sounds like you got a huge leak. I had one of those, although it was relatively easy to find because of the rush of air coming out of the leaks. When you say you push 20 psi in are you talking about setting the line pressure on a big compressor to 20 psi or the guage on one fo the bike pump...

1. - Find a new mechanic. Right now. (our cars do have lifters). Unless its a 420a (N/T) in which case look into whether or not they have lifters. I'm pretty sure they still do.2. What does the sound sound like? Is it throwing a code or making a ticking noise? Where does the noise come from...

No offense man, but cheap and 300hp do not go together with a 420a motor. Either sell it and get a 1g like the others said or just save your money until you can afford one of those turbo kits for it. I would say a good nitrous system might get you to your goal but I have seen way to many 420a's...

Not true. I have a 190 and I definetely have overrun until 5500 rpm until it cleans up. It makes a huge difference too, its like having a second boost. Makes my part throttle tuning a nightmare.

So they disconnected the KAr wire? Isn't that what the SAFC modifies so you can make your fuel corrections? I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that is the one. I would start llooking over your safc to ecu connections and see what exactly they changed.

Yeah, but bench pressing the tranny is never a fun thing to do. I'm sure with a tranny jack it would be much more forgiving.

Maybe rebleed the system and try adjusting the clutch pedal. I'm just taking a stab in the dark here but I would try those before going through the whole process of taking the tranny out again. That was a royal PITA.
