Hmmm, how confident are you in your compression tester? I only ask because if it passed a leakdown and the compression #s didn't increase when you did a wet test, maybe the tester is just reading low.

Sounds like somebody has leaking valves. 155+ across all 4 would be ideal. I feel the need to ask though, did you do a *proper* compression test, with the car warm and the throttle held all the way open?

The valve cover has some rivets in it which hold up a small metal plate, check to see if that is loose.

Idle and cruise. Your car will always idle like stock , and if you use staged injection, either via a boost activated switch(which is better IMO), or by rpm/load, you can have massive potential up top, while still getting stock highway fuel economy.

Old chevy smallblocks are all iron, which means that they arent as prone to head warpage or blown headgaskets as a result of overheating. Overheating the motor would indeed cause the pistons/rings to expand more than usual, which could lead to better ring seating. However, on a motor like ours...

Check the turbo oil feed bolt in the head, and also check where the block/head meet on that side. I've seen a few cases where the gasket will let go on that oil passage and spray oil everywhere on that side of the motor. Good luck.

The honeycombs exist to smooth out the airflow before the measurement is taken. While the car would still run without the honeycombs, it would run poorly and you would be extremely lean. This *can* be compensated for to some extent, but its not worth it. The sensor is junk.Jeff

Hmm.. Well, a few things to check. Remove your valve cover ( if you havn't already) to check if all of your valvetrain is still intact. Secondly, look down the spark plug holes to make sure there isn't something in your engine. Slim chance, but I've seen it :/. Lastly, with the belt off...

Is the belt on now? If so, do you have all the timing marks lined up correctly? If not, are there spark plugs in the head?

If the car isn't too far away from you, finding out whether or not the rings are gone is as simple as a compression test. Just a thought if you are up in the air on buying it.
