WTB Mint 2g GSX roller or trade mint 2000 civic ex coupe 130k manual for complete car

I've got a good response from the community but have yet to find "the one". There have been a couple sub par complete cars on craigslist however that I'm considering trading my daily driver for simply because of the money I'd be saving in included forged internals, front mount etc... that would...

WTB Mint 2g GSX roller or trade mint 2000 civic ex coupe 130k manual for complete car

After selling my race car 2 years ago I've fallen out of the community and have since stopped freelancing. I'm getting the bug again and want to start getting involved... caveat, I no longer have a 10 second DSM to advertise myself with. It's time to build another one. I'm looking for a MINT...

What long block to chose for 500whp

If you're looking to build a longevity motor that can still handle a beating stick with a 2.0 and go with pistons that don't require much extra clearance beyond stock for thermal expansion. Any piston expands with heat however the metallurgy of some forged pistons requires more piston to wall...

Auto intermittently stalls shifting from P to D. Much like dumping a clutch.

First off this is not a boost leak issue, IAC issue or any of the obvious stall checks. The car runs perfect in park and neutral, as well as at cruise. The problem is sporadic, usually when the trans is cold in the morning. When shifting from park to drive or reverse the car will shutter like...

2G 2G auto trans acts like its locked up.

If this problem has came to a resolution would you mind sharing what went into fixing it? Was the pump the problem after all or was something else causing the low pressure? I just bought a flipper exhibiting the same symptoms. How much were repair costs?

Renton/Kent and Surrounding Area Machine Shops

Every shop is going to have it's good and bad reviews. During the 2 years I worked for Andre I came to find that most of the time peoples frustrations were manifested out of their own false ideas regarding the way something should have turned out or what the right way to do something is, or...

Renton/Kent and Surrounding Area Machine Shops

Pina Motorsports, like every other small performance shop, does not have their own machine shop. It costs too much money and takes too much time to purchase/ use machine equipment when you're only running a 1-2 man show. They, like almost every other shop, send motors out for machining. Out of...

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any machine shops in the area with a 4G63 torque plate that ISN'T Highlands East Machine in Renton. I'm looking to expand my options and don't feel like calling every shop in the book until I find one with a torque plate. I'm willing to drive as far North as...

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

What number do you guys use to get ahold of them? I've been dialing 1-800-321-1364. I almost feel like after the first call I made they see me on caller ID and say hell no I'm not answering that. (Joking). I might try and get back ahold of them one more time and see if they can't put a...

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

I did forget to mention that my pistons are stroker pistons. That is a critical point as the design is different. Were the rest of you running 2.0 or 2.3 pistons?
  15. lccynmbr13

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

That would be awsome. I'm really curious to see what you find. Would you happen to have been the ones who built the motor and have an idea of the dates the pistons were purchased?
  16. lccynmbr13

    4G64 crank?

Stock rods, any manufacturers "stroker pistons", and you need to grind you're main caps as well as a small portion on the block to allow for clearance of the rod bolts. It's really simple.
  17. lccynmbr13

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

I wonder if what you said is true about them changing the forging. It's very possible that if this is the case, my pistons may had been stocked on my builders shelf pre '05. Can anyone verify if theirs have had the same cracks on a piston manufactured post '05?I'm definately not trying...

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

I'm not easily ass hurt I'm just tired of the people on this forum always being so quick to think everyone else is naive. I never once said all Wiseco pistons are bad. I'm just saying it's happened to enough people that you should be forwarned what you could be buying. If it's not an issue to...

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

I'm glad that you assume that we're all stupid when replying to my post. I have never so much as moved my car an inch without warming it up to operating temperature. The 420a piston is a totally different piston than a 4g63 so that's irrelevant. Recognize who you're talking down to before you...

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

I'm getting the feeling it's less hit and miss and more of people not knowing what to look for. The movement on DSMLink at this point is stay away from wisecos unless they're 1400 HDs.
  21. lccynmbr13

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

The pin bosses are perfectly fine though, and I personally checked the piston to wall clearance when I pulled the motor apart to verify my builders specs and it was .004" which is within the normal range for these pistons. I'm attaching a picture this time for those that have viewed this thread...

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

As I said before I haven't heard of one of them actually coming apart yet so I wouldn't get to scared of that. I just wouldn't reuse them yano? I wish more people would post on this thread with their experiences with them so we could find out if any of them actually are coming apart. Problem...

