Had a line blow off the oil cooler last night at 2am... Was near work so went and got a few tools and fixed it in the pouring rain in a parking lot... Go life...
LOL Neutral dropping... Oh how that brings back memories of total idiots...Back in high school there was this guy who claimed he pulled wheelies with his jeep al the time. Neutral dropped that thing from the rev limiter... God awful sound... Shattered tranny all over the parking lot...
Use a center punch or something like it and a hammer and tap it into the hole since it's already lined up some. That'll force it backwards and into position. Then just pull your punch out and put your bolt in.
My vote is also for a new OEM one... Do not go with the topline ones. I had a brand new topline one seize up in a new motor and it caused hell for me... :(
Black/tan combo does look good Black Widow97...I just got a new black interior yesterday for a pretty good deal... I just wasn't quite satisfied with my painted and dyed black interior that I have now... It'll be fun to gut the interior again. lol...
As you can see below here, I v-banded the exhaust at the rear diff for easier removal of the exhaust in sections when I need to work on things. I was able to add some more piping and ran it up and over to the passenger side and then mounted a Magnaflow muffler up where the spare tire hump used...
Gotcha... Mine is rusting from the inside and its gotten worse very quickly so I will be going down the carbon fiber hatch route as well. Mine is more of a weekend car so I'll probably go the plexiglass route for it... And I'll definitely be stealing your little idea here in this thread. lol :thumb:
I hate when the muffler shows like that... I just changed my exhaust around to make sure everything was hidden and even then I painted mine with high temp flat black like dsm-unleashed said too...
Junkyard or dealer... However, if you are only replacing them because they are no longer black, you can take them off, sand em down and paint them. I did this with mine and they turned out good. Definitely cheaper than buying new ones in my opinion.
I have the exactly same spot that mine is dripping from and it is indeed the axle seal. I cleaned everything up while I had things tore apart and the transfer case and oil pan off and I could see tranny fluid seeping from the axle seal and it would eventually run down to that same spot on the...
I used the large gromet on the passenger side of the firewall and had no problems with it becoming a mess... I think that is about the easiest reversible way of doing it... Of course, I can't see a reason why you would need/want to reverse it after it's done?
When I bought my DSM I had the tranny go out within a month from the previous owner beating on it so hard. Then I fixed it and turned around and hit a deer one night... Then the mechanic that put the new tranny in used the wrong fluid so the tranny locked up going down the road one day and threw...
So over the weekend I had cut the spare tire hump out of the car to gain space for redoing the exhaust and also to have a more functional hatch for some new goodies coming soon...Got a piece of sheet metal cut to about the size needed and had an X pressed into it to stiffen it up so it...
About 45 minutes south of Youngstown. I think it takes me just under 2 hours to get to Pittsburgh? I'd be down for that some weekend though. I'm always looking for new places to take some photos. :)Right now my iPhone has been my primary camera as I've grown tired of my old Sony... Looking...
Nothing too big for an update, but worth mentioning... Tonight I took the plunge and hacked out the spare tire hump. I doubt I lose much weight from it after everything is put back together, but now I'll have some room underneath for doing my exhaust the right way... My goal is to quiet it down...
Actually, I dyed all my leather from grey to black 5 years ago and it turned out great and has held up with no problems at all.Wheels and suspension are next on my to-do list... Already have the wheels but they aren't ready to go on quite yet... Still debating on what route to go with the...
There was a huge wreck at our local track this weekend (nobody got hurt) and it took the rest of the day to clean up. I never got to run, so I took off and did a little photoshoot instead. Enjoy...
I have done so much the last few days... Tore apart both doors and fixed the power window controls that break off and fall down in on both doors. Fixed passenger side lock assembly and rods. Fixed factory keyless and alarm. Made my own bracket for holding the lip of the front bumper up. Replaced...
I can't say much for the Cobalt SS, but I have an LS and I think they feel cheap and are junky. IMO, GM better step up their game on the quality of smaller cars if they want to compete with the other companies out there. The Cobalt is a good daily driver when it isn't busy making clunking sounds...
You'll still have the cost of oil, tires, and plates on the new car too though... So... I don't get how your saving money... If anything, now you can lump a car payment and full coverage on top of your "$3000" expenses you already had...Of course if your looking for a more reliable DD then...
I've had my DSM for 8 years, so I'd like to think I've been in it long enough to be considered old school... But I'm probably right there at that edge of time where new school DSMers started coming into the scene... So... Hmm... Oh well, I don't care either way. All I know is I love my DSM and...
Out of curiosity, how many of you guys are still rocking the original shift linkage? Mine is falling apart and it's time to finally be replaced. lol...
Wow I just read thru this entire thread and mad props to you man! There has been so much work done on this car that nobody will ever understand the time you have invested in doing all this. I didn't go to near the extremes you did on some of these things but now I wish I had after seeing the...
Just recently the Talon was brought back to the point of being able to be driven on the streets. Up until now, it has been plagued by problems preventing me from actually driving it anywhere. Brand new oil pump seized, timing belt jumped and bent valves, fuel line blew up, adapter snapped off...
Hmm... Might be worth it to fix the bushings first to see if that straightens things out back there before spending money on the strut if you don't have to, ya know?
It seems odd to me that if he has 2 other DSM's he is fixing for the same thing that he wouldn't just fix this one too since it only costs him "$150 for parts"... Sounds like there may be more wrong with that one than he is telling you about... Just my opinion on the matter though.
