  1. Convertible 1G!!! ( only if you can handle it )

http://www.jumptronix.com/2g_go_faster/index.htm Go to the "Look Faster" section Check out this pimp ride  Just thought I would share my early morning discovery w/ everyone. Bobo the slapping monkey says enjoy :thumb:
  2. evo16 or 18g?

The Evo 16G is a great turbo for the price. The difference in performance between the two turbo's does not warrant the price difference. Stick with the Evo turbo.
  3. comp cams

Its been explained way too much already. Here's a few threads to read through if anyone cares to know:http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=980&perpage=25&pagenumber=2 http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11758&highlight=cam+degreeingEnjoy,Groomz
  4. Mbc

They are not all the same. You get what you pay for. Also many people experience boost creep/spike to varying degree's with cheaper MBC's. EBC's typically cure any problems an MBC is not solving.-Groomz
  5. comp cams

Someone had to bite. :laugh:Any camshaft will benefit ( produce more power ) after being degreed. Some cams need it done simply to work properly. There are some morons who would like to think just because HKS makes a great camshaft, it doesn't benefit from degreeing. But I can't listen to...
  6. will EVO III turbo be enough

How are you going to race him from a roll at the drag strip?-Groomz
  7. Do they make an aftermarket free flowing

Greddy Evo is quiet from what I've heard. Nothing can be quieter than stock, unless you want a restricted free flowing exhaust using a silencer.-Groomz
  8. comp cams

To avoid any confusion, all camshafts, stock or aftermarket, need to be degreed. Even HKS. So before anyone says to jump on the HKS bandwagon, just remember that it is necessary. Also HKS 272 exhaust bumpsticks are on backorder. You guys with the Comp Cams should head over the the Tech Articles...
  9. Project Goodwill Update - 11.83 FWD 14b

Your car is a daily driver though. Nonetheless its an incredible accomplishment. Congrats.I also read in a Ford magazine about a Foxbody 5.0 running 9's for under 5K including the car. Turbo power of course.-Groomz
  10. Dyno tune yesterday

You must have some pretty high standards! ;)Those are great numbers to be putting down with those mods. I have seen many people on this board with much more in their setup and are seeing much lower numbers than that. And you are AWD! But there's no reason to stop there.Crank horsepower...
  11. 14b/ in 2g, blue tops, fmic - hp gain?

Welcome to the world of real performance. A 4G63 motor is an incredible piece of work. There are many people on this site alone that run 20+psi and put down over 300whp daily, and the motor lasts. Most Honda turbo kits have disclaimers reading that constant high speed/boosted driving should be...
  12. is my cat cloged?

This is completely anecdotal, but I would believe that burning oil will take much longer to burn out a catalytic converter than running incredibly rich. In other words, its not nearly as bad for it as running too rich. Just look on the bright side, now its time for a motor buildup. :D-Groomz
  13. EvoIII 16G + 34mm Flapper Mod?

I would recommend Forced Performance. Buschur is also a reputable shop. Not to knock on SBR, but many people who order their 16G's with porting experience some degree of creep, while all of the FP 16G owners I have asked experience zero creep. You get what you pay for basically. I only know this...
  14. SlowBoy Racing 20g?

Just on a side note, it looks like the fuel is getting super rich right between 4.5-5.5k . Have you tuned that out yet and been back to the dyno?
  15. EvoIII 16G + 34mm Flapper Mod?

    Interesting indeed....-Groomz
  16. EvoIII 16G + 34mm Flapper Mod?

The 34mm flapper would not be necessary if the porting were done correctly. Most DIY jobs are poorly done and some shops selling them are just giving them a one over with a 180 grit sander. Wrong is such a strong word. :p-Groomz
  17. is my cat cloged?

Unless its a loud obnoxious popping sound, I wouldn't worry. The only way a cat can be clogged is from raw fuel/super rich mixture being dumped into it. Just fill up with the right grade gas and enjoy the performance the previous owner was missing. Also Look into some Xylene/Toluene for a little...
  18. EvoIII 16G + 34mm Flapper Mod?

Exception may be a poor word choice, how about pioneer? I have certainly regained faith in MHI and the 16G's from your results. Most people slap on a 16G and say they are disappointed after a few days. The turbo is only one part, you have to build a complete setup! An important part, but not the...
  19. Rev matching, double clutching, heel and toe

Double clutching is only necessary for non-synchronizer equipped trannies or ones that are worn out completely.-Groomz
  20. EvoIII 16G + 34mm Flapper Mod?

I prefer to see you as an exemption to the rule. Not many other DSM'ers are flowing that amount on the Evo III. Excellent results no doubt, but any turbo can be pushed past its designed flow rating. Better have one hell of an intercooler at those outlet temps too.-Groomz
  21. first time at track this year

  22. first time at track this year

1.6's yes, 1.9-2.0's no. And no one mentioned 1.6's, only sub 2.0's. Search search search.-Groomz
  23. first time at track this year

Like you mentioned a boost leak is definitely there. Before racing any car it must be in pefect condition. New plugs, wires, filters etc... . Also your clutch is tired and old. Drag racing will destroy it quickly. New polyurethane motor mounts, tower brace, lowered front suspension and any type...
  24. EvoIII 16G + 34mm Flapper Mod?

If the concern is for running high boost ( 23-25+psi ) then you should not be running any 16G variant. Get the 34mm flapper mod, it is necessary to fix the flaws in the design from our good friends at MHI.-Groomz
  25. 600+ hp

    x2-Groomz
  26. first time at the dyno!!!!

