This same thing happened to me when I was working on the passenger side. I ruined the threads in the hole and ended up having to take it to the shop anyway, but only 1 bolt snapped and I was able to gingerly drive the car to the shop. I am not going to attempt to drill it out myself or drive the...
Okay I snapped both of the chassis bolts holding on the compression control arm. So the remaining shaft is going to have to be drilled out. Currently the car is still in the air with the wheel off. I'm a bit nervous to put the wheel back on and lower the car down. Will the lateral control arm...
I need a brake dust shield. I bought one from the dealership about a year ago, cost me 20-25 bucks. I call today they want 50bucks for this piece of tin. Does anyone know where else I could find this part. I thought about posting a WTB but who would have one of these that's not rusted to heck...
Thanks guys for all the info. I'll keep you updated and I'll be sure to mark it resolved when I'm done.Hey guys quick side question. Does anyone know of a way to pop the ball joints without using that dang fork. I split every boot last time I did this. I thought I could use that autozone ball...
Ok so with the intermediate shaft bolts removed. I can simply pull out the entire axle and shaft assembly? There is no way to leave the shaft in place and just remove the axle on my 2g GSX. Sorry I didn't state that before.
I'm sure this is a noob question, but I searched and couldn't find an answer. I'm changing the hub but of course if rust welded onto the axle, so the whole steering knuckle has to come off an I have to have the axle cut off just like I did on the passenger side. My question is does the...
Hey thanks guys for the quick in info. Ok I just missed a bolt. Remove that an the dp will separate from the manifold. Don't worry about that clamp right?
Dang thanks widow. I was hoping that, that wouldn't be the case b/c I live in Buffalo (the land of the snow) an those nuts are really rusty and are most likely going to break and if that happens I'm going to need a new exhaust and I not ready to do that yet. but Thanks
Hey guys, I'm trying to change the driver side cv axle on my 95 gsx 5spd. I would like to remove the cv without removing the intermediate shaft, if that is possible. However I don't think that is the proper way to do this so I will remove the whole assembly. The problem that I'm having is...
Got it..... thanks a bunch guys, and thanks for the info on the rotors too.hey guys....does anyone know the size for the bolt that connect the compression arm to the car. I seached and couldn't find the info.
Thanks
Hey guys....I went to autozone to get that curved loweer control arm. All they had was the control arms for the 2-wheel drive or the RS model. Now I have a 95GSX will this part fit my car? I know that if it doesn't say that it is for my model car I shouldn't buy it. However my GSX has vented...
Took me a little bit to get back to work on the car but I think (HOPE) it's fixed. I changed the biss and adjusted it so the car idles around 900 and it's holding there.
Thanks,,,,, 90 DSM
Really sorry about this dumb question.
I ordered a biss from the dealer and it didn't come with the o-ring. I ordered one before and it came with the o-ring. So they want 5bucks for it and another 3days to get the o-ring. (the screw was only 3bucks)
Can i just go to homedepot or autozone an...
I had to use one of those screw out tool that you put on the end of a drill b/c the head was rounded out, but it had enough bite to pull it out.(why would they make that screw out of plastic...dumb)
Gotcha...I let you know how things turn out thanks again.
Let me ask also is there anything special that i should know when removing the TB? Seems kinda straight forward. remove the air cleaner assembly, disconnect the IAC and TPS electrical connections and remove the four TB mounting bolts. DONE?
I'll look to see if i can find the manual online. I dropped some ngk's in yesterday. didn't change the wires b/c they look like there in good shape and I don't want to start changing things that don't need to be changed. Thanks
Hi Guy....
I've done all the research and I'm about to get to work. I've never done this kind of engine work. so that's why I'm posting before I have really done any work (don't want to screw things up to bad).
Here's the problem: When the engine is cold and i start the car. it idle fine, but...
Oh I see. Lucky and didn't know it. Story of my life. So in that case I'm more then likely going to run into issues with brake pad fitment? Well I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Thanks alot you were a big help.
Ok, the vented rotors on the car don't look that bad, so I think i'm going to have them turned and return these solid ones. I'd rather keep the vented ones b/c they dissipate heat better right?
Hey guys, does anyone know FOR SURE if the 95 gsx with a build date of 10/94 has solid or vented rear rotors? or does it matter? I ask because I bought some rotor at Pep boys last night and the were solid. I just took the rear wheel off and the rotors on there are vented. Did I buy the wrong...
