Selling my turbo setup of my 99 GSX. This is a billet wheel HX40 with a T3 BEP .70 turbine housing. The Manifold is an ERL cast stainless steel T3. Turbo was just rebuilt less than 200 miles ago. I will include 3" intake along with the vband out downpipe for a 2g.For faster response text me...
I ran this in a 2.0 and liked it. It has more power up top than the Evo 3 I had in there previously. Spool was about 20psi at 4200 rpm with BC 272's. However, I did miss the way the 16g kicked in compared the 68hta.Engine spun a balance shaft bearings so this time a 2.3 is going in its place...
The crankwalk thing is overrated. I've got a revised 7 bolt making close to 600hp. This is also a built 2.3 stroker motor. I have at least 25 low 11 runs. Car runs perfect and gets daily driven to work during the summer and yes from time to time I get on it on the way to work. I also have a...
I've been running this turbo since late last year and hadn't seen much reviews on it since they changed over from the TD05H turbine wheel and the 8cm housing. I also get 20psi about 4100 rpm's on BC272 cams. I was expecting a little faster spool maybe like 3500-3800. However, once I turn this...
^^You can tune the 99 ECU. You can't run Ecmlink on a flashable ECU.OP, as for installing the 99 ECU in your 96 I bought a 1g CAM sensor and used that instead of the stock one on my 95. You can also switch to a stock 97-99 CAM sensor but that will require the cam to be drilled and tapped...
I was impressed with this turbo in the .55 ar housing. At 33psi on e85 it took my 2g full weight with 19" wheels down the 1/4 in 11.5. This winter its getting the head ported and slapping on the t3 .70 ar housing and my ERL manifold. Let's see what 40psi does.
Based on your description I would check the alternator fuse or the alternator itself. I had the same thing happen it turned out to be the fuse. Also make sure put a flash light on it because mine didn't burn out where it was visible. I learned that the hard way.
Great tuner and great person to work with. I've had two black box ECU tuned by him and my GSX tuned twice by him. I'm not familiar with the chip set up but as for the black box it was plug in the ECU and go. Of course, you need the tools to make sure everything is functioning correctly like it...
Go forged. If your rebuilding it you might as well spend the extra cash and get some good rods that are proven to handle the abuse. I was in the same position last year and decided to go with a 2.3 7 bolt and forged Manley rods and pistons. I also decided to go with the 4g64 crank and a Holset...
What gave you the impression the oil pump was failing? Knock, ticking noise or no oil pressure? Also do you have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge? I had a similar noise that sounded like rod knock when I first put my 2.3 stroker in the car. Mine turned out to be the AC belt making the noise...
Congrats on the dyno numbers! My1gdsm does an excellent job with tuning cars. He tuned my 2g about a month ago and I couldn't be happier with the results. Only problem I have now is I want to go faster and want more power. I don't know if there's an area where you are finally satisfied with how...
I thought I should put my results here since I finally took the car to the track.2.3 7 bolt 8.5:1 Manley pistons and rods with a 4g64 crank.
HX40 billet 7 blade on a BEP DSM bolt on housing @33psi on E85
Tial 38mm external of the O2 housing
The rest of the my mods are in my profile...
I'm glad I came across this. I've been looking at getting some of these wheels so I can get some drag radials but I was also worried about them holding up. What's the offset on the red 2g? They seem to really stick out.
I'm running an HX40 in a dsm bolt on housing with HKS 272's on a 2.3 and I see 20psi by 3900 RPM's. I know you'll be running a 2.0 so I would assume the spool would be slower but not by much. I rev it out to 7500 on stock valve train and so far no issues. I do wish I would have upgraded while...
I would start with doing a boost leak test. I like to charge things 10psi higher then what I run. If that comes up ok then I would look at making sure you have a clean fuel filter. I would replace it. Their cheap enough and easy to do.
Since you have established there is no spark in any of the four then you should check your wires, coil and plugs. If your check engine light is on that would be the first thing I check. I was having the same issue with no spark on my 99 GSX and when I checked the CEL it said right away it was my...
Both the 2.0 and the 2.3 have made good numbers on the dyno and the 1/4. It all depends on what you want. I drove my stock 7 bolt on an FP Green and I loved it but she ended up giving up on me so I decided to call Allen at SIM to build me a 2.3 with some 8.5:1 pistons and I'm not going to lie...
I don't know how set you are on taking it to this particular tuner but if you don't feel comfortable driving 150 miles I would contact a freelance tuner on this website. As long as you have access to your email they can fully tune your car or just send you off with a base tune to eliminate the...
I did the same thing to my 2g but probably not as good of a job as you did but I can definitely appreciate the hard work that goes into getting a car ready for paint. It's not easy by any means. With that said, the hard work paid off. Your car looks amazing. I love the color too. It's also...
I have a JMF SMIM on my car and a PR front mount and the TB elbow it came with had to be cut and re-welded in order for it to fit right. The position of the SMIM drops the TB lower than the stock intake. Lucky for me I have a 1g N/T TB so all I had to do was buy an extra pipe and a 45 degree...
Not having a MAF is a huge problem. That is how your ecu gets the information of how much airflow your seeing in order to adjust the fuel. Not having one will make your car run horrible or maybe not even run at all. Unless your running speed density you must absolutely have some sort of MAF...
Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. I would start out by checking for a boost leak and vacuum hoses. Also, check to make sure all your fluids are topped off and get an oil pressure gauge to make sure you have pressure. Don't want to be driving around without any as that will get...
I got a good deal on the turbo and it came with the BEP .55 hotside. I don't have any experience with the .70 AR but from what I've read it's better all around. I decided to keep it simple plus I already had a punishment external wastegate off the O2 so I wanted to keep that. I do plan on...
I just put together my 2.3 HX40 build. So far I've only done some idling time due to some oil leaks I found. But as soon as I get the leaks fixed I should be out driving it. I'm on 1250's with E85. Once it's all tuned I'll check back with more feedback but I have a feeling this thing is going to...
If your looking to modify the car and run more boost or bigger injectors your going to need to tune it. If you don't want to tune at all just do a stock rebuild and put in a T-25 and run stock boost. Getting the car tuned properly is going to be a big thing otherwise you will end up hating the...
Honestly, if you never plan on going beyond the 16g I would just do a stock rebuilt. It's going to be cheaper. But if you are really set on the forged internals I would start by checking out our supporting vendors on the site. They always have good deals going on or give them a call they will...
It all really depends on how much power you want to make. That will determine if you should stick with a stock bottom end. As for the cams, that all depends on the turbo too. The 272's will help with top end power. As for the tuning aspect of things, do you plan on running bigger injectors, more...
When it comes to these cars I would prefer to take it to someone who has a lot of experience with them. It gives me a the piece of mind that the person knows what they are doing. I would take it to ER.
I'm thinking about making the switch to E85 this winter and I'm not really sure how to get that tuned. Once I make the swtich I will post a log on here and see if I can get some feed back from you guys. Thanks
