just picked up and breaking the HP record with the BEP housing and HX35. What about you?
