Alright, so I've narrowed down my problem and due to the symptoms and my research, I think my crank pulley has separated from the harmonic dampener or whatever. Correct me if I'm wrong... When my belt squeels like a bi*** and there is a clicking/knocking noise, this has to deal with the crank...
Personally, i don't really like dark rims, even though i bought my car with gun metal ones, but i like the paint job and the interior/custom stereo. But that front bumper is too goofy for me... It makes it look like a whole new car with the cut-out in the middle. Still in all, nice ride.
Sorry to hear man... I feel your pain though. I got rod knock, so my car is gonna be hibernating in the garage for the winter until I have the cash for a new engine. Until then, I'm ruffin it in a 97' Camry... Sorry to get off topic, but is www.overbore.com a reliable source? They seem legit and...
Yea just like 7" said, there are two screws on the outside of each light. Undue those and the light will just pop out. then just disconnect it and you're good to go. :thumb:
You're fine. I just took mine off the other day, but you will need to remove the big center bolt to get it off. Leave atleast one little bolt in, so the pulley won't fall off. Just stick a 1/2 inch ratchet in the center of the big bolt, unplug the ignition on the fuel rail, and turn it over and...
http://www.dsm.org/archives/1998/09/19980914.txt/71.html"When the crankshaft "walks", it pushes the backplate into the crank
sensor causing it to fail (literally, it tears through the sensor)."http://members.shaw.ca/costall/1000Q/answers-terms.htm#whatiscrankwalk"Another possibility...
So if my lower timing belt cover is dug in about 1 to 2mm, is that a symptom of crankwalk or would that just be a bad pulley? Correct me if I'm wrong, but crankwalk is when the crankshaft gets off by about 1/1000 of an inch. How would that cause it to dig in that far? My car didn't have any...
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5108531850710167336&q=crank+pulley&hl=enI'd also like to include that this 3000GT in this video sounds exactly like my clicking noise, if that helps at all. And my car takes a few turns to start, just like this video.
I am aware of the lifter problem, but the clicking (when the driver side wheel is off) is coming directly from the crank pulley. Is there any other reason why the lower timing belt cover would be worn down? When you have crankwalk, doesn't the clutch pedal drop to the floor on a hard left turn...
Alright so crankwalk is the last thing I thought was wrong with my car, but I had my brother's friend who is a mechanic pull off the crank pulley, because I thought that that was the problem, but when he got it off, there was nothing wrong with the harmonic damper or the bearing, or anything...
Well you see, that's the thing... it used to just do it in the morning or after school/letting it sit for a while. Now, it kind of hesitates when turning over, but then goes fine and runs smooth, but I can feel vibration from the clicking noise through the clutch pedal. Anyway, everytime I turn...
So is it THAT bad/risky to go undampened, since plenty of people do it? How much is the stock pulley? my friend said that the belt was really wobbley when starting up and the clicking noise is distinctly coming from the pulley. Is the underdrive worth the money, and does it help your performance...

I hate to bring this back up, but idk what to do. I waited for ever, got a nice trg coated valve cover, and it didn't fixing the clicking noise... The oil baffle on the old cover was practically dangling and a corner of one of the divider pieces that sits on the cam, was bent in a little. I...
It's kinda ghetto... but i just ran mine by poking a hole in the steering wheel column boot. Someone suggested it to me and now I am suggesting it to you :thumb: .
I've never been much of a Fox body fan, but I do know that they can be very fast. It also depends on how much they're asking for the GSX... What year is it? Whats the mileage like? Is it completely stock? 5-speed? Pictures? Let us know so we can tell you if it's a good deal? Personally, I'm...
Yea, I could believe 400 mpg out of a N/A, since that's about what I could get out of my old Eclipse, but not a turbo. I agree with mybeatgsx. The gauges are very inaccurate, especially if you make a hard run. I've had it drop an 1/8 of a tank and then when I turn it off for a while and get back...
Okay, I'd just like to apologize for wasting everyone's time. My friend and I just changed the oil and put a new oil filter on, which by the way my car was running on about 3 qts. of black oil, hence the bad performance. My car started up fine like normal, and we noticed that underneath the...
I'm sorry, but the video is very misleading... the sound seems like it is coming from everywhere and when I listen to it, it isn't really a knocking... it's more of a clicking and it is right by the mid-left region of the intake cam. My friend posted it on his msprotege.com forum and alot of...
Okay, My friend and I checked the plugs, and when we pulled the two on the left (individually), the noise continued and when we pulled the two on the right (individually) the car bogged down and almost died?!?!?! Is that normal cause the sound kept going as it was dying. It shouldn't be a rod or...