At sea level a stock dsm should put down around 170whp. AWD maybe be a little less on an AWD dyno. FWD drivetrain loss is around 19%.-Groomz
  27. Kevlar Timing Belts

    Bingo. :thumb:-Groomz
  28. Is FWD worth modding???

People who make broad generalizations typically don't know what they are talking about. ;)Its also very difficult to tell where someone is getting their information. Some of us actually race our cars while others spend time racing their mouths. To each his own.-Groomz
  29. Synthetic Oil [merged]

Nothing new under the sun? :pMaybe you need a vacation. These forums can get pretty repetitive. :D-Groomz
  30. 14b blown.. Recommendations for 400fwhp setup?

Any T3/T4 50 trim turbo will do for 400whp. The Evo III with never get close to 400whp.Any FMIC will work. 750-850cc/min will be required with an Aeromotive FPR. No B&M risers unless you want to be a ricer. ;)-Groomz
  31. Is FWD worth modding???

I like the way you think. Apples to oranges I say. I can't imagine those blown Cobra boys have a good time when they go WOT ( traction wise ). Supra's for that matter, or whatever else. I had an AWD and it died, now I have a FWD ( only DSM for sale when I needed one :p ). Like them both alot. I...
  32. I Need A JDM Engine ! Anyone Know OF Good Site?

www.osakajdmmotors.comThe JDM motor is a great/cheap performance buy for the money. The fact that the Cyclone manifold can be made to work easily ( check the Tech Articles ) and is just as strong as the USDM version, I don't see why not. I plan to swap one in. 7.8:1 pistons, big rods, strong...
  33. Crankshaft Alignment Kit experience?

How can it be done? I certainly believe it can be, but have no idea/experience with it.:thumb:-Groomz
  34. Synthetic Oil [merged]

You are a moron. If you want to actually break your motor in correctly, do this instead. Fill up with 10W-30 dino oil and any filter. Go out to a secluded area with no traffic/cops. Have the car in 3rd at 30mph and apply around 75% throttle ( no WOT ) or around/below 10psi of boost. Run the...
  35. Crankshaft Alignment Kit experience?

I've only worked on 1G motors. Does the 2G 4G63 have a seperate main cap for the thrust bearing or is a complete girdle assembly? If it is, then you cannot do the swap. Any one know?-Groomz
  36. Crankshaft Alignment Kit experience?

Its certainly a shady quick fix. Nothing bad can come from swapping out a toasted thrust bearing for a new one. If it gets me a couple more thousand miles before I have to make a swap, then I'll do it. Remember also that Mitsu made the thrust clearances very tight. Too tight from talking to...
  37. bpr7es plugs am I ready??

I would agree. Stock boost is around 10-11psi, so running at around 15psi or above with standard BPU's would benefit from the 7ES's. Just remember that if you plan to run high boost at the track, just swap in new plugs for the strip. Its a 2 minute swap. I do love DOHC. Took me 4 hours to swap 8...
  38. Unknown actuator on 1G JDM intake

I am lost for words. No one has bashed it yet! I feel so good now. Go read my article. It helps with spool up, gas mileage and is just a cool little gizmo. And were all into that here on Tuners. :p-Groomz
  39. Is FWD worth modding???

Can I get a halleluia!!:pI really like the arguement that why not get AWD instead? If I were buying a car for a pure drag machine, I wouldn't even think Japanese. I would get a Foxbody mustang, turbocharge it and run a drag suspension. Stripped and driven hard, you can easily be in the...
  40. JDM Used Engine, or Rebuild???

Ur wrowng man! RACE MOTOR all the shiggity way.>!>!.1>!:rolleyes:j/kJDM is a great way to go, either on a budget or looking for a strong motor. For the price they are usually the best deal around, and being a turn-key motor, alot of hassle is taken away. No finding parts or getting...
  41. Evo!

Manual windows weigh less. Cost less. Unless of course you need to drive around in a parking lot and roll down your window to talk shit to other ricers. ;)-Groomz
  42. Evo!

  43. Synthetic Oil [merged]

Run regular 10W-30 dino oil for 500 miles. Change it and the filter. Run dino oil for another 1000-1500 miles and change it again with whatever you want. Synthetic or dino oil. It doesn't matter, they both protect at a level beyond what the engine needs.-Groomz
  44. PTE GT turbos

    :thumb:-Groomz
  45. Overheating with front mount intercooler

A reverse mounted scoop of any kind will work well to pull air out of the engine bay. If you feel like hacking the stock hood and slapping one on, the benefits could be very good. I've seen a couple high power road race DSM's running these types of scoops, so I would think it works well.-Groomz
  46. Help with Turbo kit questions

Never go into debt for your car unless you have to.Its too easy to take the loan and start buying things. Gets out of control fast. Just keep your eyes peeled for a cheap 1G. Even a cheap 5.slow will get you places down a race track for not alot of green.-Groomz
  47. Overheating with front mount intercooler

Shimming the hood mounting hardware to raise it slightly off the cowl would help airflow.-Groomz
  48. Crankshaft Alignment Kit experience?

    Spending money is tough.
  49. the evo3 boost creep continues

Not all port jobs are the same. You get what you pay for. FP charges 95$, SBR charges 50$.-Groomz
  50. Injen Intake

Venting to the atmosphere is not a merit badge you can wear with pride. Every time you shift way too much extra fuel is dumped into the intake, which washes oil off the cylinder walls and comes out the tailpipe in a black cloud. You can vent with a VPC/speed density/MAFT setup, but stock venting...
