That's the code and I pulled the ECU last night and everythig looks ok internally. Cleaning out the housing right now because it had oil in it and it may be causing the problem, stay tuned lol.
Man I hope to god you're right lol. I already bought the damn cam sensor so I'm probably out that $75 if this does prove to be the problem. I don't think autozone will return electronic parts.
So my headache continues, I keep throwing a code for cam position sensor and I did all the diagnostic (service manual) checks and it all checks out. However when I pulled the CPS out it had a coating of oil on it and I just went down and pulled off the cover on the housing and there's oil in...
Well I misread my service manual, apparently the ECU is not the culprit, but still "could" be. Anyway I'm going to rerun the tests from the service manual on the cps and connector since I was running on three hours sleep yesterday. It just make no sense I did notice the cps was coated in oil...
Thanks for the info!! I searched but the results were toooooo many for "ecu" and the stupid search feature won't let you use a 2 character criteria like 2G. Anyone know a surefire way to test this thing? I couldn't find that info either. What started this whole thing was my car not starting and...
Well unfortunately I think I've narrowed my problem down to a fried ECU. I've been trying to find one in the classifieds but I'm not sure for instance a 96 GSX manual ecu will work in my 98 GST Auto (just an example) any help would be greatly appreciated. I need to know if ANY ecu that's a 2G...
So I'm coming home last night and get off the highway come to a stop at the first red light and my car dies and won't start just cranks and cranks and cranks. Had it towed back to my house hooked the scanner up to it and it says "camshaft position sensor A Bank 1 circuit malfunction". So I buy a...
Still not sure what I should do. What are we looking at time frame wise to so this yourself? I'm leaning on just letting him do it because it's my daily transportation so I need it back ASAP. Also, I'm assuming noone makes an aftermarket stronger flexplate??
So my car started making this horrible vibration right, I'm hoping it's the motor mounts but of course that would be too easy. I drop it off at the tranny shop and my mechanic tells me today that my flexplate is cracked in half.....nice.......he want's $400 to replace it! It this a job I should...
I'm runnin 17psi on the 14B which I'd guess to be about max efficiency, I could probably squeeze one or two more psi out of it before it starts blowing hot air. I have all the knock tuned out on the stock fuel system so I don't really need the bigger pump, thanks though. I'm actually buying a...
Just a bit of curiosity I need satisfied here. All the threads I search out say that a torque converter is the best performance mod you can do for your auto car yada yada yada. My question is why? What is it going to do for me? I understand it gives you the ability to have a higher rpm when...
Honestly, if I had it to do over I would spend the extra money and go with the pocketlogger setup. It's not that this setup is bad mind you, but the OBDGauge software that comes on it I found to be all but worthless. I ended up downloading Palm'n'Stein to it and it actually became a useful tool...
For some reason I can't figure out how to post in the classifieds so here it is. I am in desperate need of a 1G oil return line, if anyone has one they can part with please let me know ASAP. Thanks in advance.
Exactly, it's all about correlation lol I learned some stuff in all those science classes in college ;) It's hard to just go out and log runs though considering I'm topping out well into the 100s on the highway and I'm not really in the mood to get more tickets.
Because I'm an idiot and was basically just experimenting. I'm going to go down in a minute and reset it to -1 across the board and see what happens. I figure that will be a good base to work from. Unfortunately it's dark now and my "test area" may have cops lurking in the shadows :(
I would think you can add a little on the stock injectors, but then it's going to keep the tmiing down. I'll put it back to the first log settings plus a little fuel on top and see what that nets.
I find it hard to believe noone has an opinion on these logs lol. I made some adjustments of my own I'm going to go make a run and I'll post the new log.
My points are set at 2, 2.6, 3, 3.6, 4, 4.6, 5, 5.6, 6, 6.6, and 7.2. This log is -2 correction up to 5K, then I set it to zero for the rest of the rpms.

Ok, so I went out and played around with the SAFC for like the second time today. I reread the tech article and I have a few questions. I'm unfortunately running the stock 450 cc injectors so in theory would my car be faster with less boost because I could keep the correction values down and get...
So I shouldn't try and lean it out anywhere to try and coax some more timing out of it?? I just want an excuse for spending alot of money on this SAFC lol. :D Going out to make a couple more runs right now, I'll post back in a few hours.
All autos do that, the only way to retain timing through gear changes is with DSMlink :( And yes that was a 1-3 run. I was in drive w/o o/d on and just smashed it to the floor :D I'm starting to think that's actually a better way to tune the car being as that's the way it's going to be run, but...
I know what you mean about the load. Just out of curiosity after setting the STFT while in park I clicked into drive and guess what? The numbers were off. So I reset the STFT to 0 revving to 1K in drive and I'm going to do the others on the highway tomorrow or over the weekend. I wish someone...

Edited above post to include airflow, probably will do another boost leak test tomorrow just to make sure, plugs are brand new NGK and properly gapped, but I'll check just to make sure.

You mean the SAFC setting?? Told ya I'm new at this lol. Anyway here's the new log, talk about inconsistent results, it has to be the easing into WOT that's causing this.

No idea what a correction value is lol. And the pump isn't rewired. I put fuel in at the wrong spot last time and fixed it this time, going out to make another log, I'll post back in about 20
Ok, this is starting to get under my skin, from what I've read you set the ne points up then free rev the car to those rpms and hold it and adjust the STFT until it's 0 +-2 correct? For some reason when I get the car to the rpm it's marginally off for a second then it fixes itself and goes...
Ok here's the new log, is it alright that I'm easing into the throttle in third to keep it from kicking down or is it giving me flawed results??

TPS reads 98%, and unfortunately I'm on the stock fuel system, I'm out of money again lol so it's going to be awhile before I can upgrade. On my way out now to make another pull. One quick question about the SAFC, you said add 2 or 3% around 5800-6200, should I add an nepoint at 6200 and put the...
Ok, so I finally broke down and bought a datalogger and SAFCII. The following is a log of a third gear uphill pull BEFORE the installation of the SAFCII. Bear in mind I have an auto so it's easing into WOT as quick as I can without making it kick down. Basically I'm new to this and have only a...
Everyone says to do a third gear pull at WOT, but that's going to be a bit difficult to accomplish in an auto. My logger should be here Wednesday so any help would be greatly appreciated. :thumb:
I was under the impression GSTs were one tire fryers. I never thought anything until today when I was practicing launching and got a little overzealous with the wheelspin. I came back and there were two big fat black marks. So I did it again and got the same results. Did my car come from the...
Well I already ordered the logger, so I'm just going to order the SAFC II. I should be able to get a pretty decent tune with the logger and SAFC correct? I know it's not wideband but it's better than letting the ecu do it, and I'll be bale to get the knock out right?
