I need to smog my 98 gst. If you know anyone who can help a fellow DSMer make this happen, please PM me. I'm in the East Bay Area but, I'm willing to travel nearly anywhere. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions on my setup and I'll happily answer them. Thanks yall.
I saw 3 this weekend. My buddy Dave came by Vic Hubbard's with his Purple 2gb GSX on black rims, too many mods to list. One of the cleanest ones around these parts. Another White 2gb GSX w/ exhaust came in later on. Nice guy but, I'm terrible with names. On the way home driving on Hesperian...
You're going to need some supporting fuel mods and some sort of engine management before you install a larger turbo if you're aiming for 450-500whp.edit: Take a look under the tech section at the upgrade path for 2g dsms. It will answer a ton of your questions (that is if you don't mind reading).
I use 20w-50 cheapo for break-in. I switched to Mobil 1 after 5k. Been on that since. I'm not a fan of Royal Purple. I got it free from my work once. It had my silver DSM smoking bad. Switched back to Mobil and problem solved. Not to say others haven't had great results with RP, it's just my DSM...
I saw 2 today. On Mission Blvd in Hayward near Moreau Catholic. Silver 2gb GST, lowered, exhaust. Middle-aged guy driving it. Then on Hesperian near Kaiser Hospital. Red 2ga, lowered, exhaust.
The only one I know of is Pacesetter. As far as i know, they're the only one with a C.A.R.B. EO# on it. The quality isn't very good though(I'm telling you this from personal experience). You'd be better off with your stock manifold or an Evo 3 manifold.
You'd be better off spending the extra cash and going with a 16g as opposed to getting a rebuild done. I've been using my Evo 3 16g turbo for nearly 4 years now DAILY. It cost me $575 with the install kit. I even passed smog with it.
True words. Sometimes, as a business, you have to eat some warranties to please your customers (even if you can deny the warranty). It helps build loyalty. They'll see you bending over backwards to help them and they will be back based on the way they were treated.Back on topic, I own a...
White 2gb spyder, lowered, fmic, exhaust. There was some writing on the top of the windshield I couldn't make it out though. He was driving on the opposite side of Harder Rd. in Hayward this morning.
I think the OP's point was that he wants an emission-legal turbo kit for a 4g63 N/A motor. I've never heard of or seen one but, I'm by no means an expert on the subject of N/A turbo kits.
I would get boost/vac, oil pressure, wideband. You can find decent boost and oil gauges for $45-$85 from Autometer. The cheapest wideband o2 I found was the one from Prosport. The colors and styles are up to you.
True words. Make sure you take a good hard look at the car. Inside and out. You could get lucky and end up with a bargain. Or, you could end up like me cleaning up the previous owners mistakes. I mean c'mon...... duct tape instead of silicone couplers?:ohdamn:
I was originally going to go with the Tokico setup. I read a bunch of good reviews on them. I ended up getting a killer deal on Koni Reds/Tein Spring combo so i went that way instead.
So I got in my car last night, went to start it. FAILED. Tried again. FAILED. Tried once more, it started and sounded like a Subaru. This misfire is killing me. Sorry I couldn't make it out last night. I'm glad to hear there was a great turnout. Post them pics fellas.
I had the same thing happen to me. Turned out to be one of the fingers on my clutch fork broke off. Unfortunately I found this out after I replaced the master and slave. On topic, I'm 98% sure I'll be there. just depends on wether or not my DSM feels up to it. I guess we'll see.
The 17th I'll more than likely be having my birthday BBQ. I say the 10th. The third is Cinco de Mayo weekend. I don't drive very much that weekend because cops are dicks to bald Mexicans during the festivities. Either way let me know.
