I noticed mine had walked from the inside of the gears (where it's been since my rebuild 2.5 years ago) to the outside edge over the course of a month or two. Then bam, my idler pulley broke off. Luckily it got jammed between the motor mount and head and kept tension on the belt so nothing...
Yeah I've got an SFMU + 450s setup right now. I had the boost at 15-16psi without any problems. I had my idle fuel pressure somewhere around 18-20, but I had to run a larger return line in order to get it that low (the lowest I could get with the stock return system was like 40psi).
I will no longer be using the pre-release P&P unit... Won't work on my 95. I don't have the time anymore to bother trying to wire up some sort of adapter, so it's time to let someone else give it a shot. Maybe I'll head in the regular MSnS direction, or wait for the 95 style P&P if it's...
wow.... ridiculous. Reading at the beginning was bad enough, I didn't bother with the rest.I just have to laugh at the story of you spinning through 3rd or 4th or whatever. Especially after watching your video. I dyno'd like 115whp NA, and I could only chirp the tires going into second with...
Thanks for the help guys. Like I said I will look into the coolant temp sensor, especially if I keep having problems. But today I started it just fine and it was freezing cold outside. Seems to be back to normal... I don't understand what the issue was but I appreciate your help.
Hmm coolant temp sensor? I can look into it. Why does it cause it to add more fuel though?Anyway, I showed it who's boss! lol. Got it running, finallly. After my last post where it was kinda starting to fire up when I cut all fuel, but dying when I plugged the fuel pump back in, I...
Ok tried something new. Took the plugs and coil pack back off. Unplugged the fuel pump harness. Cranked it like that to clear any fuel/crap out of the cylinders.Put the old coil pack back on, cleaned all the plugs thuroughly, and set them all on the valve cover. (it's dark outside)...
Fuel pump is fine, supplying same fuel pressure as usual. Not sure how to really check and see if the ECU is working properly... everything seems to be working as it usually would aside from the car not firing up.I want to check compression but I don't have a compression tester. I have...
It won't run consistently and reliably to save its life either, but that's beside the point right now.I can't get my car to start no matter what I try. I have fuel, I have spark, I turns over when I crank it, it just won't fire up.No one seems to read the problem diagnosis threads so...
EDITed the original post to update the story. This post doesn't matter now. WeeeeeStarter is turning the engine over just fine...
Plenty of fuel, I can smell it and see it...
I watched the plugs spark, new plugs, wires, and coil...
No shortage of air...How does air + fuel + spark +...
Car - 95 420a Turbo'd. See profile for the extent of my modifications/parts.Original problem - car had been running poorly for the past couple weeks... misfiring pretty bad as soon as I hit boost or any time the RPMs got above 4k (even without boost), and it would bog or misfire when...
yes you can use it. I ran a P&P head with crane 14s for a little over a year NA without any problems. Maybe you lose a little low end torque but gain a little power up top, I don't know, but you'll be fine.
Paul please verify lolOn a side note... as soon as I get my damn injectors everything else is finally done so I'll be able to plug MS in and start tooning. I think I got scammed on my 880s I just bought.. and sadly it was a 4G63 guy. Bought them a month ago, nothing ever came, never a...
I'm running a modified 97 rail right now. The supply side is stock though, it's the return side (well, the test port) that has a -6AN for my return to the FPR. I'll be looking into this though, might as well replace the supply line + filter while I'm installing my 880s.
wow Ryan... I just looked through that old thread of mine you linked. What a disappointment. Can't wait to redeem myself on my next trip to the dyno. Hopefully double that with a safe AFR.
I'll just throw a little bump into this thread lol.+1 to what Ryan said about the 12:1 at 8psi demanding pressures in excess of what the 255 is capable of producing. I had that problem with leaning out on the 12:1.+1 to the other advice you have already gotten.I just wanted to throw...
- You will need a Walbro 255 liter/hour High-Pressure fuel pump. They aren't expensive, and install is very easy.- Also a 1:1 adjustable fuel pressure regulator, Aeromotive is a great choice but there are other brands too.- Large injectors, as stated above already (with resistor pack...
