  1. Electric Cutout Custom Switch Wiring Question

There are vacuum operated exuast cutouts on the market that open when you loose vacuum, like when you start to boost. I have not yet had the chance to try one yet but the idea sounds interesting. Possibly someone else has tried this setup and will chime in.
  2. 1G Please identify if this is a ecmlink or just socked ecu

Please post the sellers info so nobody else gets taken by him. And also the ad that he posted if you can.
  3. Exploding flywheel

You are right. The word needs to get out to everybody about using stock flywheels on modified cars. They can be life threatening when they come apart. The flywheel may look like it is in great shape but remember these 6 bolt flywheels have been around for 20 years. Most have been abused. Don't...
  4. Arkansas members

You say no cracks in leather so what is with the black tape on the rear seats? Was something mounted there?
  5. bad vibration under accel, CEL on.

Pull your plugs, even though they were new. Ohm test your plug wires. Its possible when you did a 5th gear pull you went lean and burnt a valve or piston top ring. When your plugs are out look at them and read the burn pattern on the tips. That will tell you if one or more cyls are misfiring...
  6. Place that sells new timing cover?

I need a dealership like that near me!
  7. Full build installed. Won't start.

It sounds like you may not have the engine grounded well enough. Dsm's are very finicky with grounding everything on the eng. With relays and sensors "blowing" as you say, there had to be voltage going thru things it shouldn't. Take your time and check all connections and seals on your install...
  8. Turbo oil drain questions .... Pics included

Make sure you have the correct PCV valve for a turbo engine to hold back the boosted presure
  9. Turbo oil drain questions .... Pics included

The PVC system is there to pull vacuum on your crankcase. The checkvalve keeps boost pressure from entering your crankcase from the intake. At idle the intake manifold pulls vacuum and under boost or full throttle the vacuum comes from the pipe between the MAF and the turbo. You need vacuum to...
  10. Grinding 3rd gear when cold

Look at your clutch slave cyl and check to see if it is leaking. Make sure there is no air in the clutch sys by bleeding out correctly. Check the clutch adjustment and look to see if the clutch rod fully disengages the disc. Try pumping the pedal before putting into gear. That will show if the...
  11. Turbo oil drain questions .... Pics included

I found this on DSMTUNERS. I hope it explains the correct PCV system. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/366890-4g63t-pcv-system.html
  12. What Fluid Would Get On The Upper Timing Cover?

I did see post #5. Thats why I posted. You said "So far so good and I haven't marked resolved yet until I know for sure that was it." Just trying to help in case the power steering line was only part of your problem. Other people might have similar issues that a steering line repair doesn't...
  13. Any "Flocked" Dashes?

Why not cover it with a fabric. I have seen cars where the owner used a headliner material in a camo design that didn't look bad. You can get about any color or pattern you wish and either tuck it or use headliner adhesive to attach it. I personally like the stock look.
  14. What Fluid Would Get On The Upper Timing Cover?

By chance have you check your dipstick seal. Mine was distorted and I lost oil onto my cover when I was boosting. I also thought power steering was my problem and resealed the fitting but found the dipstick seal was where the oil was coming from.
  15. Turbo oil drain questions .... Pics included

Assuming that your turbo is in good shape and your oil feed line is sufficient I would check to make sure the inside of your drain line is not partially blocked where the fitting fits into the line. The 90 degree bend should not be a problem. Sometimes when assembling these lines the end of the...
  16. 2g tranny

This is what Jacks says about oil Oil – Jacks Transmissions LLC
  17. Random shutoff

Check your ECU. Its not a good thing to test the alternator by unpluging the battery with the engine running. Many people have fried their ECU that way. E85 does have tricky tuning issues when it gets cold. Try messing with fuel and timing settings at idle and low rpm. Also check the fuel tank...
  18. multiple electrical problems.

Your starter problem could be a number of issues. First thing I would look at is the voltage while cranking. It should be between 10.5 and 12.5 I believe. Next I would check to see if the starter is the correct one for your application and that it is tightened to the trans enough. Check your...
  19. 2g tranny

Your fluid viscosity may be too thick. Check with Jacks to find out what he recomends
  20. NE Georgia Swap Meet is Saturday, November 9

Is this a DSM/Tuners swap meet or all makes and models
  21. Cracked Head

I agree that it is most likely a bad headgasket. I would suggest that you take the head to a good machine shop where they can freshen it up while it is out. They can also check for any other possible causes of coolant leaking. That way you can definitly rule out the head as a problem and build...
  22. Used DSM with no problems?

The problem we all have with DSM's is that they are fun to drive and people bought them to beat the crap out of them. 20 years of beating later we have cars that need lots of maintence done to make them reliable again. These cars are simple to work on and are good for a young tuner to learn on...
  23. Jeep Wrangler or Wrx

The WRX has very little back seat leg room. If you are planning to drive friends around they better have short legs. Go test drive to see if it would work for you with people in the back seat.
  24. extended crank startup

Could be a fuel drain-back issue. There is a check valve in the top of the fuel pump that seems to be "iffy" on walbro fuel pumps.Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? If so, check to see if the fuel pressure drops significantly 10mins after shutting off the off the car.Note: DSM's do not...
  25. to sell or not to sell

I am a 1G man. I would stay away from the Trans Am. I know it sounds tempting but a 1G AWD roller would provide you with more enjoyment than that Pontiac. Swap your engine, make it nice, and enjoy the twist and turns of those Arkansas roads. Good luck.
  26. help with starter issue?

