Holy almost 2 year old thread, LOL!!!Yeah, I agree, its ghetto but it gets the job done for the cost. The original poster stated he didn't want to pay the money for the poly ones and didn't want the harshness of those type mounts.Steve
You know I just sold my 3" MAF and Translator and installed the 2g maf. The MAFT was a pita to tune with. Every time I got in the car the trims would drastically change depending on the weather. Since I put the 2g maf in the trims have stabilized and the car is much more enjoyable to drive...
That doesn't seem right. Not for our 90 model anyways. My original question was how are you splicing into the 1g harness? Did you just cut the 1g plug off and splice the 2g plug into the harness? If so then I can provide you with the schematics that I used and it will work. Let me know...
Having them twisted for now for testing purposes is fine. But when you get it right I would go back and solder them back together. What I need is the color wire from the maf did you connect to what color wire from the harness? This way we can troubleshoot what you did and find out where the...
How did you wire the 2g mas in? Did you splice or swap out connectors? The reason I ask is because all I did was splice the 2g connector into my harness, replacing my 1g connector and everything works fine. If you did splice what color wires did you splice to what?Steve
I would say bleed the clutch again after you check the slave cylinder. You already swapped out the master cylinder but make sure the slave isn't leaking too. I would also think adjusting the rod but you say the engagement point changes so that leads me to believe its a hydraulic issue so it...
Read through this and see if you can handle it.http://vfaq.com/index-main.htmlI'm fixing to do mine here in a few weeks. I bought the SBR 3500 kit w/street disc.
Good luck.
You have to pull the boot off the rods to inspect for the leaks. You said you are only just below the max line on the resivoir so its probably a small leak, not enough to leak massively out of the boots.
I am also having that same issue. Right around 5-5.5k+ she acts like someone is turning the ignition switch on and off. It was really bad when I had the boost set at 17-19psi but I turned it down to 15psi., before it used to do it earlier on in the rpm ranges. I read on another board that it...
I've got one on my 90GSX for about 8 months now. I will be getting one for my wife's 97GST here in the next month or so from him too. I have nothing but praise for it. Quality of intercooler was awesome to include the welds. Performance wise I have had no issues. Once installed it was a...
I just rode in a buddies car that recently upgraded to the RS49 and at 16lbs this car feels like a rocket. Boost response is quick and I didn't notice any lag. He sold me on the turbo so I will be purchasing one very soon. It was also amazing on how I was comparing his mods to mine and I am...
My bad, you are right about the amount of oil. I meant to say 4 1/2 to 5 quarts. But 3 1/2 quarts is alot to be missing. Your thread seems to be concentrating on this boost leak, but I have never seen a boost leak caust overheating. I guess it could if you were working the motor hard. I was...
They definitely did not phase in your rear balance shaft. I to had the same problem with both my 90GSX and 97GST. This is why no one else works on my babies except me. Check this link out and specifically paragraph 24.http://vfaq.com/mods/timingbelt-1G.html
Being that these cars take 3 1/2 to 4 quarts of oil one may think that is why it overheated. Find out where the oil went and you should find your culprit.
That black spray is from condensation build up during warm-up. The exhaust has black soot lined throughout the inside. Once condensation builds up it takes some of the soot with it upon exiting. Both the wife's and my DSMs do that. You should see out garage door. LOL!
I have the HKS TT on my car but got the harness with it. It was just plug and play for me. Only wires I had to connect was to the E-Brake and cigaretter lighter wire (ACC). Only time I had to touch the ignition was to plug the additional harness I got with it.
I would say if the compressor wheel is not touching the housing when you move it then go for it. That guy "some guy that owns this turbo shop localy" you talked to doesn't what he is talking about. I installed the 14b from my 90 GSX on my wifes' 97GST about a month after we got her car...
Where the amp was installed, under the passenger seat, you will have to splice into the front tweet speakers there. Last month I installed a new cd/mp3 player in my wifes' 97GST. The front dash speakers are the only ones that are not wired behind the stock stereo but only at the infinity amp...
Another helpful hint would be to disconnect the battery. You will have a wrench down in the area of the alternator and could arc it. I am assuming the O2 housing is still in the car and it will be in there when you swap out the sensor. Not speaking from first hand experience or anything :D .
The MAS connector is located right on the air intake canister. If that is all the way in to the female connector, meaning push on it a couple of times, then make sure the harness is not damaged. Also you can unsnap and snap it back together to ensure you are getting good connection. If all is...
Check to make sure your MAS connector didn't fall off. Also do a boost leak test. For the CE light, it is probably related to your O2 sensor because of how rich you are running. Boost guage? I would just get an aftermarket one because the stocker is for looks only. If all else fails, make...
I currently have the KYB AGXs on my 90 and my wife is rolling on stock shocks with Tein-S springs. My AGXs are a bit tight even on the lowest setting. If I had to buy another suspension setup for my car I will definitely go with GR2s next time. My wife's shocks are starting to show wear also...
I had a ticket dropped because of the rims I had on my old 93 Talon. The rims weren't new or anything but I stated I had aftermarket rims on the car and the lawyer I hired had the ticket dropped. I had to hire a lawyer because I was unable to appear in court due to I was just passing through...
Can you post some pics of the front bumper? Because, after reading your post I still don't understand why you are overheating. You have a N/T right? Adding a cold air intake is not going to help with overheating issues. Unless your front bumper cover is completely blocked off then you...
Is it already off the car? Is so, reinstall it (but not all the way) and use the mount for leverage on breaking that I-Bolt. It is going to be tight because thats how it seals to reduce leakage issues.
I would be a little weary being it has sat for years and you want to use it as a daily driver.
I would say jump on it, after a full inspection, if you were going to a race setup.
With all you listed it doesn't sound like it would be up and running anytime soon in order for you to use it as...
I run BG SynchroShift and I also feel the same notchiness for the first 10-15mins when she is cold. Just something I deal with. The fluid doesn't warm up/move until the car is in movement.
I've always wondered about my wife's 97GST counterweight. If you guys hacked it off and show no ill effects, then what was the original purpose of the counterweight?
Reason I ask is because I too did the 14b swap on her car and had to make some massive rerouting of the lower intercooler pipe...
I have read countless threads about how crappy those ebay boost controllers are. Its up to you though, its your money.
Heres a link off the VFAQs on building your own controller for I think it was like $8.00.http://www.darklightning.com/gi/mbc.htmFrom experience, I have the Joe P...
I would say an MBC is a good choice. But I wouldn't go with any ebay ones, unless they are from people like Hallman, dejontool, etc, any of the ones that are already proven. Or, you can build your own.
Sounds right though. If the guy tested the charging system with the bad battery still in the car it wouldn't have detected the bad alternator. Because the battery would have shown to be bad first. Once replaced with a good battery then the test would be true. Glad to hear its all fixed...
I agree. My wife has the S-Techs on her 97GST. The ride quality is awesome and they lowered the car just enough for her taste. Her car definitely has the more aggressive look she was looking for.
Oh, my bad. Well, then I would have to say you can probably get one but I would not daily drive it. If you do, you will overheat. Less radiator cores, less cooling capability.