By "4g" I'm assuming you mean stock 4G63 injectors, which are 450cc. If you were to use those you will need to wire in a resistor box to run them, but that is simple and also can be had off a 4G63.For your goals, similar to mine, I would recommend larger injectors though. I was planning at...
Mark where would you estimate the cutoff to be before you need a second fuel pump?I've got my Walbro 255 HP and I'll be installing PTE 880s with my MSnS as soon as the UPS man shows up... been waiting on these injectors for a while now...Anyway I plan to run 20-25psi, hope to be in the...
haha that was just having fun. I have had it out in the dry and it still blows the tires off through 1st and 2nd and sometimes 3rd even with 245s. 880s and MSnS goes on next now.
Not the best video... obviously with the poor resolution and green screen covering half of it. It was perfectly fine on my computer after editing, but when I uploaded to youtube it got distorted. Oh well, you get the idea. This is right after I finished installing my 60-1 and welding my...
Oh I take pictures of everything lol. I'll post the good ones. I guess I'll start a different thread for my project though... doesn't make sense since this one's titled "turbo flanges" lol.
I made some calls - unfortunately the 2.5" and 3" do not have compatable flange sizes / bolt patterns. I was hoping both had the bolts in the same locations on the 4-bolt flanges, just with different diameter holes in the middle, but it couldn't be that easy haha. So I got a 2.5"-3" flare and...
Hey guys... haven't been as active on here lately, work is extremely busy and I've just been sourcing parts. But I finally have just about everything ready to go but need a last minute question answered. My turbine outlet is 2.5", but I'm building myself a full custom 3" exhaust. When it...
I will be updating soon.... I ran into some problems with my car... My new turbo + 1:1 afpr + bigger injectors + materials to make my custom 3" exhaust should all have been here by now. A couple parts are still missing. Soon enough I'll have everything back together and be playing with the...
Yeah I'd go with brass hose-barb tees from any hardware store. Just make sure you measure your hose size for the correct barb fitting size. That's assuming you're just using regular rubber or silicone hose, not stainless with AN fittings. And if the water inlet and outlet ports aren't...
I wouldn't... because then you'll have no heat. I personally can deal with no AC because I'd rather have the windows down, but I'd never give up my ability to heat my air... winter is cold.Just tee into it at both locations.
Um, I've only run oil cooled turbos thus far. But I would suggest tapping into the rubber hose sections of your heater core lines. If I can find one of my engine bay pics that's easy to PS I'll show you...
Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong... but I'm pretty sure your stock FPR is back by the tank, and you have a single fuel line going to the driver's side of your fuel rail. Your only other option besides mounting your FMU back there would be to run a return line all the way from your test...
Hey Randy, good idea. I've been running that turbo for... about 7 months, but I bought it used from another member on 2GNT. No telling if Turbonetics would offer to rebuild or replace it if I'm not even the original owner, but you're right it's worth a shot. Only takes a minute to call to...
Damn that's pretty crazy. But nah I've taken mine apart already... There's some slight damage to the blades on the compressor wheel, and the scraped up compressor housing that you can see in the pics, but that's pretty much it.
The 1/8th refers to the NPT adapter though, which is closer to 1/4" hose size. Don't know why I put "1/8 AN" on that diagram lol no such thing. Someone chime in if I'm wrong but 1/8NPT, -4AN, and 1/4" barb are all about the same size hose fittings right?EDIT: you know what... I'm...
I'll go ahead and give a +MF1 to Ryan up there. It's been discussed time and time again. The GST would cost more, insurance is higher because it's factory turbocharged, and the benefits just aren't there plain and simple. A 420a can be just as strong, just as fast, just as powerful as a GST...
Umm... You don't NEED to take the cross member off. It would definitely make it easier, but when I swapped my stock pan for my tapped (turbo oil return) pan I left the cross member in place. There's just like 2 or 3 bolts that are tough to reach and see what you're doing with, but if you have...
