Are you dead set on a 2g? You could find a decent 1g AWD for that price relatively easy for around $2500. My best advice would be to wait it out for the right car, don't force yourself into selling one car to get another.Save up on the side and wait it out, patience pays.
If its not a part I prefer to be OEM I always use my NAPA.My local NAPA is great, I know all the guys there and they always have everything in stock from water pumps to any misc. gaskets at the best prices. They even give me discounts since I used to work for a dealership that they dealt with...
The PR FMIC kit allows you to keep the foglights and performs nicely.Heres a thread discussing the kit:http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turbo-system-tech/320495-punishment-racing-fmic-2g.htmlHeres a link to where you can buy it:Punishment Racing your parts source for the Mitsubishi Evo &...
Lets say your drivers rear turn signal started blinking fast, this generally means that your drivers front turn signal is out. Definitely worth checking before swapping harnesses or sockets.
Your best bet is to go check it out and drive it. Ask about routine maintenance, especially the water pump and timing belt. The timing belt needs to be changed every 60k otherwise you're just playing with fire.
Besides the obvious cosmetic and mechanical flaws you'd look for in any car, check the strut towers thoroughly for rust. Its pretty common on 2g's. Other than that, read this.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-miscellaneous/200797-dsm-buyers-guide-what-look-when-buying-dsm.html
Agreed on the Evo III 16g for the OP. I loved it on my 95 GSX, quick spool and adequate power made it perfect for the street. It will give you that extra amount of power you're looking for a reasonable price. You can just run stock boost until you get supporting fuel and tuning mods. Not to...
Just based on the turbo provided in the kit, I figured an 02 housing would be simplest and cheapest in order to adapt a downpipe to.Good to know about the fuel system, I wasn't aware the stock 420a pump and injectors could handle a small amount of boost.
You're going to need a exhaust manifold, 02 housing and exhaust from there back. You will need a fuel system including fuel pump and injectors. You'll need something to tune with along with a wideband. Is this your only car? This kit really will become a ticking time bomb with all of the cheap...
Correct, I've been trying to find a picture of a 2g BCS to verify thats the right connector but have not had any luck. Hopefully someone can chime in and confirm that.
Your stock 2g MAF will be plenty for your goals, check the classifieds for the SAFC. They can usually be found for around $150. Then choose a wideband and logger and you'll be set.
If you're looking for a 16" wheel, I'd look into the 2gb GST five spokes or the FD wheels. Both can be found relatively cheap.2gb GST (Can be found in chrome or silver alloy finishes) :FD:
You don't need the FPR solenoid, although it may trip a CEL. As long as you have the vacuum line from the FPR to the intake manifold you'll be good to go.
Dogbox racing is running a special for stage 1 rebuilds at $575, definitely worth checking out.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/vendor-announcements/386353-16-days-left-your-built-trans-575-a.html
I believe the Megan Racing downpipes are cat eliminators, so you shouldn't need a test pipe. I'm not 100% for the FWD's, but my 2g AWD downpipe and catback bolted right up together without a test pipe. You may want to contact a vendor or Megan Racing directly to check.
I knew it looked familiar, I couldn't remember where I had seen it. Hope to see this thing make some passes at the Shootout next year. Subscribed :applause:
I'm safe until next week, only got four this semester. I agree with MATLAB, I used it in my Engineering Modeling class and that was it. My finals next week consist of (Civil Engineering at Michigan State) :Statics
Calc 3
Plant Biology
Principles of Environmental Engineering/Science.
I disagree, there will be more stress on an AWD clutch than a FWD. To put it simply, a FWD is more likely to break the tires loose before the clutch slips.Resurfacing the flywheel is fine as long as its not warped. Just make sure to have it stepped correctly. Stock I believe is .612"...
We pulled up in the silver STi when we saw him on the side of the road to check if all was good, glad it wasn't major.Another great shootout, the MIDSM crew was out until almost 5am Saturday night. Nice to meet everyone, see ya in 2011 :rocks:
Keep your car, you know what has been done and that it has been done correctly. Save up and pick up a 1g AWD for a project and keep your car as is (if you're satisfied with it).
You're comparing a 1.9l econobox motor to a performance oriented 4g63. No kidding the 4g63 can handle more, thats what it was designed to do.The 4b11t has been proven to be perfectly capable of handling power comparable to the 4g63.610 WHP on a stock block...
Driver mod.Seat time will help lower your times more than any bolt on mod ever will. You'll be amazed at what cars are ripping of the quickest times compared to others.
You can also check out the PR FMIC, its a pretty nice kit for the price with a very easy/clean install.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turbo-system-tech/320495-punishment-racing-fmic-2g.html
