    You will still get wheel hop/chirp in tight maneuvers with the center welded. the rear being open or lsd makes no difference. The front follows larger circle then the rear in tight turns, therefore different wheel speeds, so something has to give.

    Thanks for mentioning hone type, forgot about ball type.It doesn't look to bad, but its not real clear. As far as being tapered, I guess what matters most are the the OP's intentions. Stock rebuild or going bigger?

    I would empty the block, clean the rust with a red scuff pad, then hone the block and see how it looks. If it's not pitted afterwards, new rings and reassemble. If it looks bad it'll need bored.You could try and see if it wears away , but rust is hard and could put tiny gouges in the rings...

    I've had a bad front cover gasket, and it leaked out the tentioner bolt.I've had oil leak from the balance shaft plug, the biggest leaker.And I've had cam seals make quite a mess.Not sure if that's even remotley helpful, but that's my experiance with wet oiled tbelts.Sent from my Droid