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

I never had any problems with mine either, until I took them out and inspected them. Have you ever pulled those pistons out to have a look? Personally regardless of performance, cracking is a problem to me, even if it wasn't symptomatic. For 500 dollars I expect a piston to hold up to the...
  24. lccynmbr13

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

Just measure them and take a dial bore to your cylinders to be safe, you should be doing that anyway before you put a forged piston in the hole.
  25. lccynmbr13

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

Well even if they are off by a couple thousandths (which they shouldn't be but sometimes things happen) you won't be having your block machined before you give them the pistons, and assuming your machinist takes the time to individually machine each cylinder to each individual piston (which you...

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

I hope my post wasn't misleading. The Wiseco HD piston is a wicked piston I'm not claiming anything different. I'm talking about the standard Wiseco forged pistons, the NON HD version. No worries sir you have one of the best pistons money can buy.
  27. lccynmbr13

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

It's definately a problem with the product, search the DSMLink forums regarding Wiseco skirt cracking. The pistons appear in perfect condition when inspected, perfect ringlands and tops, no signs of damage due to detonation, then you flip them upside down and look really hard at the skirts and...

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

I just thought I'd let everyone in the community know about the terrible experience I've had with Wiseco before considering purchase of their pistons for future builds. My last motor was built with standard Wiseco stroker pistons. I made just over 500hp for 2 track passes and about 10-12000...

What is the end all clutch fix 1g dsm ACT2600.

Put a shim behind the clutch ball. This needs to be done on every act install I don't know why they don't come with them. A turbo bolt washer is the perfect size, take the pivot ball out and put it back on with the washer. Problem solved.

    Tri Metal or Aluminum Bearings

Thanks for the input Tuna. I'd assume that's why my Clevites flaked last time (quite literally). I'll be going with ACL tri metals this time around. I'll be sure to post up my exprience with both bearings after a couple thousand miles of pounding on the new ones.

i have fuel cut no matter how the apexi is tuned?

John,Your boost controller doesn't decrease boost, the minimum boost you can run is that of your wastegate spring (unless there is a large boost leak or a severe exhaust blockage). The boost controller is for raising boost pressures. With an internally gated 16g as the one you are planning...

    Colorado to Dubai...my DSM transformation.

Once you get the car there you need to tune it! Bring a logger with you and drive around making sure you aren't knocking. 125* temps are going to make your AIT's ridiculously high and I have a feeling you're going to knock like a mother.

Help me identify this maf-t and injectors

I just bought this car from a kid that knew nothing about it. It doesn't have a wideband (COMING SOON DON'T WORRY) yet so I couldn't tell you what...

    oem wastegate actuator question

Real deal don't go ghetto like that. Your factory manifold is good enough for horsepower levels that'll make you smile. If you really want to go tubular though don't buy an ebay one it'll crack and leave a sour taste in your mouth about tubulars. Get a high quality one that'll last a while...

    1st and 5th grind

After a thorough lookover I'm pleased to say it totally slipped my mind that the clutch is WAY out of adjustment. Its adjusted (as purchased) with the rod all the way out with it riding the hell out of the throwout bearing. I adjusted it to the way it should be and not to my surprise found...

    1st and 5th grind

I just bought a '93 GSX for my new daily driver. Before I bought it I test drove it but never got up to feeway speeds and never got to 5th gear. 1st gear grinds every time you pop it in from a stop unless you put it into 2nd first. I seem to be able to put it into first when deceling around...

How far can I rev on a stroker block?

I rev my 2.3 with eagle acrank and rods with wisecos to 8k. Motor didn't last very long though either. With my ball bearing to4z on this next build I'm hoping to be able to shift at 7500 and still land in the fat range of my powerband. You want to spool a fat turbo on a daily driver build a...

    Oil on piston #2

He's a rookie he had no idea what the process even consisted of to do a compression test let alone know that oil will raise compression results. Just wanted to make sure you guys agree that the valve seal is most likely the culprit.

    Oil on piston #2

I'm considering buying a 1st gen from my buddy for a daily driver. I went over to his house to run a compression test and got (from the timing belt over) 148-149-147-148 and was pleased with the results, but when I was putting the spark plugs back in noticed that the top of piston 2 was wet...

    Raspy Exhaust Note

Car farts 30 seconds after shutoff

Nope runs completely normal. I can't capture the sound for you all because its too random sometimes I won't notice it for more than a week. If you want to know how it sounds by a party horn that's the exact noise.

Car farts 30 seconds after shutoff

I'm pretty sure it's not coolant either. What I'm starting to think is it's fuel related from under the hood it sounds like it's coming from the firewall but my dad heard it loud near the back of the car by the gas cap. I'm wondering if fuel pressure is releasing and it's echoing throughout...
