Logging AEM Gauges on DSMlink 2g Baro input? (not WB)

Forgot to update this here, sorry:I got this working today. I did not try to run it on the baro input without removing resistor 39, so I didn't find the answer to my question of whether or not it would work without modification. Here is R39 removed, there was a fair amount of residue on the...

    Garage Build Thread (DSM Friendly)

The Talon hasn't been getting much love lately as I have been trying hard to ignore it so I can focus on getting the house going. Being a DSM guy, I know the old Talon needs more of a surgery hospital/rehab center than a storage area, so the plan is to build such a place. ;) It has been a long...

Anyone into custom PCs? Updated my rig!

It has been a long time since I built one of these, but something about being snowed in and the sub-zero temperatures has made me more or less not give a d**m about the Talon or my other cars.I decided to dust off the old rig in December and unfortunately discovered the Steam holiday...

    The "Real" Talon Simulator

Strange to see this pop back up, it has been a while. Not very much. The G25 wheel from Logitech is about $250 if I remember correctly. The only other piece that was more than $50 was the carpet.I mostly used this for GT5, but it worked good with any sim-type racer game. Most of the...

FP JB Black Install & First Impressions

^Not sure what fan you are referring to. The leak is fixed with the new seat; at least on first start there is zero leakage. Still a little too nasty here to take it out and try the 24psi triple spring setup.

FP JB Black Install & First Impressions

Not at all on a converter that locks up at 5500rpm. First, as it slips the rpm rises a lot faster than the turbo can fill the motor. Second, an auto loads up a lot different so spool numbers will be a lot different than with a manual. The fact that I can get up to 20psi at 4000rpm says a lot for...

    Turbosmart Ultra-Gate 38

My 2.4 Build for my '97 Talon

Quick update on the FP Black / Turbosmart WG: Boost control was good, but oscillated a bit (about 1 psi), but shortly after installing it the gate started to leak at idle out the dump tube. I pulled it and could see where it wasn't sealing on the seat so I sent it back in.I just got off the...

I have documented my 2.4 build pretty well here:http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/dsm-build-journals/389989-my-2-4-build-my-97-talon.htmlRegarding piston side loading issues, I have about 14,000 miles on this setup now and all but a couple thousand were on E85 and were mostly out ripping...

Nice fat powerband, congrats! I am sure it is a fun car to drive. Pretty easy to get too caught up in numbers. Reliability and DSM shouldn't be used in the same sentance, but it is nice when you know there is some margin. ;)The link/IR boost control is great by the way, not sure what you are...

Tire pressure for snowy/icy commute on Blizzak REV01s?

FP JB Black Install & First Impressions

Well, winter finally hit hard so the Talon is nestled away for a bit. Thanksgiving weekend weather was great so I romped on it as much as possible. The Evo with snow/ice tires is a blast though, so I am still getting my "fix".As usual there is always that urge to push it a little more if...

What brand/weight oil are you running?

Built 10:1 2.4: Valvoline VR-1 Synthetic 20w50 always. About 14,000 hard miles on it now almost all of them with E85. Most of the time I'm driving I am out making pulls and thrashing on it. It gets changed very often and rarely goes more than 1,000 miles without an oil change. I buy 6-10 cases...

Thanks! :thumb:With the 2.4, ~10:1, and E85 I would say it is very streetable. You don't want to get caught in a stoplight race at idle in an auto though! ROFLThe two spool videos in the links above show how the power comes on pretty well. It hits very hard rolling in 1st almost like...

Snow Tire Review - Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2

I recently moved back to Montana, so I expected snow/ice to be part of life again, unfortunately. I initially planned to drive the old suburban when conditions were poor, but the Evo seemed built for this and I'd rather enjoy it year-round rather than shutter it up over the winter...

Launch, Flyby & Spool - FP JB Black Videos

Nothing special, I just pump the brakes once or twice and push. I only have 6-8" of idle vacuum, but it works. Timing comes down fast as it spools so that helps. I am using some metallic parts-store pads. I can hold it higher, but it blows the tires off at 18psi. This has been a good converter...

    FP Black Comparison

Hey Shodan; just an observation, I wasn't intending to imply that it affected performance. Thanks, Chris. It is noteable that the 256 has a much larger turbine wheel, which probably helps in the "smaller" housing. I updated the results thread in this section and it is rippin at 27psi.
  29. VETDRMS

FP JB Black Install & First Impressions

With a little more testing the spool is actually quite good and I can launch at a higher boost level and rpm than the tires will hold. Didn't have an issue brake-stalling to 4000rpm and 18psi and it blew the tires off all the way to about 45mph.Up top this thing is really shining compared...

    Drag Build

Great build man, keep up the good work. I'm curious to see how the S259 works for you. I have had good results with the S256 in a bolt on housing but was considering sending it in to upgrade to the billet S259 wheel and T3 housing.

    2G how to identify a 4g64 swap?

It depends on how complete of a swap they did. If they used the 4G63 timing cover you will see a small gap between the lower and middle cover. The deck of the 4G64 is 6mm taller. You can also check the stamp on the front of the motor.
