I agree with this guy. Seriously....1.5MPG gain by just plugs? I can get 5mpg just from keeping my foot out of it. There are WAY too many variables to even consider that valid.Respect your forum eldersAs far as OP: Honestly, you won't see much. You'll hear a bunch of noise from the...
Everyone is going to have their own opinion about what does and doesn't look good. So this thread is just going to be a giant flame war. That being said...I for one, think the above looks like ass.
If you aren't going for crazy power, it is a good unit. It's a tube and fin design which is a good thing for the 2G platform. Much like the RX7 cars, there is only ONE major opening at the front of the car and this needs to cool both charge temps and water temps. A DSM can't support a V-mount...
Yup. More so dry out then harden up though. Mine did that to me over a season with the car sitting. Swapped out to viton seals and it is still running smoke free with the new owner.
It's the same exact thing as the Megan. Both are B&M knockoffs. And both will have a Pivot shoulder that will snap over time due to it being a chrome plated piece. It will also add a bit more stress to the pivot pin which is known to snap on any shifter. And frankly, is a PITA to get it welded...
I wouldn't touch the Megan ones. I had one and I broke it downshifting...From what I have heard, that Dogbox shifter is supposed to be the best available right now. But I personally haven't seen one.Really? Because you should. I did that the first week of owning a B&M model. Luckily, I also...
That's strange that you have both as a problem. But at least the push fan is helping.Question for you: Do you have any space between the bumper and the FMIC where the air can escape? That would cause the freeway issues too.
If fine when not moving, it means your fans are doing their job properly. If not fine while moving, it means your radiator isn't getting enough air through it because it is being blocked by your AC condenser and FMIC.Try running a little bit higher of a water:coolant ratio. And maybe some...
What Wes Said.I later put on a heat sheild to cover the manifold. The only thing that caught me out one night was the blue for the filter and the SS line that had a red end on it on my drain line.I would have went with a slightly more stealth exhaust though. Which, the new owner has...
I believe you because this happens with ALL wastegates. I've only heard of the Synapse gate not doing this.OP: Fix spool problem first. Then add parts to car.
No, if you took the adjustable ones off then they shouldn't be an issue with cams at all now. The FP2's are actually pretty close to dialed in right out of the box from what I remember.By chance, do you know the PSI rating on the spring you have in the wastegate? (What PSI was being run...
Just a question here. Why do you say that you should be spooling 1k rpms earlier? From previous experience where you were spooling there? From your mod list, a lot of them slow down spool. From the "large" FMIC with the 3" UICP to the mustang TB that leads into your JMF manifold that is...
This. If you are indeed turning the right way, it sounds like there is some pressure loss somewhere. I used to adjust mine the same way Jack says and it always worked perfectly. How did you bleed the slave?
Just saw a CLEAN 2gb black Talon on La Brea going into West Hollywood. Had a N1 style exhaust and was in PERFECT condition. I didn't think those existed in LA anymore haha. Thumbs up for you man! :thumb:.And Andy, change your damn sig!! :D
All I gotta say is: CFDF. Quite possibly the best DD clutch ever made for a DSM. I miss my CFDF clutch that was in my GSX. The only downside is that they don't like launching in an AWD. But since you are FWD, no problems what so ever. And trust me when I say it is a VERY light clutch pedal. I've...
Chicks used to like the DSM in HS. Thought it was "cute"....Now I go for the smarter ones in the Evo. More seats = more ass.....literally...their ass goes in the seats :D
That using a heavier weight motor oil as a band-aid for other issues is actually hurting the motor more then it is helping. You said it yourself, it's a high mileage motor. Swapping in new valve seals is the right thing to do in that case, not a heavier oil weight.Lucas has a niche market...
The only flaw with this is that is can't really be applie today. Oil standards have changed and the additives that they are putting in them have advanced drastically.I was running a 5w-40 in my DSM year round. Now it doesn't get that cold over here, but I never saw a problem. It started up...
Everyone will say their own clutch setup is the best there is so take everything with a grain of salt. For all you know, they could be some crazy buff dude where a 2600 feels like pushing on a pillow. The only thing I will say, is that you will want to go for an unsprung clutch disc. It will...
