Might come up for a day. What's a good day for spectators? Thinking sunday might be my only option but not sure if there's gonna be a lot of action going on.
Hey everyone, been a while since I last posted. Looking to get back into the game and came across a 95 GSX. Main issue i'm seeing is some strut tower rust. I'm not too experienced in body work, so I wanted some opinions on the rust. Need to know whether this is fixable or if I should walk away...
Im doing the 5th gear fix on my tranny, and I need to know how much to torque the cover bolts to...i dont wanna crack to cover by making it too tight. Both my 1g and 2g haynes manuals dont have this info. Thanks!
The problem is the Random Misfire code which results from the 6bolt swap. The solution is to check that box to disable it. There is no better way to fix that problem. And for the price DSMlink is a hell of a deal. Look at the price of AEM EMS, and that isn't even specialized for dsm's.
Well obviously. But the point of threads like these and this website is to point out misinformation and give people good info on these cars. If you think that tapping from the OFH is a bad idea then I would love to hear more info about it from you, because you seem to know what you're talking...
This is interesting. Are you saying that tapping off the OFH can cause premature turbo failure? I know RRE and many others sell the kits to do just that.
Well some people see it as justified. It's the same reason alot of us will buy NGK plugs over Iridium, or the reason you bought a DSM instead of a Porsche. We all know the MHI turbos are better quality, but for 50% of the cost, the ebay special starts to look good.
The debate is not whether these companies are ripping off designs, but whether or not the drop in quality is worth the money saved.jusmx141 says that he see's these things die all the time, and I believe him, but for half the price, is it worth the risk? I've seen this go both ways dozens...
Wow. You sound like my grandpa making fun of import cars. THEM GOSH DERN RICEBURNERS AND THEIR CHINESE METAL. Ha. Let me guess, you're the kind of person that thinks that all of their products are made in America, right?
Why do people still talk bad about these ebay turbos? Has everyone already forgotten about threads like these:http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/273004-funny-situation-i-have-real-evo3-turbo-ebay-16g-turbo.html...
This is just incorrect. How could a front mount "take away boost"? Your boost is set to a particular psi, it has nothing to do with how much space the pressurized air needs to fill.
Do it once and do it right. I'd go with the SSAC FMIC, proven time and again to be the most bang for your buck. Don't waste your time and money by buying a bigger SMIC and then upgrading. And all this talk about spool time and lag is nonsense, you aren't going to notice a difference with more...
Your post is very confusing... specifically:"i had the motor on a fwd before i went awd"Do you mean you swapped in an engine from a GST?Most likely you have the wrong flywheel on, and it is not making contact with the starter. AWD tranny requires the AWD flywheel.
You don't need to swap pins to get it to run correctly, so don't worry about that right now. Sounds like it might be a timing issue. You can't just set the CAS in the center, you have to get a timing light and actually set the timing. I'd start with that.EDIT: You already swapped the pins...
This is caused by the random misfire code because you are 6bolt swapped. This is a very common problem with the swap. To fix it, you need to have dsmlink and check the "disable random misfire" option, or get a keydriver chip with this option. Here is more info for you...
I'd hunt down a harness, or chop that part off of a junkyard car and splice it in. A good soldier job will do fine. As far as hoses, take in whatever is left and auto zone will be able to give you the appropriate sizes.
Into the water pipe. 1g and 2g turbo water pipes are different. And this whole setup, this is the old way to do the 6bolt swap. RRE used to do this before the CAS trick was found. The reason most people don't do it is because it is a bi*** to drill out all the appropriate spots to make it all...
I used their 6bolt longblock when I did my swap. I was happy with everything, and everything was as described and correct. Now they have this drop in 6bolt setup, it costs more, but save a bunch of headaches.Do a search on KarKing, they have been discussed many many times.
I bought the ebay kit for my 02 Explorer. The rotors are nice, seem to be good quality, but the pads are junk. They say specifically that they are made to not squeal, but i'm a few months in and they are squealing a bit when coming to a slow stop.
There are like a billion 6 bolt swap threads. Just search. I probably made a few of them when I did mine. As far as the wiring, you can just buy a premade cable from magnus or RRE
You can't just put in higher flowing injectors without tuning it. The ECU thinks they are still 450's and opens them accordingly, resulting in the car running too rich. You need to compensate with dsmlink, a chip, or an afc. Or any other tuning device.Bigger fuel pumps do not need to be...
