Looks amazing, the car keeps getting better and better. Glad you decided to stay with it.I remember PM'ing you 4-5 years ago asking about the first paint (Rustoleum Professional I think) you used on your bay. Mine is holding up great.Keep up the clean work, definitely an inspiration to us all!
Just wanted to update this thread, I replaced both output bearings, they each had about 1/8" or more worth of play. Only drove the car a mile or so since, but no leaks so far, and I think I put everything back together correctly. Shifts great. The gears had some chipped teeth, but nothing too...
Yes. I did the same thing with my HX35 but I only used the end that bolts to the oil pan side since the HX35 has a different pattern on the center section. That is the best ID setup I could find. The 12AN fittings are smaller than the factory drain. So I figured that was the best option. If I...
Yea. Nothing worse than putting it all back together to fund out it still leaks. Been there done that.I still haven't pulled the trans to do this. It's basically hanging by just the motor mounts ready to come out. Just haven't had the motivation. But I will update when it's all apart. I'm...
Just ordered all of the items you have listed here (besides regular sockets), now need to order two Koyo 6207 C3 bearings. Should be tackling this next week!Hopefully I don't find any other damage or wierdly-worn things because of the bearing. On a side note, do people ever replace the bolts...
OK, I'm thinking about attempting to replace this front diff bearing. Does anyone know of any write-ups or have any tips on this? Do all the gears have to come out? I have never had a transmission apart before, so I'm not familiar with the procedure or any of the internals.I have a crusty 97+...
That's the problem, I don't want to do all that work and not shim something properly or not reassemble something properly and grenade the whole thing after all that. A trans is probably the only thing I haven't ever had apart to rebuild.I know the part is only 40 bucks so it's tempting.I...
In the 3 years since I did my AWD swap, the passenger side axle seal always leaked. I replaced it three times, along with the axle twice. Leaked the same amount no matter what.Took it all apart again today and something made me try to move around the differential. Well, the differential roller...
I happened to find one I took during install back in 2014. It does not leak, and the -12AN hose barely fit over the stock cut drain. I obviously clamped both ends.Using a -12AN fitting would be much more restrictive than this, based on my measurements. And this is cheaper and easier....
I'll keep an eye out. I'm in Syracuse. Not much for sale around here as far as DSM parts go. So they will stand out for sure. People are unbelievably scummy.
You could always put a nipple on the sensor and mount it on the firewall or something, then connect with a vacuum hose. Not as nice as your current setup, but that's how I run it.
I know this is an old thread, but I just did mine in about 30 minutes. Take battery out, take starter out, and it's pretty easy access. I used a pair of Channel-Locks (I know...) to break the old one free, and to tighten the new one down snug. Not as bad as I thought it would be.
I used 16ga but it was a little overkill and hard to form. But obviously stronger. But if I did it again, I would probably use 18. 20ga just seems too thin, even though its probably closest to stock metal.
I have never seen the 2G front bushings sold separately. I know someone makes solid aluminum, and maybe solid poly ones. But I haven't seen the OEM ones separate ever.
Doesn't do it justice really, but I'm just concerned with the area that the windshield mounts. It seems bent in where the hump on the hood hit. And it's all bent up where the sunroof seals. That CF hood skin would be sweet. How would it attach? I have never had any luck when trying to contact...
No idea, hood was latched as usual, flew up and smashed roof and windshield going about 60. Undivided 4 lane road, glad I didn't go off the road or hit anyone I guess. Just not sure what to do now.
Just had this happen about an hour ago. Did anyone have issues mounting the new glass if the roof line is off at all? Mine smashed my roof and all around my sunroof. Can the roof "skin" be replaced?
It was so easy just to pop in the 3G BB/MC as a pair. Took minutes. Didn't have to adjust or move anything. I don't know why anyone would do it any other way.Besides the lines/fittings, obviously.
That's awesome!! I'm about 1.5 hours from there (I'm in Syracuse) and have always wanted to hit that track. There aren't many road race tracks in this area, that's the closest. Do they do that multiple times a year?? I tried looking into HPDE events there but haven't found much info.
Amazing build! Not sure how I missed this one, but just read it all! So many things I have wanted to implement in my build, thanks for the detailed photos and posts! Definitely gives me some motivation I have been needing.
I started off as a 5 Spd GST, and did a 5 Spd AWD swap a few years back. Best thing I've ever done to the car, hands down.I am sometimes tempted to look into an auto swap, but I don't drag race the car at all, just take it out on weekends like you, so I think it would lose too much of it's...
After reading and searching around, I ordered the lines from RTM. Great quality and perfect fit. Don't have to worry about modifying everything. It's worth the money.
