The valve seat fits into the machined groove in the manifold, but it doesn't go all the way in. There is that 1/16th of an inch sticking out that is creating that gap. My concern with forcing the WG to sit flush with the mani flange by compressing the spring is that won't some gas be diverted...
Thanks guys. There is a groove on the mani for the seat but the size is off. I don't know if thats normal or not. Darren P is right about the gap, its about 1/16 to 1/8th". I'll give John at SBR a jingle. Thats where I bought the stuff. Thanks guys.
Thanks for the reply. I bought this stuff over a year ago so I don't remember what size spring is in it, but I cannot even push the valve at all with my thumbs. Can I remove the actuator top to relieve the tension, clamp the v-band on and them reassemble? or will that makes this hard to get...
I have a TiAL wastegate with V-Band flanges for the connections between the manifold and the dump tube. The exhaust header is the DNP performance T3/T4. When I put the "valve seat" into the bottom of the wastegate, the V-Bands that came with the TiAL don't fit around the flange of the manifold...
Look at the treaded rod on the clutch pedal where it actuates the master cylinder. That is where your adjustment is. It also sounds like it might be a worn clutch fork. How many miles are on the shep trans?? Look at your receipt and see if shep put a reinforced clutch fork in your trans.
One end goes directly to your cluster, the other to the tranny. Obviously it isn't in the tranny. There aren't that many things coming out of the firewall. If you don't know what the cable looks like, trace out all the "things" that come out of the firewall.
I saw EvilEagles dyno run and mod list. He must have a SPOT ON tune to get those numbers with that little modifications!!Yes, I should be revving about 8K. Remember though, I plan to obtain low 10s or lower using nitrous, meth, liq-to-air IC, and C16 gas ontop of the *small* GT35. If you...
I just put together a motor with a similar setup from SBR:
9:1 weisco (.020 over)
manley rods
stock crank
Stg III head
274 CamsSo long as your car is put together, tuned, and driven right, it will have no problem getting into the mid-10s possible low 10s or 9s if you use a 42R and...
Thats Marco's supra from Sound Performance. If I am not mistaken, His block was only partially filled so coolant was allowed at the top half of the cylinders (at least that was what I was told by a friend of his). I suppose he could have heard Marco say the top have of the motor (maybe meaning...
There is no way that you saw less than 0 deg F unless the sensor was not acurate. Also, as far as large resevoirs, a 15 gal resevoir + the core + piping will be over 160 pounds. Thats a lot of weight to add. Than you need a big ass pump which will draw a ton of amps from your alternator, load...
Sorry can't help you with first hand. That might be your problem with this site, not many people here run that type of setup. I would look at other resources (possibly forums) that are geared toward faster turbo cars. Guys at the track with 80's firebirds that have no air intake holes in...
Just thinking out loud, in order to get air intakes to 60 deg. the ambient air must be at least less than 60 deg. In a perfect world the heat from the air charge will pass onto the water via conduction and then onto the incoming air via convection. In the real world, there is no way that...
No they do NOT do the same exact thing. AEM EMS has sequential injection control which means you can tune out the rich condition in the 1st two cylinders (or the lean condition in the back 2, which ever way to think about it). Also you have customizable inputs/out puts so you can have nitrous...
I will wire it to the main EFI relay.. Thanks. BTW, wiring it to the FP is really bad as it will cause a really lean condition until the engine dies. With a low output motor, that shouldn't do any harm, but on a high HP motor, with nitrous and methonal injection, you are asking for trouble.
Thanks for the info Wiseman, and the link. Guys, don't get me wrong. This isn't our 1st drag car, its just my 1st EFI car. I know the importance of the cut off, but I was wondering if I can use the cutoff in between passes to save the battery (the car will have a small alternator, if any)...
I have a 92 TSI setup up for straight drag. Obviously I need an external battery shutoff incase of emergency, but can I use that cut off between passes or will that dump my ECU's maps. I am using DSMLink. Also, what is the best wire to use when creating a emergency kill switch? ECU Power...
The logic behind machining the BS to fit into the 2nd bearing race makes enough sense to make me think its necessary on any BS removal, especially if you are revving to 9 grand. I am building a full race motor, so in my case I think it is DEFINANTLY necessary.
A while back, there was a thread about machining the weights of the BS that runs the oil pump. I cannot find it anywhere. Does anyone remember what I am talking about or some of the words in the post so I can dig it up?
Just purchased the following stuff for my N/T block'ed AWD-T drag car from one of our site sponsors. Check it over and let me know what you all think. We are shooting for low 10-sec to hi 9-sec ETs:Manley H-Beam Conn. Rods
Wiesco Pistons (9.0:1 c/r, 0.20 over)
Stage 3 head (stock-sized...
I just bought a rolling chassis. It was advertised as having a wiring harness and a bottom end in bad condition. The bottom end turned out to be in EXCELLENT CONDITION! LOL So I don't want to/have to buy a motorset. I just need to source the rest of the stuff that didn't come with the...
Thats a good diagram, but it doesn't have the struts I am refering to.Look at that pic, see the pipes that run on the same plane as the hoop? They attach to the hoop at the same point as the x-member. On the pic, they do not have the 6x6 plates on the end of them. The instructions tell me...
Hmm... I don't know why the link doesn't work. I copied right from the browser. Anyway its the dsmparts.com roll cage on the main page. The instructions (from Moroso) instructed me to run those hoop struts to subframe connectors. Since our cars don't have them stock, I am assuming they mean...
So structurally, it would be okay to run those hoop struts to the floor pan next to (inward of) the hoop legs, as opposed to aftermarket subframe connectors?
HelloI am working on installing the Comp. Engineering/Moroso roll bar (8-pt) in my 92 TSi. I have the bk seats, ft seats, carpet, sound deading, dash, center consol etc. all out of the car. 1st question: people that have done this cage before, does the main hoop sit on the floor with the...
lolCheck for leaking 90W out of the xfer case. drain/fill plugs There is a recall on it. Also, they are not 3g lifters as in 3rd Gen Ecilpse, they are 2g Revised lifters as in the 2nd Gen Eclipse's lifters in a revised form.
Get a long screwdriver. Put the metal end agaist the part(s) you think are causing the noise and put the handle against your ear. That should help you pin point where the sound is comming from. Also, that "tec" sound could be something in the head (dry lifters maybe) and when you give it gas...
Give me the wire colors on the plug attached to the harness (not the cut section) or refer to my post:http://dsmtuner.com/forums/showthread.php?t=233722&highlight=connectors
Hey guysI'm tearing down my motor. I yanked out the rear main and it had a ring that sat above the seal. Do I get a new ring when I buy a new seal? or should I keep it?
First off, I am from Arlington Heights WHAAAZUP? haha anyway
The likely hood of the timing belt skipping a destorying the motor is slim. I talked to my buddy at a body shop and he said he has never seen it happen. It is possible that the crash desroyed the timing cover, in which case, the...
That is possibly an SS Autochrome piece. A quick search on this forum, or any other tuner forum will render hundreds of negative comments about SS Autochrome. Even if it isn't a SSAC piece, it is still a cheep POS. Tubular manifolds that are made by reputable companies have a hard enough time...
Make sure your compressor is turning when you switch on your AC. There is a sensor that will shutdown your compressor when pressures in the line get too high to prevent the compressor from blowing. This sensor couild be bad. You condesor could be bad/clogged up with dirt and crap, the...
If you drag race alot, and if you AWD (which you don't have obviously with the N/T under hood) I would replace all 5 b/c I have seen people sheer studs at the track.