Hey guys really sorry if this is a repost but I've been searching for a hour and I'm kinda tired from fighting with all these rusty bolt on my car.
So, I change the axle, upper ball joint with that $30 fix i found on here (kinda sweet), tie rod end and both lower control arms. But I can't get...
Hey guys, the shaft on my upper control arm ball joint snapped when i was removing the nut. Can that ball joint be replace or do i have to buy a new upper control arm. My car is a 95 gsx and it the passenger side.
Thanks
Thanks for the info on the control arm. I'll get to that after i get the axle out. I kinda figured that also when i crawled under the car. Thing was I had to go buy a shorter prybar.
Thanks again
Ok guys I popped the lower ball joints and the tie rod end but the shaft on the upper control arm broke when I was trying to get the nut off does that mean I need a new upper control arm or can that joint be replaced... However Im ready to pull the the axle and spindle. Now do I just yank the...
Ok, so it sounds like the only specail tool needed to remove the axle/kunkle is a pickle fork and a prybar? Also this is the first time im pulling an axle. is there any seals or anything that would need to be replaced. Nothing is leaking on the car now but im sure im gona loose some tranny...
Thanks lots guys, Unfortunately I don't have and I'm unable to get access to an oxy-acetylene torch. So before I start unbolting everything and cutting the axle I'm going to see if i can get a descent price on a new axle $65 bucks aint bad to save whats left of my sanity. Thanks again
My bad, Im working on the front passenger side, and thanks I didn't think the axle would pull threw the spindle so I 'm going to remove the spindle and the axle as a unit and try a press first, If that doesn't do it I guess it time to eat the cost for a new axle.
This is alot of heck to go...
Hey guys, my hub/bearing is frozen to the axle and won't come off. I tried everything that everyone else on here has tried/ Map gas heat, PB blaster, heavy duty puller, impact gun, and sledge hammer, all to no avail. I haven't ruined the axle yet so this is my last ditch effort. I want to remove...
Ok guys I got all the hub bolts out without separating the ball joints, and i have my puller in place. So my dumb question this time is, does the brake dust shield hold the hub on in any way?Ok forget the last question. I got the hub out of the spindle but its still holding on to the axle...
Thanks, but the thing is Im not trying to remove the axle just the hub and my issue is that I don't have enough clearance to get the hub bolts out. However it does seem like you shouldn't have to undo the ball joints or the tie rod to get to the hub bolts. Shouldn't the axle be able to up back...
I got a puller. But i have to separate the ball joint so i can get enough space to get the hub bolt off. any idea on the size of the ball joint nuts? Thanks
Ok so i'm change the front passenger side wheel bearing on my 95 GSX. Anyone know what size the to lower ball joint nuts are? Dumb question, i know, but my manual doesn't say, nor the forums and the biggest wrench i have is a 19mm and it doesn't fit, :idontknow:so i have to go buy a wrench...
Hey Guys quick question. Does any know what size the lower ball joint nuts are on 2g Gsx? I'm changing the wheel bearing. Sorry for thread jacking and thanks
I know the guys at Innovative Tuning, and your correct they are steep. They quoted me close to $800 part/labor. If I had the cash I would go to them because they're that good. However the Dealer quoted me like $400 part/labor but no water pump and charge $250 for one but, I feel like that's how...
Hey guys,
I'm looking for a repair shop or someone how can do a timing belt job for me in buffalo,NY. the timing belt has not broken but the power steering belt is sliding on the pulley and I'm at 51k so I figure to replace all the belts and what ever else need to be changed, water pump...
Thanks for the tips. So to test the front O2 sensor can I use a multi-volt meter to check for the voltage, also were should I place the black and red prongs? (not really an electrical guy)
They all look the part. I need to change the cat because I can here the exhaust leak. Plus would a bad converter throw the O2 out of wack. How do you test to see if the front O2 sensor is bad or is it one of those shot in the dark things and just change it?eBay Motors: 95-99 Talon Eclipse...
Hi Guys, my cat has a hole in it and I'm getting really poor gas mileage (190 a tank). My O2 sensors maybe bad as well but fix what I know is broken first. are these ebay converters and good and will they bolt on to the stock 2g GSX exhaust?
Trying to go really cheap.
Thanks
