HMMM.... That link you posted has hood vents and upgraded fans so how are they band aids?? WTFIf you would have read my car profile, I have all off those mods: aluminum radiator, 2-1000 CFM fans a large hood vent (That works quit well!), new thermostat, same mixture of coolant, 1.1 bar...
No worries my car runs hot and the temp fluctuates a lot while driving. and gets pretty hot if I'm stuck in traffic. My remedies where:1. Hood Vent
2. Wired up switch to turn the fans on whenever I want.
3. Installed Autometer Water temp gauge just to make sure it was getting as hot as...
Good call turboglenn, :thumb: I completely forgot about that part of the setup. :ohdamn:I tapped into the radio harness accessory line, so that the unit turns off when the radio turns off.
If you think it's wired correctly then you have one of two problems:1. It is still wired incorrectly or a defective unit!
2. You do not have it hooked up right! If all else fails post a pic of how you have it hooked up and I can verify that you have it the hooked up correctly!Check and...
DO NOT PUT A CHECK VALVE ON THE WASTE GATE LINE!!!!You're just asking for trouble if you do.It's not a check valve it's a FILTER!!!The solenoid is wired wrong, check the colors of the wires, check the connectors at the solenoid and at the unit.
Yes, seal your oil pan correctly the first time!! You will regret it later if you don't do it right the first time... Trust me I know, I was that guy who just wanted to get his car finished. :ohdamn:
My car (the one in my profile) gets 27-28 mpg on the highway, driving conservative. Every car is different but like every one else is saying preventive maintenance is the best way to get good mileage! What are you getting for mileage now?
Yes, this is what I did all winter.I don't know if I have a high crank pressure or not? Yes, both are hooked up and the PCV is less than a year old maybe has 5000 miles on it but my boost is set at 22psi, will that have any affect? I also can replace the PCV if needed. I have a few new...
Thank you snowboarder but I have read through those already. The leaks I'm seeing are oil seeping through gaskets, mainly the oil return, oil pan and valve cover gaskets. The leaks are not a constant drip just seepage, I have been trying to address these problems but it seems like a never...
Ok, guys here's whats up. I have been preping my car all winter so that I can do an HPDE event in the spring (May 31st Pocano).I would like to know from the ones that have competed in an HPDE event or similar. How much do they tech your car? I have looked over the site and through there...
Try this tighten up the belt until you can only move it about 1/4 of an inch. In other words tighten the belt until you can only move it 1/4" with your finger.
If I remember correctly I had to cut off my thermal flange and have it rotated to fit with the megan downpipe (but that was a few years ago since I did that). Yes, the thermal does have a 3 bolt at the muffler flange.Trust me you will be more than happy with the thermal exhaust! It produces...
Yes, it was probably from just laying down. You should replace that seal while you have it out it's a $5 part that will save you money in the end. If the seal you have on now leaks and you run your transfer case dry, you could run the risk of lock up.
Using an oil feed from the head is a bad idea, the head does not supply enough pressure (it varies to much). Going straight off of the oil housing is your best bet. People do run from the head, and have good luck, it's just not the optimum placement. To the OP any kit will essentially give...
Haha... that's funny because I just picked up a Lincoln Electric 220V MIG and was playing with it this weekend. So far I love it, you will really like Miller they are a very good TIG welder.Remember practice make perfect! :thumb:
When you are at 10.2% Throttle is your foot off the pedal? If so then you need to adjust your TPS to zero or near zero percent. If the ecu thinks your at WOT and the butterfly valve is not fully open that might create problems. Also, get some new fuel just to make sure it's not a fuel issue!
You are running lean, did you log this while cruising?Your RPMs never go above 4.5K. Log a WOT in 3rd gear then post your findings! I want to see throttle position 100% or close to it.
Wow... that is definitely AEM's fault, your gauge was Brand New, right? If so demand AEM replace it, that is what a warranty is for.As for the gauge you will probably have to buy one from AEM!Here's a Link to their Warranty that they offer.
First things to check in this order:Thermostat
Water pump
Coolant Temp sensor
Radiator fansA leak you would see; if your head gasket is leaking your exhaust will smell sweet and possibly have coolant in your oil.If the thermostat is stuck in the closed position you can overheat your car...
Oh, okay... if all else fails wire it directly to the battery just to see if it's a ground problem.Good luck though, let us know if the new gauge fixes the issue.
When you first turn on the car does the guage go through it's start up sequence, i.e. counts down or up from 1 then shows P00 then reads the A/F ratio.
Unplug the IAC, adjust the BISS to where you want your idle to be, plug the IAC back in and your good to go.This is assuming that you have the proper base timing and no boost leaks.
If your burning coolant it has a sweet smell when burnt. When the car gets hot again get an Infrared thermometer and find out how hot the external temp of the engine is. Feel your radiator and make sure it's hot also, if not then your problem could be back at the thermostat.
Yes, it could be the temp sensor, reading a false positive. How did you verify that the car was overheating? Have you checked your coolant level? So far you have replace most of the components that would help you, except the temp sensor. If your head gasket was blown you would smell it at...
"bmoha" thermal has since changed the flanges they are now 1/2" stainless, no more rust!"eclipse 16G" try checking out any of the vendors listed on the site.Oh yeah I forgot to mention that thermal exhaust still neck down to 2.5" at the cat. This can be fixed by welding a 3in flange with...
I concure with all the posts above, I have one mated to a megan also, beware that megans don't fit perfect but what does, right! Yes, the sound is like no other, very different from any other company.I run without a cat and at idle it sounds very nice and all most purrs; but at high RPMs it...
ISO 9001 does not mean that the rotors are any better! ISO 9001 is a quality program, so the company can say they meet quality standards. Meaning they can still have a bad product but they will have less rotors that fail final inspection. To the OP if the rotors are cheap enough then buy...
For balanced braking replace caliper in pairs. I would also replace rotors if you found that one caliper was seized.Replace rotors in pairs also! Why didn't you consider rebuilding the calipers, it costs about half (if not less than half) of a new one and is very simple to do?
Yes, you can lean it to a 45 deg but I don't know about putting it on it's back, I have mine leaning to one side and it does not leak.Although, the best way would be vertically and horizontally at zero degrees. Sometimes you have to improvise though.
No, three points to mount on is not an ideal situation. Plus think about how weight distribution will be affected; in short you will put to much stress on the rear mount.
A sticky thread should be started on these books. They are great reads for novice and pros. The books should make the list for required reading material.
Okay, I picked up this book a few years back and wanted to know if anyone else has read it. I picked it up due to recommendation from the Penn State SAE chapter. The book has a lot of useful information to understand how to win. The book is by world known Carroll Smith. It can be found...
