You are too good to waste your time reading information and would rather be fed. :)-RVR intake manifold has smaller TB opening (2g TB) vs EVO has opening for 1g TB
-RVR has 4 vacuum ports IIRC vs EVO III has 5Also be aware that there is an EVO I/II manifold too that is slightly...
The idea of the new version that enhances the non-eprom ECU is very interesting. The flashable method is not as user friendly as the DSMlink interface and this should be an advantage for the new V4. From a cost standpoint, the added price for V4 will be more than offset by 1) not having to...
My previous wheels were 18x7.5 +42 and were far from clearing. Evo wheels (which barely clear) are 17x8 +38. You will want to find wheels that work on Evos (though they often go with more aggressive wheels because they can clear them) and use that as references. If the wheels are close, a...
Eric, thanks again for being a great seller!I received my intake manifold and at first I was confused on which one it might be. I went back and read the beginning of this thread and conclude that I have an Evo I or II intake mani: TB opening is 60mm, I don't have the barb at the end of the...
I bought mine from Eric (Debbie) and he was excellent! He sent it 5 day priority from England and I got it in Fla in a little over 2 weeks. I would highly reocmmend him, he was communicative and the mani with a coilpack was a good price relative to here.
THanks, Gene. I will be running the EVO3 intake manifold and it sounded like you were moving on to 272/272. It sounds like you were happy with the 264/272 but now want to shift your curve over and the 272 intake will achieve that, correct?
Very good thread and congrats on meeting your goal! If you were to do it all over again and stay on pump/race gas, would you have gone with the 660s? I'm working towards a similar setup and I have not made a decision on cams (264 or 272) and injectors (660 or 780s). Definately ECMLink V3 to tune.
You will have to make an adaptor to fit the DSM front brakes. The bolts that hold your caliper to the hub are 160mm apart (IIRC) and ours are less apart (150mm?). KMV is a member on here that made brackets for us to use Evo Brakes he might be able to help you with one for going the other way...
housegsx posted a list that is pretty spot on. You can spend big money on rotors or you can get some cheaper options that are good for a DD/Street car.Calipers: $300-$500
Rotors/pads: $200-$600
KMV brackets: $115
SS Lines (DSM ones): $100
Longer bolts for the bracket and for the rear...
I've drag raced before, but I'm not an expert in suspension setups for drag racing. The suspension in the Evo is the McPherson strut similar to the 1g. I would look at what setups some of the fastest 1g's have and find similar applications. With your height, the car is probably transferring a...
I recommend the Evo brakes, too. Feels good and looks good. I bought the bracket from KMV and I bought my rotors and pads from Evobrakes.net he is a vendor on Evom and got good reviews.I'm a picture whore:
My wife's PT Cruiser turbo (similar tranny to the 420a) had a transmission failure at 42k miles. We purchased upgrades and had it rebuilt locally, the transmission now has more miles than the stocker did without any issues. If you are ok with having to rebuild it at some point, this would be a...
Very nice car, looks very well kept. My only concern is the automatic transmission, chrysler autos are known to not be the best. I daily drove my GS for years with the only major issue being a headgasket failure. IIRC, the gas mileage was round 27 city and 30 highway, I remember it being pretty...
The Evo III is better because it has higher compression, better turbo, better manifolds, better throttlebody, better cams. People who blow their engines here in the US, have swapped them but true Evo III engines are hard to find in the US so I don't have the details. The main differences will be...
Driver Mod x2.Instead of MSD wires, go with the NGK wires, cheap and real good. Also SS brake lines are a good one time upgrade. They run about $100 and new brake fluid will really help. The fluidyne radiator is nice but for the money, the Mishimoto with new hoses is a good deal, too...
If you price out the bolts and washers separately its close to break even IIRC. I bought these from STM before I swapped wheel setups.STM: REAR CAMBER KIT 2G DSM (95-99)I have them brand new in the package. If you want them, I just want to break even. Paypal me $24 and I'll pay to ship...
You can go to a place like Goodyear where their alignment is good for the year and just re-do it once you install the kit. Many DSMers run without camber kit (myself included) but the best way is to have them on. If I wasn't running such a wide setup, I would have them.
The intake mani on a 420a is a PITA! I swapped mine out in my old GS years ago for a powdercoated one and it took a long time as well. The 420a tilts to the back a little in the 2g engine bay and it makes it very difficult. IIRC, there is also the fuild reservoir back there. If you go through...
I measured my camber before switching to this wheel/tire combo. Maybe it did change after, but not 100% sure.Regardless, you don't HAVE to get a camber kit. You can run without it, but your tires will wear unevenly and therefore need replacement much sooner than a propely lowered car. Since...
Any time you lower the car from factory, the suspension geometry changes. The camber kit ensures that your wheel/tire combo (regardless of size) has a flat contact with the ground (unless you adjust it to purposely run a specific setting for road racing). If I used a camber kit on my car the top...
John, aren't you on DSMP, too?My car has Eibach Pros and Koni adjustable shocks and I definately need camber kits for both front and rear. When I had it aligned, my rear camber was off by more than my fronts. Unfortunately, I can't correct my camber due to my tire width and profile.
Here are some pics of the brakes fully installed on my 2g. I wish I knew of this 2nd version of the bracket. I used the 1st one and felt a little sketchy cutting down my knuckles as much as it needed. The upgrade is definately worth it, though.Left side is 2g AWD stock and right side is the...
I have 17x8 +35 offset and I run 245/45/17 and I'm lowered on Koni adjustables and Eibach Pros. I had to roll my rear fenders and it is fine now.I recommend at least a 235/40 for 17x8. Jimmer is right, its the offset of the wheel that determines where they line up.
This is a good idea. Odds are your 14b's hot side has some cracks in it. After you replace it with the newer turbine housing, the turbo should run a lot better.
Hello everyone, this is the official picture thread so you cans ee more pics of the event:SE DSM Regional Meet Picture 2010 Thread - DSMpurity.com Forums
The fuel pump is supposed to get 12V but because its in the back of the car and connected with a small wire, it really doesn't get 12V. The re-wire ensures that the fuel pump gets the right voltage and therefore performs better = more fuel.
I agree not to buy the SAFC because Link will make it obsolete. What I would recommend is to do the mods to the car on the 14b that you can. Then save up and gather the parts to swap in the next turbo. It's not instant gratification, but you will mod it right the first time around.
Just PM'ed you. It would be sweet if you guys can make it to the event on Saturday or Sunday. If you know any other DSMers let them know. 2 years ago we had 65+ DSMs.
Definately, I would not waste $300 on a turbo that could go bad to then have to spend an additional $500 to replace it when it does. If you are wanting to cheap out with this, I'm scared to hear about any shortcuts you will take on the engine and tranny rebuild. Having a cheap and barely running...
Hey man, there is a big DSM meet in Jacksonville this weekend. Some Orlando folks are coming over:Southeast Regional 4G63 Meet ~ February 12th-14th 2010 - Orlando DSM ForumHope to see you then.