Okay Okay... My friends and I popped off the valve cover today to check the cams. The cams appear to be fine, but in the process we discovered a couple of small shavings of metal right next to the valves above the 2nd piston from the left, but it was just 2 small pieces. My thought is that...
Went to the tracks yesterday... ran a 15.136... drove the highway home and pushed my car the last few hundred feet home after it shook and stalled... clicking noise coming from the intake cam/valve region, hopefully not a rod. Car sputters when starting and engine shakes back and forth alot with...
Well, I did take off the valve cover this morning and my friend and I think that everything looks good and the cams aren't damaged or worn at all... I'm afraid to start it again, let alone drive it. The engine shook like crazy this morning when I let it run and it had a subtle clicking that went...
Well... this sucks... I had a different person listen to the clicking noise and he says that he thinks I threw a rod :sosad: . If this is true, I have no idea what to do. Do I have to rebuild the engine? Should I do a 6-bolt swap? Will my parents let me live to see my DSM running normal another...
Alright, so i went to Import Face-Off today and decided to run my car a few times... I guess I ran one run too many. I heard clicking and I pulled into a jiffy lube and the guy told me that there was a flat spot on one of my cam shafts. On the way home, I think it might have snapped, but I...
I agree with boosted-dsm. I would only buy it as a secondary car to drive, while you work on a car that actually has potential (turbo AWD preferably). I personally would never drop any money into a N/T again...:beatentodeath: it's just not worth it.
Yea I used to have five star neepers on my old DSM and they looked like my a**hole... I'm pretty sure everyone on the face of the planet would agree... Steelies might even look better haha.
I agree with fulanititoo and the majority of the people that have commented... Sell the Cobra, but do not buy the car you were looking at. It takes a little time to find a healthy, well-kept dsm, but you can give yourself a pat on the back when you do and you'll be satisfied. Besides, if you're...
Agreed, exhaust is most important to start with, which is what I'm about to get. Then I'd get a better fuel pump and injectors. FMIC is a ways down the road.
Alright, so I just searched the forums and I found the exact question i was wondering which is, will a Megan Racing downpipe bolt up to an Apexi N1 Catback? This question was never answered and no one replied . I plan on buying the Megan DP, so could anyone tell me if this is possible or what...
I currently have uninstalled hoodpins, and my talon is my daily driver. The previous owner installed the cf hood and rode for 3 years without using hoodpins, so i'd say that I trust VIS hoods, but I'm probably gonna install the hoodpin locks soon.
Alright, thanks you guys. I'll look into the downpipe, octane booster and race gas... I have a carbon fiber hood, so that should help with weight, and I'll take out my seats. Other than that, As I Lay Dying is an AMAZING band haha. Thanks for the advice.
I'd say have the intake manifold ported and get a 1G throttle body and 1G BOV. Those were a couple of my first upgrades and my car is a great daily driver.
Alright, so Kansas DSM's and Subaru's are meeting on the 6th of Sept. at the track and I've never raced at a track before... Is there any helpful info I should know to get the best 1/4 mile time possible. And with the few mods that I have, how high of psi should I run? I have a MBC but it's...
Haha I had the same problem with my last DSM, and it was basically just showing metal. I ended up just selling it and getting a new one without that problem :thumb: , but i did look in to it and it can be pretty expensive to replace those. I was told around $100 per trim peice, but if you wanna...
I have the exact same problem. It started doing it two days ago, when I hooked up my MBC. I didn't know whether it was a bad thing or not. So this means there is a boost leak? I'll look for a hole or see if i did something wrong with the Tee in the BOV line to the Intake Manifold.
No, the Spyder GS's do not come with a stock rear sway bar. One can be added, however, because the parts needed to do the conversion match with the Spyder GST.2 Rear Control Arms MR131754 $55.00/each
2 End Links MB892982 $15.00/each
2 Brackets MB515245 $ 7.00/each

I found my TSi AWD with minor bolt-ons which I got for $6500 with 91K miles on it, but I personally would not want to buy a DSM that's that far along in mods. Besides, that just takes all of the fun out of it... having everything done for you. I might take it though, since it's pretty rare to...
