I am curious why this only comes up now. Many, I mean many people run these with no issues. I think you are too caught up with this little bleed hole. Two things Darren mentioned that I was thinking. A. Testing your hypothesis is incomplete. Your findings are only partial. I feel you have...
Aside from checking up on all mainetnance items this is an irrelevant question. The engine might not be the frst failure. Is it a stock t-25 turbo? How is the clutch? What injectors? How are you tuning it?
If it does not already have an aftermarket fuel pump and you plan on modding ti in any way you should defintiely get the walbro. One of the best first mods.
You can also check the MPI relay, not sure on the 2g location but on a 1g it is under radio on the right hand side. Check a haynes manual for the procedure or you can find useful write ups on here.
This is correct and unless you have ecmlink and are compensating for it in the long run it will do no good. If you put the bov on just for the sound then all the power to you but a 1g crushed bov recirculated sounds just as goo IMO.
You could always go to the junkyard and swap it out for another 2g shifter and not mess around with aftermarket set screw types. Usually anything with a set screw is junk, the ones that take the time to make a real product for a specific vehicle are worth the money because they fit like stock.
Back in the day when Kevin Jewer had an evo he used to use this method multiple times a night at the track trying out different cam combinations. Truly is the easiest and fastest way. I have done it as well but I manually bleed the lifters each time unlike others have mentioned, solely for...
Pictures would help too. I once had a rear trailing arm that rotted out, it is a long and tedious job to replace and you usually end up breaking other things so I had it boxed in by a welder friend for $80. Has held up great for years.
How old is the fuel? If real old you could add some dry gas, could be water in it.
Oil 20w 50 is the best, try ZR1 non synthetic. You could also do some maintenance at the same time and swap the fuel filter out along with the plugs. When you start it and its running check the voltage output...
The even better clips come out of late model dodge caravans and intrepids. They have grey side clips and are better than the 2g ones with the orange side clips. Very easy to find at the junkyard.
I really like the NGK Powerdex AFX.
Comes with the better of the ngk sensors that normally costs around $150 alone.
NGK Performance Products - Powerdex AFX™This is also ecmlink friendly and works great.
Also matters what type of fuel you are running and how modded the car is. Are you always mostly engine braking or do you put it in neutral and slow down with the brakes?
If you are referring to the bushings that sit on the shifter arms on the tranny and the end of the shifter cables wrap around them then you definitely need those. This is also a chance to do your first mod/upgrade. Do a search for "roller bllade shifter bushings" and read up on it. Very cheap...
I agree, stop messing around with possibly broken parts and get a stock rebuilt head. They can be found for as little as $250, not worth the headache for so little since you are already around $1k into it after purchase.
This is very true, I once bought a cheap ecu for a daily driver and once I removed the cover I found I had a nicely socketed eprom with the incorrect outer case on it. So always check the inside.Where is the car originally from?Is there a big dsm following where you are?
That really stinks. My 2.3L FFWD Connection stroker has lasted almost 10 years and hundreds of passes in the 10's and 9's at up to 150mph. I would definitely go with another stroker for sure, they are worth the extra power.
Yes I would definitely check the crank pulley I have seen one of those go first hand on the way to the shootout. pain in the but. Also check all pulley bolts including ones behind the pulley on the power steering pump. You said there is a alternator bolt, there should be two, a long one that...
Hey, thanks for the video. No the car will not be competing at the next event. It is already being parted. Sad to see it go but it has been 10 years and I am ready to move on.
As long as the piping is as big as the turbo or larger it is fine, you really want to get a filter with some decent square inches. I always try to run the large nearly foot long k&n filter due to the large filter surface. Lots of places sell "cold air intakes" with tiny filters on them so be...
Keep an eye on the classifieds on here, I have seen them go for cheaper than that. Also if you are doing a build why not spend a little more money and get something aftermarket jic, wiseco, mahle, etc.
Evo 3 parts have their benefits but in the end are not really worth it. There are plenty of parts that will have a larger increase in performance for not much more money then you will spend on an evo 3 part. Ported 2g manifold is a very cheap starting point. Some people have also had good luck...
Does the car have DSMlink? If so put the car on the two step to see if it rolls. If so your clutch is hanging. I personally have to check my car at 7000 because at 6500 it did not show.
Hey Chad you never told me this was on here.:hellyeah: Thanks all for the compliments. The car is finally coming along this year and hopefully it will really show itself within the next few weeks. Chad is correct, the 9.61 was a 44psi run with C16 and no nitrous. The following week or so the...