You say the ring gear is good but I would look again while the starter is out. Also have the starter checked out to be sure it is good
  27. help with starter issue?

It sounds like your first problem may be some bad spots on your flywheel ring gear causing the starter to just spin and not engage the engine. That will require the trans to be removed for repair. Next problem sounds like a connector to the starter may have gotten hot and lost its connection...
  28. Battery not charging(Not alt or belt)

1G cars seem to need to be well grounded so first check your grounds and battery terminals. Also check the fuses at the positive battery terminal. It wouldn't hurt to recheck your alternator at a different store to make sure it is ok. The wiring at the alternator plug may have gotten hot and...
  29. HEMI in an eclipse

It sounds like you did some research. With the correct suspension it will be able to hook up and go. I would like to see the progress as you go. Take lots of pictures and post them as you go.
  30. Need to know what goes in this hole.

Its hard to tell from the picture but is the hole a taper thread for a pipe plug? Does it go into the oil galley or water pasage? More pictures would help identify it.
  31. HEMI in an eclipse

I say go for it. It sounds like it will be a time consuming build. I think it would be a good idea to build a full cage so the body can handle the stress of the V8. 6 years ago I bought a 6 bolt from a guy in Ohio who was swapping a Dodge 383 into a 1G but I lost contact with him and don't know...
  32. WOT brick wall and im stock??

You may want to check your fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Also check or change your fuel filter. I had a similar problem years ago with my 92 Laser and it was my fuel pump. There is also an issue that the stock wiring to the fuel pump is too smal to handle the voltage needed when you reach...
  33. WTB proportioning valve

Help me out. I am looking for a brake proportioning valve for my 93 Laser AWD. I need the one for the non ABS big brakes cars. With all the partouts someone has to have one of these. I am willing to pay cash and pull it off. Please help. Text me at 708-205-0271 I live in the Hermitage TN. area...
  34. WTB proportioning valve 93 laser big brakes non abs

I am hoping someone is parting out a car and has one of these. I have been looking all around and cannot find one. I am told 94-94 cars without ABS had the correct valve. Let me know what you have. I will pick up locally or pull it off for you. Let me know hou much and when. Please text me at...
  35. White Smoke / Car Is Smoking White [Merged 7-9]

I have found that when your valve stem seals are going bad they will smoke on startup. Bad piston rings will smoke during accelerating or under load. When the turbo seal starts to go bad it will smoke at idle then as it gets worse it will smoke during deceleration. It seems to me that there are...
  36. My car is hard to start sometimes

+3 on the Coolant Temp Sensor. Check the connection. Over time the wires around the thermostat housing tend to get very brittle and break. The sensor is the one towards the bottom with two wires. The one with one wire is for the temp gauge. and the one towards the top is for the A/C.The ECU...
  37. Fastest time for 13g auto ?

    I know, not an AUTO but, with my full weight 92 gsx 5speed, I ran a TD04HL 13g to a 13.18 @ 103.9mph with a 8.433 1/8th @ 82.17mph, with a 1.81 60ft time.The engine was just a 2g piston 1g rod 6bolt combo. DSMLink, E85, Full 3" TBE, FMIC, header, o2 dump, and 20psi falling to 14 at 6k.I...

From: Stealth 316 - Turbo Upgrade GuideTD05H-14G-6cm2 - number: 49178-01750Thats my guess because the serial nuber you gave was incomplete. The one above I came up with is from looking at your picture.

  41. 1g race front spoiler

Here are a few pictures of the home-made splitter I acquired for my Eclipse. I have felt a difference in steering feel on the highway with this splitter and I feel it gives my eclipse a unique look.I can get better pictures of the mounting and of the splitter overall but these were just a...

  43. Chop Shops Asia , 4G63 Misconceptions

I got one of those hks twin plate clutches in my jdm engine/trans combo i bought.:D I guess i got pretty lucky.By the way, how much do those twin plate clutches go for?
  44. [RESOLVED] transmission

Yes the trans will bolt up, but I think the clutch and flywheel are different. If anything, all you need to do is bolt up the turbo parts and it will work.
  45. I think I broke it!!!

Uh yea it was just that stupid little plate under the engine by the trans that was scraping the flexplate and torque converter and so i just bent it way back and now it runs great.NO TICKING LOL :talon:
  46. I think I broke it!!!

to just sum it up, i just got the engine running corectly today after i had just bought a used(70000mile) bottom end for it. its all completely stock. ok now the bad news... my sis and i took the car around the block and boosted it alittle :sneaky:,nothing over 4000rpm just to be safe everything...