The FP68HTA is rated at a flow of 47lbs/min. A standard E3 16g is rated at what, 43lbs/min? It's not only that, it's also able to hold higher pressure ratios longer into the rev band.I also just thought of something. Since it is a built 2.0 engine, you'll want something with some better...
So you are either viewing logs or finding parts to fix the car. No WONDER your GF hates the car :tease:. Just messing with you Corey!!!This is on my laptop. I had it on my logging laptop which is an HP Mini running OSX. Liked it so much I slapped it on my MacBook Air. My other desktop and...
FP 68HTA is what I'd slap on a daily. It is one hell of a little guy. Almost 30R power out of a stock frame DSM turbo. A buddy of mine from SD has one and it is a beast. But honestly, for DD duties stick with the standard E3 16g. and tune it for MPG. You got the Evo for fun time :cool:Damn...
While all of that 80's race tech is completely doable, try fitting it inside of a DSM engine bay and see where that gets you.You would need at a MINIMUM a 44MM on a moderate size turbo to have proper sized wastegate runners. The hard part is making clearance for the 2 gate runners to form...
What most people don't realize is that the numbers on the can doesn't mean it's actual viscosity. The numbers on the can mean "grade". An engine is designed to run with an oil viscosity of 10 at approximately an oil temperature of 212 degrees Fahrenheit. The thing is though, is that viscosity is...
A lot of you guys are wrong. It doesn't matter if you live in Arizona or the North Pole, you should be using a zero weight with whatever your engine likes to run for the second weight. Such as a 0W-30 or a 0W-20. Everyone says a zero weight cold rating it too low but it actually makes your...
I have an idea as far as mounting it goes. From the looks of it, you will need it to be supported from both sides (Radiator and hood) to keep it from moving around under high air flow. A simple stop bar on the hood could create a stable enough piece to keep the aluminum from moving back into the...
Exactly what I was trying to get at. Despite being a TS design, the overall inner volume is still greater then our bolt on offerings which yield better exhaust flow and less backpressure. All the while still offering fast spool up times from the separation of the cylinder exhaust pulses.
I would email FP about that seeing as they work with both turbos. But if that's what you truly want to do, you might as well get the hta68. Which is what I think they'd sat to you too.
15g it may be, but it can still flow 40+lbs/min without wheel upgrades. That combined with the TS housing makes for a pretty nifty package. The only thing we are missing is MIVEC for better spoolup and top end.
I don't remember if the turbine blades are made differenlty then the previous Evo 4-9 turbos, I'll have to look into that a bit. But in terms of spool up, most of that is due to the twin scroll turbine housing splittting up the exhaust pulses.Switching to a whole Evo X turbo is a fantastic...
While I do agree that Dejon is a good company to buy fabricated parts from, I still say that you need to give it another once over to make sure everything is okay with it. IDK if it was just mine but I had to do some pretty serious deburring from the welds (and I only had the recuirculation...
You can, just without a lot of boost. Which doesn't make sense in terms of power, but does in terms of efficiency. Also, when tuning on E85 the most you should go is 12.5:1. Anything more then that it can handle but with the knock resistance of E85 you should be worrying about cylinder temps...
I agree with this. The clutch issue should have been dealt with before even considering getting it on a dyno. Most tuners would have flat out said no to that. So it is also GT fault for not listening to you. ESPECIALLY about the 30 second start up timing advance. I know that really helps with...
David, all the HP netbooks run the intel Atom processor. What I found strange is that when I used to check the information on it, it would show it as a dual core in real time CPU %.But if you get one with the SSD, I HIGHLY reccomend getting an upgrade for it. The OEM ones have horrible read...
I'm perfectly happy with my HP Mini 10". It has just enough res for DSMLink and I'm sure it would be the same with ECUFlash. And those Atom processors are reasonable quick too. I would just swap out the hard drive to a faster SSD (if it came with A SSD or even a HDD).
Very true. I actually agree whole heartedly. I love my DSM don't get me wrong. But sometimes things change. And it is in my personal opinion that the Evo X is a perfect juggling act.I also forgot to mention that I'm also 21. Not some old fart =P haha
It was actually 210hp :pBut on a serious note, why is this thread even existent? If you feel your car is slow you need to:
-Actually spend money on it to make it faster
-Fix whatever you have wrong with it
-Buy a different car if you think it'll be faster for less
-DEAL with it...I...
